The Last Enemy
Julius stood between his family and the thing that had emerged from the broken First World, even Cael, who had spent centuries fearing the ancient presence beneath this world, seemed unable to find the words to describe what they were facing.The creature did not have a fixed form. Its body constantly shifted between light, shadow, flesh, and something that looked like empty space. The laughter from beneath the First World stopped, then the ground split open. Julius didn't wait for whatever was coming to reveal itself. Beneath the Ground
Julius stood at the edge of the enormous opening that had appeared beneath the First World. The darkness below did not look like an ordinary abyss. There was no visible bottom, and yet Julius could sense something waiting far beneath them, something so old that even the laws surrounding the First World seemed to bend around its presence. Behind him, the others were still recovering from the attack.Gabriel had regained enough strength to stand, although Adrian refused to let him move without support. Dark Julius had managed to close most of the wound in his abdomen, but the injury had taken more from him than he wanted anyone to know. Julius released his power, gor one terrifying moment, nothing happened. The ancient woman watched him with the same calm expression, almost as though she had been waiting for this exact decision. Around them, the First World remained frozen in the middle of its attack. Gabriel was still on one knee, blood spreading from the black wound across his chest, Adrian struggled to keep him conscious while Dark Julius leaned heavily against a broken structure, his breathing uneven. Cael's hand was pressed against the wound in his chest, and even Kael had been forced down onto one knee. Noah was the only one Julius had managed to completely shield but Julius could feel all of them.
