Chapter Eight - Brutus.

"Just die!!!"

A thug swung a Cutlass. Draven simply sidestepped at the last second, the Cutlass slicing through the place he was standing earlier. The second thug was unfortunate planning to launch his own attack behind Draven was unfortunate. The sharp Cutlass cut off his arm from his shoulder cleanly. He staggered back, his eyes wide in horror as blood poured from the place.

"Ahhhh!!! My hand!! My hand!!"

The first thug already lost his focus seeing his original target missed. His cutlass lowered slightly, dripping with blood of his own men.

There was shock all over his face. He thought he already had Draven but he vanished just in a heartbeat.

"How..how is that possible?" His voice cracked.

With one punch to the gut, Draven silenced the screaming thug and delivered another kick that sent the last thug bursting through the roof, shattering the ceiling. Dust rained down like confetti.

The entire hall was silent.

Viktor was trembling with a mix of anger and fear now. Faint sheen of sweats glistened on his temple as his knuckles whitened around the arm rest.

Draven stared hard at Viktor, his eyes were empty, his expression cold as ice.

"If you ever come after my daughter, again.." he said, the warning in his voice clear. "...I will wipe you out from existence."

"You..you think because you killed a few thugs you can touch me??!" He screamed, his voice breaking with anger. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number with trembling fingers, eager to patch his broken pride. "Where the fuck are you?!! Get down right now!"

Draven began to walk away with Julie unharmed in his arms.

Something at that moment, something burst through the entrance, crashing into Draven and sending him skidding across the room. But he didn't fall. Only dust clung to his vest. Yet, despite the sudden attack, he was fast to protect Julie from whatever had just crashed into him.

He narrowed his eyes to the door. A tall figure stepped in through the dust. He was barefooted and shirtless, wearing only three-quarter pants that made him look like Hulk. His veins bugled under his skin, his eyes were dark, carrying the shade of death.

His name is Brutus.

A man forged with drugs and intense training that could have broken an ordinary man. An ex-military with history that no one had ever defeated in the wrestling world. He had won the heavy weight title and lost count before he became Viktor's machinery. Brutus doesn't just fight. He kills.

"Isn't that Brutus?!! Holy shit, that man is dead!"

"One single punch and he's unalived."

"Brutus is four times larger than his size. He'll crush him into dust."

Viktor grinned widely and clapped. "Let's see how you're going to survive now, cop. You're not leaving this place alive."

The spectators immediately went into an electric mode.

"Fight!! Fight!! Fight!!"

Brutus stared at Draven with murderous intents.

Viktor stepped forward, his hand clasped behind his back. His shoulder raises higher now, his confidence back in folds.

"Get down on your knees and apologize right now maybe. Just maybe I'll ask him to tear your limbs only and spare your life." He said coolly like he was giving Draven a second chance to live.

Draven stood straighter, his eyes moving from Brutus to Viktor

"You're a fool," He said, calm and unhurried, "if you think I'll knee before you because you brought in this thing."

The hall fell into a dead silence.

Then, whispers spread across the seats.

"Did he just call him a thing?"

"This is an embarrassment to Brutus!"

"This man already signed his death sentence! Brutus won't forgive this insult."

Brutus narrowed his eyes. It was already dark like a storm cloud.

"Did you just call me a thing?" His voice was deep and rough, laced with anger.

"So you're going to cry now?" Draven mocked. "Or what are you going to do about it, Critter?"

Brutus was already infuriated. His fist curled at the side. It was the size of a mallet head. One smash and the target is squashed to death.

"You arrogant filthy thing!!" He snarled, his vein bulging with black blood. "Get ready to die!!!"

He charged, his feet pounding the floor, leaving cracks beneath.

The hall leaned in anticipation.

"Brutus is angry. He's finished now!"

"This man insulted Brutus. He's going to die now!"

The hall had already concluded the outcome.

Viktor's grin— wide and vindictive, expecting Draven's body on the floor.

Draven didn't even move even as Brutus closed the gap. He was fast for a man of his size.

His arm cut through the air with brute force, shockwave followed the powerful swing. If it lands, Draven wasn't going to survive it— the hall had already concluded.

BAMM!

The punch landed.

And it was stopped by Draven. With just a single finger like the punch was just a feather.

Gasps rippled through the hall.

Viktor's eyes dilated, unable to believe what was witnessing.

"Did he just stop Brutus' punch with a finger? That's impossible!!" A man gasped, his voice breaking. "Even..with a single finger?!! This.. it's unbelievable."

Brutus's eyes widened in shock.

"What..what are yo..”

Then his gaze flicked to his shoulder. The gold eagle insignia on Draven's vest caught his eyes. His eyes shrunk immediately. He staggered backward, his entire body convulsing. He shook his head, frantically.

"This...is impossible.. no.. you're the supreme War commander..." His knee buckled and gave out to the concrete with a sharp crack. The hall gasped, confused and shocked by the situation.

Brutus reduced to the floor? Voluntarily in front of his apparent enemy? It was unbelievable!

He kowtowed, his head hammering against the floor and bruising, the concrete smearing with blood.

The apology tumbled from his lips fast.

"Master please forgive me.. please.. forgive me. I don't deserve to live. I don't deserve to..I didn't know..I. Didn't know it was you.."

Viktor squinted his eyes, confused about what was really happening.

A skeptical laughter escaped from his lips.

"Hey Brutus, have you lost your mind?!!" He said nervously. "What the fuck are you doing kneeling for this bastard when I asked you to grind him to dust yo.."

Brutus' head snapped up, his eyes darkening with rage. The veins on his temple bulged like vines.

"Did you just call him a bastard?" He snarled. "Do you know who he is!! What an insult!"

His fist crashed into Jackson's head in a devastating hook that threw him off his feet completely. Blood, teeth and saliva sprayed from his mouth, splattering across the concrete before his body collapsed heavily to the floor headfirst with the sickening sound of jaw shattering.

The hall gasped.

Draven asked his sharp eyes dropping to the burner steel box. "It belonged to Alessia's late mother, Evelyn Monroe," Marcus explained, keeping the box on a side table.
