*****

Ten years ago, after that same fire had reduced Zachariah’s home to ashes, a young lady had rushed through the flames and dragged him out with her bare hands.

Even while the enemies scoured the city like mad dogs, tearing it apart brick by brick in a desperate attempt to kill the last survivor, she had hidden him inside her closet.

Back then, they had threatened the entire city, vowing a fate far worse than death for anyone who helped him if ever discovered.

Yet she had ignored the threat… hiding him, tending his wounds, feeding him when his hands trembled too much to hold food, and caring for him for over three months until his master found him and took him away.

Those months were the darkest period of his life. But strangely, they were also… the sweetest.

That promise… to return still burned quietly in his chest.

However, none of the six kneeling men knew this.

They only knew that Zach wanted revenge.

However, even that truth alone was already far more than they could process.

….

At this moment, all six men remained kneeling on the ground, completely frozen.

Their mouths hung open, their jaws slack, and their eyes stretched wide as though they might tear.

Cold sweat drenched their foreheads as they stared at Zach like men who had just discovered the sky could fall.

For years, they had wondered about his past, how he became this powerful, why he never smiled, and why his eyes were always so cold and distant.

Some of them had even speculated, half-jokingly, that he might not be a mortal at all. After all, nothing about him… aside from his appearance felt human.

In fact, if one compared his terrifying strength to his physique, then even his appearance isn’t that of a mortal.

No sane logic could explain how a body so lean and so deceptively fragile-looking could house power capable of crushing nations.

And yet…

The truth he had just revealed?

It shattered every guess they had ever made.

They had known Zach for years… and yet none of them had imagined such a past.

None of them had guessed that beneath his calm exterior lay a wound so deep that it would have broken any one of them beyond repair, a burden so heavy it could crush gods.

Just like that, realization began to dawn on all six.

‘No wonder he had always been so merciless toward himself.’

‘No wonder he had always cultivated endlessly, never resting, no matter how strong he became.’

‘No wonder he rarely smiled… as if happiness was something he had misplaced and never bothered to retrieve.’

‘No wonder he had always seemed so distant… staring through space like someone forever standing at the edge of another world.’

‘No wonder…’

The six men… especially the four Gods of War, who had known Zach the longest and understood him better than anyone, couldn’t help but sink weakly to their butts, memories of the past with him rushing back with blinding clarity.

They began to recall every single moment they had shared with him and every decision of his that had left them bewildered.

Suddenly, the six men saw not the invincible Supreme War God, but a man with burdens, who had given everything.

Without even realizing it, Zach’s cold discipline no longer felt frightening. Instead, it felt… tragic.

The sheer magnitude of responsibility he had borne for ten long, punishing years struck them like a thunderclap. And then, slowly, a bitter truth gnawed at them… their own selfishness and greed.

For a decade, Zach had borne the horrors and sacrifices that would have crushed anyone else alone. Yet he had set aside his own vengeance to carry the nation’s suffering on his shoulders… a war that even had nothing to do with him personally.

And even now, after he had single-handedly ended the five-century battle, achieving the impossible… they had dared to demand more.

The realization hammered at them frantically, leaving the six with the urgent, humiliating urge to smash their heads against the nearest concrete wall.

They wanted badly to punish themselves for being so blind, greedy, and unworthy of even standing in his presence.

But before despair could fully consume them, one of the four Gods of War spoke, his voice cutting through the silence like a sharpened blade, steady yet charged with unyielding fire:

“Master,” he growled, his teeth clenched, and his voice both deep and resonant, almost vibrating with controlled rage, “I will also retire and follow to avenge your family.”

The words struck the others like lightning. In the next second, clarity surged through them.

“Master, I will follow you as well!” The remaining three Gods of War cried out in near-perfect unison.

Even the President and the Patriarch, usually the most restrained among them, snapped into action, urgency flooding their tone.

“Sir Supreme War God, allow me to go handle matters at the President’s office. I will hand over my post to my assistant immediately, gather the country’s army, and join you!” the President shouted, almost stumbling over his own haste.

“Me too, Sir Supreme War God!” the Patriarch cried out. “Please permit me to delegate my family duties to the next in line. I will also marshal all resources at my family to avenge your family!”

The six men reacted instantly, without the slightest trace of hesitation or doubt. Their fury and devotion flared in perfect unison, all of them appearing as though their minds moved as a single entity.

The air between them thickened with unspoken resolve, each heartbeat syncing with righteous anger.

Their eyes blazed with raw, primal intensity, their bodies trembling frantically... not from fear, but from a shared, blazing fury.

‘How dare anyone harm the Supreme War God’s family?!’

‘He is the pillar of this nation, and yet some fools dared to destroy what he holds dear?!’

‘This debt must be fully paid in blood!’

Murderous intent erupted from them like gathering storm clouds... wild and unyielding.
