Chapter 1 Humiliated

In the bustling city of Plath, Alan is an unremarkable son-in-law who has married into his wife's family.

Three years ago, he married into the Mill family and since then has led a life of being looked down upon and mocked.

The Mill family is a somewhat well-known family business in Plath. However, Alan has no status at all in this family.

He does all kinds of odd jobs every day, and even the family's nanny looks down on him.

Three years ago, the then head of the Mill family, from nowhere, found Alan and wanted to marry his granddaughter Mia to him.

At that time, Alan was penniless and was no different from a beggar.

His cousin Carlson pushes the door open, hugging his new girlfriend. His eyes roam over Alan.

He deliberately bumps into the cake that Alan is holding. The cream instantly smears on Alan's chest.

Carlson's new girlfriend laughs exaggeratedly: Look, there are stains on his collar that can't be washed off. He looks just like a beggar.

Mia suddenly walks over from the crowd and says to Carlson: Changed another woman again? How many days will you play with her this time?

The face of Carlson's new girlfriend turned unpleasant instantly.

Mia takes out a brocade box from her bag and hands it to Gilmore, saying: This is a birthday present for you, Dad.

When the cake is cut, Carlson suddenly smears the cream on Alan's face. Brother-in-law, you should also get a taste of the good luck.

The sticky cream seeps into his eyelashes. Before Alan can react, Mia kicks Carlson away: Have you had enough of this nonsense? It's my dad's birthday today.

She takes out a wet wipe and stuffs it into Alan's hand. Her fingertips gently press on his palm, with an imperceptible tremble.

When the party ends late at night, Mia suddenly grabs Alan's hand.

Mia hurries to say: Mom, how can you talk like that? Alan is your son-in-law!

His mother-in-law says resentfully: Nonsense. I don't have such a penniless son-in-law! The farther you get away, the better!

Mia gives Alan a push and flees back to the room.

He and Mia have been married for three years, but they haven't had a real marital relationship. Mia sleeps on the bed, and he sleeps on the floor beside it.

Today is an important day for the Mill family. Alan is wearing an old suit that has been washed until it's a bit faded.
