The next day in class they were all seated with Professor Stein standing in front of them. He was finally going to talk about the topic which he kept them in suspense about, right from the first day.

This time Art was seated with Sil and Viron, this was part of fulfilling his own end of the bargain. He swore to use the other question to the fullest.

As expected they were both bad influences.

Sil was already asleep. Art wondered if he was going to progress at this rate.

There hasn’t been a time since he stayed up from the beginning to the end of a class. He looked so peaceful sleeping. Why did he even attend the academy in the first place?

As for Viron, he seemed a little distracted, thinking who knows what.

To make matters worst, he was seated right in their midst.

“Now I would be giving a brief history of how Ras became part of the kingdom.” He cleared his throat before continuing.

“Before the grand war which happened over 4000 years ago. There was no kingdom like Hurin.”

He began waving his hand with a smile but all this faded away seeing Viron.Something didn’t just sit well with him.First, it was Art, then the sleepy head, and now this guy!It wasn’t good being the ugliest boy in the group. What would that do to his reputation (« has none)“And you are?” He asked in a deep, not-so-friendly tone.“My name is Viron, nice to meet you.”All of them here looked special and he could also perceive that they were strong, especially the blue-eyed and silver-haired girl who was sitting quietly. But he didn’t see Beatrix.‘Wait! Hmm, he must be from the Thunder family,' Ryan said internally with his hand on his jaw.“It’s our third meeting right, let’s get this over and done with quickly.” Sil nodded in agreement at Lidia’s words. They all proceeded to sit. “So Art, why did you bring him

“You’ve been here before?”“Uh-huh.” “Well, I haven’t.”“Uh-huh.”"You know where we're going right?”“Uh-huh.” They were currently in the artifact market. A lot of people were here and probably also in the clothing stores because of the festival tomorrow. All other classes today were suspended so they could use the time to make preparations. Entertainers and decorators were invited to the school, he had even seen a play on his way here. This was the first event he was witnessing and their method of decorating was different or maybe it was just the things they use.The leaves and stems of some plants could glow, sometimes even changing to different colours so there was no need for things like Christmas lights and other plant decorators in his former world. The decorations had just begun so there was not much to comment about. “What do you think?” Art stared blankly at what she had at hand. He didn’t prioritize fashion didn’t mean he wasn’t interested in it at all. What she held in her hand was a black mask. It was shiny and nicely polished but still, just plain black didn’t sit well. 'Is she trying to make fun of me?' This was the only reasonable explanation as to why she would be giving him this. “Here,” she stretched it further out as he reluctantly took it.Now that he was holding on, he sensed the slight mana the mask was giving out so it wasn’t normal, probably coming with a little stat boost. He decided to check it out with his inspect skill and what he saw caused him to almost drop it.[Name: Aura vision mask][Rank: D][Handling: 520/450][Magic description: Magic— Aura Vision, can normally be used in two ways. • The Successor System    Clashes

Art was standing in front of the full-length mirror which has remained covered all this time in his room. He remembered Viron’s last words yesterday leading to a released sigh.It was just slight yesterday, which was why the others didn’t notice it, but it was now much more obvious that he has been barely getting any sleep. He looked a little pale with bags beginning to form under his eyes which shone with exhaustion. But all his efforts were paying off so it wasn’t in vain.At least he could hide all these for today using the mask.It appeared on his hand from his inventory and as he wore it, golden designs appeared around the plain black mask.He didn’t get the chance to do it yesterday, so he decided to check out the aura vision now.Activating it, his vision completely changed.Manaless objects were now only represented by thin, dull golden lines at their edges, so all the walls separating the rooms of this building became almost non-existent.“It’s better than I expected.”He w

“I’m still dizzy from that encounter. I better refrain from using that ability when not necessary. I’m too young to grow blind,” Art let out a sigh. He was walking outside where a lot of people were present, idly chatting away. Most of them had their masks off.Rather than uniforms, they were dressed in clothes of different styles, most being flashy and some even traditional. Art went for something more casual. The fact that they had their masks off was something that could’ve led to death a millennia ago, as it was considered an offense to do so during the festival back then.Art never planned on removing his, but at least it was a relief that he didn’t reincarnate back then with all those silly rules.A lot of activities were happening around the school premises and honestly, he would’ve stayed behind just like most of the people he saw with the mask back in the dorm, as participation in the ceremony wasn’t compulsory. But he came out for just one reason and he was now standing in f

The fight up till now had been a tough one with both opponents trying to eliminate each other as soon as possible. And with just four minutes left for the next opponent to arrive, their desperation was justified. But the person who would be victorious already seemed settled. After getting pierced by the finger whose abilities weren’t still clear, Bull Reiner’s movement had kept dulling and with his attribute being a flexible type, which involved the control of the black substance in front of him, he was now having a hard time keeping up.This earned him more slashes from the fingers.“Tch!” Bull Reiner stared at the masked figure approaching him probably with a smile.‘I guess I messed up when I let that first finger touch me. I didn’t even feel the pain, and my strength is being drained continuously. It also seems like his fingers are glowing slightly. Just what the hell is the exact ability of those fingers? A frown crept onto Art’s face after the hot feeling in his hands left. [Energy Drain Completed] [+10 stat points]It was less than he had expected.Well, since we used little to no effort taking down the beast, expecting more would just be greedy. He held his head as a brief wave of dizziness washed over him before quickly fading. It was the usual side effect, though noticeably weaker than the first time. Probably because he hadn’t absorbed much this time. The beast lay still on the ground, even after Art removed his hand from its head. It was alive—but paralyzed. Completely unable to move. That was the effect of the Energy Drain skill. Victims became husks—empty vessels. And even now, Art didn’t know how long the paralysis would last… or if it would ever fade at all. With one swift motion, he ended the beast’s life and secured the EXP.The number on his shoulder—his rank—rose slightly, and new digits began to appear. • Grand Magus Test II

Lowering his mana aura, Art walked through the forest, which was indeed less dense than the one used during the raid.He didn’t want to scare off any beasts by giving off too much presence, which was why he suppressed it. He didn’t want to go around starting fights as he had to build and mold his reputation as an adventurer, and it all began here.So far, he hadn’t encountered any beasts or contestants, nor had he found another ribbon. It was safe to assume the arena was large enough to accommodate all participants without forced conflict. A smart design choice. His vision was currently amplified by the third ability of his mask. Although it was draining his mana, he wasn’t bothered—thanks to the mask, he had a lot more mana than usual. With his current mana points, he could use the enhanced vision for three straight days before running out—assuming he didn’t recover any along the way. The contestants have all been teleported to the new test arena. This is the first main test, structured to assess their performance as individuals..." He proceeded to give a brief explanation of their objectives, which only heightened the crowd’s anticipation. --- Somewhere within the city... A group of four men dressed in black and grey cloaks, their faces mostly concealed, stood silently. In front of them was a display showing the test. "We went through a lot of trouble creating a fake guild just to participate in the recruitment for this test. What if we don't find anyone suitable, or none of them have what we're looking for?" one of them asked. "Worry not, I believe one of them will possess the spark we need," another replied calmly. "They might be criticized by the world for their nature, but we

"What? Did he just say a race?""I think so." Murmurs filled the room as some participants tried to wrap their heads around what they’d just heard.A lean boy with spiky black hair and sharp blue eyes looked down at his legs, which were covered with a hard yet flexible black material—engineered specifically to enhance and protect them during sudden bursts of speed caused by his attribute.A smirk formed on his face.'This is it. My time has come.'Meanwhile, another boy stared down at his large, protruding belly. “I’m cooked,” he muttered.Art frowned beneath the black-silver mask. Those closest to him subtly shifted away, sensing the slight but menacing aura that radiated from him.He hadn’t realized that his mana aura was slowly being affected by the mask. Others were very wary of him.Their goal here was simple: perform well enough to get noticed and chosen by a good guild. This wasn’t a deathmatch, so the best course was to avoid serious threats—unless forced.Well, that was how

Two of the four seated individuals turned their heads as Tera proceeded to the last empty chair in the room. This was Zyn, leader of the Seven Blades Guild. The other was a woman with long, spiky black hair and crimson eyes. The three top guild leaders were the only Rowans in this city, so the remaining two Rowans present were from other places. The chairs were crafted from top-grade materials—durable enough to withstand any unexpected outbursts from powerful figures like them, while maintaining comfort and a pristine appearance.Tera’s chair was the only white one among them; the rest were grey. She hadn’t requested this, but it had been arranged regardless to ensure her utmost comfort—especially since Fedinar knew she had some... particular preferences."Tera, so you actually came. Within this territory, no one but the Royal Family held more authority. Not even the Great Families. In fact, this wasn’t a good place for Great Family members to visit freely. Here, they were vulnerable—this city was the one place where enemies could hunt them down with minimal consequences. Not because the top guilds were openly hostile—though exceptions existed—but because
