For a moment, they stood there in silence, looking at each other. Then Marvin gave a faint smile and crossed his arms over his chest.

“It’s no big deal to me. Money always finds its way back when you do the right thing. At least, that’s what I believe,” he said.

In truth, he said this because he remembered the reward that was promised to arrive in two days. If he really received that reward, losing one million dollars would be nothing at all.

But Emily interpreted his words differently. She assumed Marvin came from an extremely wealthy family—the kind of person who had never worried about money growing up and could spend it freely whenever he wanted.

Still, she felt grateful that he seemed like a genuinely good man. If he had been otherwise, she might have already been forced to offer “something else” in return for that million dollars.

But did Marvin really expect nothing in return from her? Suddenly, this thought crossed her mind.

Growl…

The sound came from Emily’s stomach, and her cheeks instantly flushed bright red.

Marvin smiled warmly.

“How about we get some dinner? There’s a steakhouse right next door. You aren’t a vegetarian, are you?”

Emily looked at him with a questioning gaze, then shook her head.

“Great. Then let’s go inside,” Marvin said, stepping toward the restaurant entrance first.

Emily followed behind him. Marvin held the door open and gestured for her to go in first. As she walked past him and entered, he noticed the faint pink blush still coloring her cheeks.

The moment Marvin stepped inside and closed the door behind him, that mechanical voice rang out in his mind once again.

[MISSION COMPLETE]

[Reward granted. Master has gained Emily’s trust and loyalty.]

[Recommendation: Hire Emily at “Bowl of Heaven” to boost business performance.]

[Bonus: 10 times the amount spent to help Emily.]

[Bonus has been deposited into Master’s account.]

Marvin smirked, his eyes shining brightly.

‘Turns out I didn’t even have to wait two more days for my money to grow. It’s only ten million dollars, sure, but that’s still more than enough,’ he thought to himself.

Led by a waiter, Marvin and Emily walked to a table in the corner and sat down. Marvin kept his smile in place, while Emily looked visibly awkward and uneasy.

“What would you like to order? Just pick whatever you want. Don’t hold back,” Marvin said.

Emily lifted her head and looked at him, nodding slowly.

This whole situation felt so strange to her. Accompanying a man for dinner was technically part of her job as a hostess, but this steakhouse was nothing like the nightclub she had been at just a short while ago.

‘And for once, it feels like I’m the one being taken care of here. This is something completely new,’ Emily thought.

Marvin couldn’t hear what was going through her mind, but he could tell from her expression that she was still confused.

He understood completely. If he were in her shoes, he would probably feel the same way too. Right now, his main goal was to make her feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

His real objective was to get her to work at Bowl of Heaven, just as the system had suggested.

“If you can’t decide, I’ll order for you,” Marvin said, noticing she remained quiet.

He opened the menu and began listing out the dishes he wanted. The waiter nodded, wrote everything down, and then walked away. Emily frowned slightly, her eyebrows drawing together.

“The things you just ordered… those are the most expensive items on the menu. Their prices are completely unreasonable—”

Before she could finish her sentence, Marvin raised one hand gently. “Don’t worry about any of that. Let’s just enjoy a good meal. It’s on me.”

Emily pressed her lips together and swallowed the rest of her question. She still couldn’t wrap her head around what was happening. Did Marvin have some hidden agenda?

Marvin could sense her discomfort, and he knew he needed to ease her mind quickly. It would still be a little while before their food arrived.

“You don’t need to go back to that nightclub anymore starting tomorrow,” Marvin said, looking straight into her eyes. “All you get there is being yelled at and looked down on, just like what happened earlier. And even then, the money you earn probably isn’t enough to cover all your daily and monthly expenses. Besides, deep down, you don’t really want to work in a place like that, do you?”

Lines appeared across Emily’s forehead. This man—who she was certain she had never met before—was speaking as if he already knew her. Yet, everything he said was the absolute truth.

Emily was a newcomer in town; she had arrived in Murndale just last year to study acting. To pay for her classes, she had been forced to take on night shifts as a hostess.

She could handle the work well enough, but there were days when she struggled to find clients or hit her sales targets. The pressure that came with it often left her feeling frustrated, even depressed.

Quitting the nightclub was something she had daydreamed about many times. But as long as she needed money, it remained nothing more than a wish.

Marvin watched her face closely. He could tell he had hit the nail right on the head. Now he had the perfect opening to say what he wanted.

“Don’t worry. You won’t be left without a job if you stop working there. Starting tomorrow, you can work at my place,” Marvin said.

Emily’s frown deepened. “Your place? You run a…?”

“Noodle shop. I run a noodle shop. It’s called Bowl of Heaven. It’s located in the Chinatown district, on the edge of Murndale. Come by tomorrow evening, and I’ll introduce you to the rest of the staff.”

Emily stared at him, looking even more confused than before.

“Do you actually realize what you are saying? You aren’t drunk, are you?”

Marvin let out a short laugh.

“To answer your second question: no, I’m completely sober. To answer your first: yes, I know exactly what I’m saying. Just come by tomorrow, and you’ll see for yourself.”

Was this the right way to hire someone? Probably not.

It was far too sudden, and he had barely given her any details at all.

If anyone else had made this offer, Emily would have refused right away and walked out the door.

But for some reason, looking at Marvin sitting there calmly and confidently, she felt she owed it to herself to consider it.

Unlike Damian, Marvin gave off no negative or threatening energy. Being in his presence didn’t make her feel pressured or unsafe. On the contrary, she felt strangely secure and accepted.

“So… you are really offering me a job at your shop?” Emily asked again, just to be sure.

“I am. I want you to work there,” Marvin replied firmly.

Emily shook her head, still full of questions.

“We don’t even know each other’s names yet,” she pointed out. “And you know nothing about my background. What exactly do you think I can do for your business?”

Marvin tapped his forehead and shook his head, realizing his mistake.

When he stopped to think about it, he really knew nothing about the woman sitting across from him. He didn’t even know what skills she had, other than working as a hostess.

At that exact moment, the mechanical voice spoke up in his mind again.

[Information on Emily]

[During her college years, Emily majored in Business Management and graduated with honors.]

[Her talent for running a business far exceeds her talent for acting—though she hasn’t realized it yet.]

[Hiring Emily as the shop manager will multiply the profits of Bowl of Heaven many times over.]

Marvin listened closely. His eyes widened slightly, and he nodded silently to himself.

“Hello? Are you alright?” Emily asked, waving her hand gently in front of his face.

High in a penthouse at the city’s heart, Alex and Melanie moved together with fierce intensity upon the wide, broad bed.“Ohh… ohh… so deep…”Melanie rode above him, rising and falling, her hands kneading her own breasts. Alex growled low, his palms roaming over her hips and belly. This had not been planned. She had been waiting for him the moment he walked through the door—pulling him down, kissing him hungrily, before he could even speak. Moments later they were naked in bed, bodies joined, moving with desperate, burning need.It was fast, hard, and breathless. In less than half an hour they reached their peak together, as one. Melanie fell away to lie beside him, chest heaving.“Not like you to be so aggressive,” Alex said, glancing at her with a faint, knowing smirk. “Something troubling you?”Normally it was Alex who took charge—who was the more demanding, the more forceful, the wilder of the two.And his guess was right. Melanie was angry. Furious, in fact.“This afternoon… I we

But after all Marvin had done for her, her manner was no longer cold.Marvin glanced at Emily. “You intend to take her to your flat? She’ll live with you there… until she finds somewhere to stay?”Emily looked at Lisa. “We haven’t discussed it yet. We barely had time to speak before that tall, big man appeared. So for now… yes. I’ll take her home with me.”Marvin nodded and looked back at Lisa. She was so young, and so timid. In a busy city like Murndale, she was exactly the kind of woman predators preyed upon.“Then let me drive you there. Should we go now?”Emily and Lisa looked at each other and nodded, almost in uniso

  • Any Last Words?

It was none other than Walter. He strode down the steps into the basement. Though he carried no pistol or weapon of any kind, his presence alone bore down on the Black Skull members like a weight.Baron was less shaken, yet his eyes blazed with clear alarm. He turned to face his boss.“Baron, what the hell were you doing here? What did I order you to do?” Walter’s voice boomed, sharp and commanding. He fixed Baron with a glare that could have cut steel.Baron opened his mouth… then closed it again, swallowing hard. “You told me to bring these guys here… to help Marvin, Boss.”“Then what in heaven’s name do I see? Why are they pointing guns at him?!”“That is because…” Baron paused, searching for a plausible lie. But then he thought, why lie any longer? This could be the right moment to make Walter see the truth, that Marvin did not belong in the Black Skull.“Because…?” Walter’s voice cracked like a whip. He stood fully upon the basement floor now.Baron drew a breath. “So sorry, Bos

  • No Better Option

Marvin narrowed his eyes, standing and scanning every man there. These were unmistakably the members of the Black Skull. Yet by their stance and the look in their eyes, they answered entirely to Baron.“This is not surprising at all,” Marvin said calmly. “I expected this moment to come.”Baron smirked and stepped forward slowly. “We have unfinished business. Now seems like the perfect time to settle it.”Marvin replied nothing. He only offered a cold, knowing smile of his own.“Marvin… aren’t these… the same men who caused trouble at the Bowl of Heaven the other day?” Emily asked, her voice tight with alarm.Marvin glanced at her briefly. She was sitting close to Lisa—who looked bewildered, still struggling to understand what was happening.“Stay right where you are, both of you. Don’t worry. You’ll be safe,” Marvin told them, steady and unshaken. He turned his gaze back to Baron and his men. If this was to be the fight… then so be it. He would not hesitate to kill them—Baron above al

One hand rose before him, clenched as though catching something.Josh’s eyes bulged. He could not believe what he was seeing. Marvin stood untouched, unmoved. Where had every bullet gone?“Surprised?” Marvin sneered. “Confused?”He opened his palm, and a handful of bullets clattered to the floor.“What the hell…”Josh stared in utter disbelief.
