Darsono and his dozen companions finally walked away from Arya’s room. After the members of the Red Eagle Sect descended the stairs, Arya followed them.

The late night and the closed eateries gave Darsono and his friends more freedom to act. They had no hesitation in beating up—or even killing—the young man.

Other guests had heard the commotion outside Arya’s room, but none cared enough to get involved.

Once outside, the dozen Red Eagle Sect members stood facing the inn's entrance, standing arrogantly as they awaited Arya’s arrival.

"So, you're brave after all, young man. I didn’t expect you to come out and face us," said one of Darsono’s tall and lanky friends.

"What should I be afraid of from pests like you? Honestly, you’re not even worth my time. But since your friend keeps chasing after my beloved with his dirty tricks, I have no choice but to teach him a lesson—so he learns to respect women!" Arya retorted with a mocking smile directed at Darsono.

On the other side, Elder Wiyasa responded to King Damarjaya’s words with a faint smile. If the ruler of the Purareksa Kingdom knew the true identity of the young man beside him, he surely wouldn’t have dared to speak that way."You may not know them now, Your Majesty, but in the end, they will be the ones to save you."King Damarjaya was slightly puzzled by Elder Wiyasa’s words. What could those two young people possibly do to help him? He himself, a king, couldn’t even save himself from the threat posed by Prince Dewalaksana."Perhaps I don’t believe what you say, Elder. But if you see something different in them, that’s fine. Alright, they may stay and listen to what we’re about to discuss. But on one condition—they are not to speak unless I ask them to," replied King Damarjaya."You can rest assured, Your Majesty. These two are young people whose words can be trusted. They will remain silent unless granted permission to speak."King Damarjaya inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly."Her

  • Free from Doubt

A pair of highly skilled young warriors, who also shared a special bond, walked away from the royal square of the capital city. They moved casually, unaware that two pairs of eyes were secretly watching them. "Let’s follow them, Surya. I’m still not convinced Jaya is here in the capital just for a short visit," said Prince Dewalaksana. "Alright. That’s probably for the best. I also want to be sure. Hopefully, Father’s words were right," replied Prince Suryalaksana. From a safe distance, the two princes followed Arya and Ratnasari until they entered a dining establishment. "So, what do we do, brother? Should we wait and confirm first, or what?" asked Prince Suryalaksana. Truthfully, he was eager to know whether his brother had already thought of the next move after realizing Jaya and the girl had gone into the restaurant. A soft sigh escaped Prince Dewalaksana’s lips. He still hadn’t come up with the next step. After waiting quite a while without hearing any reply from his older

  • The Confusion of King Damarjaya

King Damarjaya did not immediately answer Prime Minister Aswamarman's question. He needed more time to reconsider whether he should reveal everything. Fear lingered in his mind—fear that the secret he intended to share might leak to others."If Your Majesty feels hesitant and burdened to speak, then it might be better not to tell me. Let that secret remain hidden until the time comes for it to be revealed. But if the burden is too great to bear alone, I am ready to listen and help find the best solution."Prime Minister Aswamarman’s words were well-crafted—gentle, yet subtly persuasive. King Damarjaya immediately yielded, and without further doubt, decided to disclose his conversation with Prince Dewalaksana. He simply couldn't handle the pressure of thinking it through alone. All he now felt was confusion and regret. The visit from the Kings of Ayodya and Karnakemala had only brought disaster. After a deep sigh, King Damarjaya finally continued. "Prince Dewalaksana is planning a coup

Sorry, the previous chapter should have been titled The Cunning Smile.***A statement and a question so ambiguous came from Prince Dewalaksana that even King Damarjaya struggled to understand it."I don’t understand what you mean, Prince," replied King Damarjaya.Prince Dewalaksana grinned broadly. He sensed that King Damarjaya was just a few steps away from falling under his control."I have an offer for you, King Damarjaya. One that you’ll find hard to refuse because it will benefit you greatly." A sly smirk appeared on Prince Dewalaksana’s lips.King Damarjaya stroked his beard. He was suspicious of the sly smile the prince was wearing. Still, to find out what lay behind it, the ruler of the Purareksa Kingdom nodded."If it truly benefits me and can free me from punishment, then I am ready to cooperate with you, Prince," King Damarjaya replied."Hahaha… Not only will you be free from punishment, but you could even take control of the Candipuro Kingdom. But there is a condition yo

  • Regret

"Prime Minister, in your opinion, what is Prince Dewalaksana’s purpose for coming here?""I dare not be certain, Your Majesty. However, I sensed something unusual about his arrival," replied Prime Minister Aswamarman."So, you felt it too. What do you think it is?" King Damarjaya stroked his beard, which was covered in fine hair. Not wanting to dwell too long on the uneasiness he felt, King Damarjaya invited Prime Minister Aswamarman to meet Prince Dewalaksana.Without further words, the two of them quickly left the chamber and headed to the hall.Meanwhile, Prince Dewalaksana’s irritation, which had not subsided due to the rude treatment by the gate guards, was growing worse by the absence of King Damarjaya in the hall. He felt abandoned, left completely alone. After all, he was the son of King Dharmalaksana—whose rank was unquestionably higher than that of King Damarjaya. Not long after, the door to the hall opened. King Damarjaya and Prime Minister Aswamarman entered."Greetings, P

Even after declaring himself as the crown prince of the Sastrajingga kingdom, the soldiers still refused to let him see King Damarjaya. The soldiers based their decision on Prince Dewalaksana’s appearance, which didn’t reflect that of a prince.“If you still won’t let me in to meet King Damarjaya, I assure you—your punishment will be death!” Prince Dewalaksana threatened. The resolve of the eight gate guards began to falter. One of them took the initiative to report the situation to Minister Aswamarman, who was resting in his private quarters. The soldier gave a soft knock at the door upon arriving outside the minister’s room.A man of average height but a firm, sturdy build stood up as the door opened.“What is it, soldier?”The guard gave a respectful bow before reporting the incident at the palace gate.“Forgive me for disturbing your rest, Minister. I have come to report that som
