Kael looked at Lyra silently, as if he could not believe what he had just heard. The slap wasn't something new to him, he had been hit many times by his mother-in-law and once from Lyra so this wasn't enough to shock him.

“Lyra…” his voice came out low. “My mother is dying.”

But her expression did not soften, Instead, her eyes turned colder.

“And what does that have to do with us?” his mother-in-law, Elowen Voss said sharply from the side.

“Your useless mother is not a responsibility of the Voss family and you aren't too, just divorce my daughter already.”

Kael’s fingers trembled slightly, but before he could say anything, his father-in-law waved his hand impatiently.

“Enough, you embarrassed me in front of my guests, and now you dare ask me for money? Kael, do you really think you deserve it?”

The other family members also joined in all cursing Kael at that moment. Kael was pained and angered, but he endured it. At that moment, his eyes returned to Lyra again.

After three years in this family, the person he wanted to hear kindness from the most was her, but Lyra only pointed toward the entrance again.

“I said leave.”

“Lyra…” he muttered in surprise, although no one in the family liked him, they were the ones who would always ask his wife to kick him out which she wouldn't pay heed to but today, she was the one asking him to leave.

Kael nodded slowly, he forced out a faint smile although it looked more painful than anything else, without a word, he turned around and walked out of the Voss Villa.

The moment he walked out, everyone now looked happy, especially Lyra's mom and Grandma. They had always advised her to send him out of the house but she never did, today she kicked him out on her own which was good news.

“Lyra, finally….

Before she could finish her words, Lyra just turned around and walked upstairs in anger.

Outside, Kael got onto the late night street with a sad expression.

“I’m now homeless and my mom is also on her death bed, what do I do?” Tears formed in his eyes for the first time as he asked, but then he wiped it and continued walking.

“Where do I even get 50 or 100k from? Did I come into this world to suffer? Lived as a worthless live-in-son-inlaw and even with that I still can't have a better life, dear Lord, why did you bring me into this world if meant to suffer?” He asked in a shaky voice before he sat on the pavement.

Right at that moment, he saw two black SUVs drive towards his direction.

Gulp!” Kael swallowed hard as he got up wondering why such cars would be driving towards him by this time of the night

“Are they robbers? Should I run?” He muttered. “No, which robbers rob with an SUV?” He thought to himself and kept still waiting to see what was happening despite being afraid.

Just at that moment, the two cars pulled up right beside him, the back glass of the car in front wined down and he saw two men in it, one of them wore an all white suit which shades very muscular looking, from just a glance you could tell that was a security and the other was just a man in his mid fifties dressed well.

“Kael Draven, hop in.” The man in his fifties said to him.

“Hop in?” Kael was stunned and looked around in confusion. Just then he paused as his shock doubled in realization. “He mentioned my name.” He looked at the man in surprise, it was his first time seeing him but he had already mentioned his name.

“Excuse me, who are you? And how did you know my name?” He asked, staring at the man.

“Kael Draven, son of Elaris and Rhevan Draven, is it appropriate to ask all these just by standing there? Get in.” The man responded

Kael's eyes widened, shocked more, Elaris was his mom and Rhevan too was the name of his late dad, this strange man seemed to know about him which surprised him. At that moment, although he was afraid, he pushed his fear aside and opened the car and got in. The moment he got in, the cars moved.

“Who are you? And where are we going?” He asked, turning to look at the man, but he didn't respond which feared him more. About a ten minutes drive, the car stopped at a quiet place and the man nodded at the security guard and the driver.

They both as if understanding what he had said quickly got down from the car leaving only Kael and him. Right after that, he turned to Kael and bowed his head lightly.

“Young master Kael, I've been waiting for this day and opportunity all my life.”

“Young master?” Kael muttered in shock. “Did you get the wrong person? I'm no young master, I'm Kael, did you mistakenly mix me up with someone else?” He asked

The man shook his head and said. “There's no mix up here Kael, I'm Vaeric Solthane, the keeper of the Ninth Seal.”

“Ninth Seal?” Kael frowned, getting much more confused. “What's that?”

Vaeric looked at him quietly for a few seconds before speaking.

“In this world, there are things ordinary people will never know exist,” he said calmly.

“Hidden powers, ancient organizations, underground rulers… forces that control things from the shadows while the rest of the world remains unaware.”

Kael frowned slightly, still confused. “What does that have to do with some Ninth Seal?”

“The Ninth Seal is not an object,” he said. “It is a position, one of the nine highest authorities beneath the Primordial Overlord.”

“The Primordial Overlord?” Kael muttered, a breathless, bitter laugh escaping his lips. “Is this a joke? That’s an urban legend, a fictional internet myth. Look, if you’re pulling some kind of scam to get money out of me, you’ve picked the wrong guy. My mother is dying in a hospital right now, and I don't have a single dollar to my name.”

The car became quiet for a moment, Vaeric Solthane looked at him silently before speaking slowly.

“In the eyes of ordinary people, wealth is power. They believe presidents, billionaires and great families stand at the top of the world, but they are wrong.”

Kael’s brows tightened.

“There exists another world hidden beneath the surface. A world ordinary people will never see. A world controlled by hidden organizations, ancient families, underground forces, intelligence brokers, assassins, rare artifact syndicates and shadow markets and above all of them all, stands the Primordial Overlord.”

“The Primordial Overlord is not merely a title,” Vaeric said. “It is authority, Influence and fear.”

Kael’s breathing slowed slightly, feeling a little bit scared, he didn't understand why he was being told all of this.

“This world, this fictional primordial overlord…” he muttered quietly. “What does it have to do with a nobody like me?”

Vaeric leaned forward.

“Because the myth is real, Young Master and your late father, Rhevan Draven, was the Primordial Overlord.”

At this point, she was already beginning to think Kael had simply been fooling everyone from the very beginning.Just then, another richly dressed young lady in the crowd suddenly widened her eyes as if she remembered something.“Wait… is he the live-in son-in-law of the Voss family? The useless one people in Velmoris keep talking about? I even heard he has been married for years and his wife still refuses to let him sleep in her bed!”The woman looked at Kael with visible disgust. “That is honestly pathetic, I cannot believe someone like this was actually competing with Miss Mirevault.”Kael was not bothered by the mockery around him at all. His face remained completely blank. He simply

What do you mean by that?”Ding! Ding! Before Kael could answer, his phone suddenly began ringing again, he brought it out wondering who it was this time, but the moment he saw the caller ID, he was stunned. Even your friends are either dating or married to businessmen, heirs and wealthy young masters, am I lying?”Lyra frowned after hearing that, even though she disliked the way Lily spoke about Kael, there was still truth in her words.Almost every woman around her social circle was already married or engaged to influential men. Some had husbands worth several millions. Some drove luxury cars worth more than entire houses.Others traveled around the world living glamorous lives, but here she was, stuck with a man she had to feed, a man who brought absolutely nothing to the table.
