Lyra Bricks stared at Gerald pitifully, having been reduced from landlord to another tenant. Though she no longer had to deal with the lifelong trouble of having her deceased father's debt weigh over her head, she felt incredibly pathetic. The young man she bullied and harassed was now her landlord.

Merely looking at her, Gerald could deduce what this woman was thinking.

“Oh, right! I almost forgot about you.”

Gerald swaggered over to the older woman, pulling out his designer wallet to retrieve a sum of $3,500. He then pulled out the stunned woman's hand and placed the cash in her palm.

“I know you're no longer the landlord, but I already promised to pay you tonight. I'm not gonna go back on my promise despite the changed situation.”

Lyra felt a simultaneous wave of humiliation for her situation and admiration for Gerald, still willing to keep his promise to pay his debt.
