In Danger

Iron was restless. He tried to get some answers out of Jane, but after her last statement, nothing was working.

“Where is Hades?” He asked Eric.

“He hasn’t returned,” Eric answered.

“I need someone to get him for me here and now,” Iron demanded.

“Yes, Lord Dante,” Eric said and walked off in a haste.

With how restless Iron was, he knew that he had to handle things right away. He would be damned if he put aside his instincts or neglected warnings. Iron of all people knew the consequences of that.

Also, he was still expecting news from the other Titans that he sent to ambush Helheim. They were supposed to have returned, or even sent a signal as was done before, but he had received nothing from them so far, and it worried him.

Being back was one thing, but getting back control like it was before was a different ball game. Iron couldn’t say this to anyone, but a tiny part of him was feeling like he had missed out too much of everything.

However, he was still the king of the Titans, and he was determined to get them all back to how they used to be.

Hades eventually arrived when Iron’s patience was almost running thin.

“Where have you been?” Iron asked.

“To take care of a few things,” Hades answered.

“Leave us,” Iron told Eric who left almost immediately.

Iron wasn’t concerned about Hade’s movements. He trusted Hades with everything he had because they had been together for decades now. Also, while he was away, Hades had ensured that his throne remained vacant for whenever he would return. His only worry was how careful they needed to be out there.

Sometimes, it was easy to forget that they weren’t like the mortals, just like what Athena did at that bar. Even that, Iron hadn’t resolved.

“Is anything the matter?” Hades asked with concern.

“Vince Loreson,” Iron stated and Hades almost rolled his eyes.

“I thought we already settled that,” Hades said tiredly. “He is dead, even though he was the wrong target, and someone else has been apprehended for that,” he added.

“Yes, that,” Iron said, snapping his fingers as though he could physically pin down Hades’ words.

“What?” Hades asked.

“Who was arrested?” Iron asked.

He knew that he already ruled it off from his mind as one failed mission, and as soon as Hades was safe, he didn’t have to bother about it.

While he played house husband for Nesse, he had secretly kept watch. There was some group of species named the Sect that roamed around as though they were humans as well. Iron got to find out that they were not just dangerous, but also a threat to the Titans.

Worse, they were somehow linked to the Valhallahs.

One of them that Iron had had his eyes on was Vince. He hadn’t gotten the bastard’s last name, and so the moment he heard about Vince Loreson, he had concluded that he was part of the enemy. If Iron had done a proper research, they wouldn’t have killed someone else.

But Iron couldn’t dwell on that right now.

It was quite unfortunate that another man had to take the fall for someone else, but that was what the game entailed most times. Besides, Hera didn’t deserve to die as well, but she was gruesomely killed without mercy.

Iron didn’t even have the heart or emotions to feel anything about this mistake right now. He was only concerned about the words that Jane had spoken about.

“I didn’t find out,” Hades responded. “Why are we having this conversation again?” Hades asked.

Just like Iron, Hades didn’t really like revisiting old topics. They had talked about it, Iron had declared it a closed case, and that should have been it.

“What happened at the party before you killed him?” Iron asked.

“You haven’t told me what this is about,” Hades stated.

“Something has come up, and I need to figure it out,” Iron said. “Now, tell me,” he demanded.

“Nothing out of the ordinary, except that it is the usual boring party that these wealthy mortals throw regularly,” he answered flippantly.

“Just that?” Iron asked.

“Yes,” Hades responded.

“Nothing else happened?” Iron prodded.

He would have been pissed if he was the one being asked questions like this, but right now, he could care less. The most important thing was that Iron wasn’t making another mistake that would haunt him for the rest of his life.

One was enough to last Iron a lifetime.

“Nothing…” Hades started to respond again when he recalled something. “Oh, except that I did run into Nesse,” he said, his tone softening when he mentioned her name.

“You saw Nesse at the party?” Iron asked and Hades nodded.

Wasn’t it too soon for her to be partying? They just got divorced, didn’t they?

Anyway, he couldn’t really blame her, and quite frankly, he wasn’t even jealous. Besides, it was nothing but a contract, and also, he had gone back to his life, so she was very much free to return to hers.

“Yes, I did,” Hades said. “I asked her where Vince was but she wasn’t interested in the question, so I moved to someone else,” he explained.

“Why didn’t you tell me this?” Iron asked.

“Because I didn’t think that you would need the information,” Hades responded, shrugging.

Right there and then, it clicked!

“Nesse has been accused of Vince’s murder and arrested,” Iron declared.

Now, the sensory spot in his head had connected instantly to the words of Jane. It was something that worked in ways that could not be explained, but he got the message now, and it was very clear.

“How do you know this?” Hades said.

“The same way you know that someone has been arrested for his death,” Iron responded with a sneer.

He didn’t want to say that it was Jane who helped him with that, but aside from that, he could feel the danger looming. Jane’s words were nothing but the truth.

One thing about gut instincts for the Titans was that they never lied.

“Nesse is in danger,” Iron declared dreadfully.

IRON’S POV“Don’t beat yourself up about it too much, Lord Dante,” Blake kept telling me.For the entire day, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of what seemed like the recent revelation to me, and the guilt that everything the Titans might have been facing was all because of me.“The most important thing is that you now know that there is a problem, and in my opinion, that helps to tackle it,” he added.“You are just trying to be supportive, Blake, but it will not take too long before you tell the other Titans and a rebel will be planned against me,” I told him. From the previous day, to the entire night, and till this very moment, we were still deliberating on this particular issue.“You should know now that I don’t act that way, Lord Dante, and you might just be surprised at how loyal and committed the rest of the Titans are to you,” Blake said without sounding offended. “But speaking of Givan and Norman,” he added.I shook my head.Thinking day and night about it wasn’t going to cha

NESSE’S POVI stood in front of my vanity mirror and stared at my stomach. Before now, I would do it with dread, but I was tired of letting this damn disease to control how I handled things. I was always at the helm of every affair that concerned me.And this wouldn’t be different. But I had been stunned to speechlessness for a few minutes; the roundness in my stomach had increased since the last time I saw it.“Didn’t I take a look at it yesterday morning?” I asked myself.I did.I looked at it every freaking morning because each time I opened my eyes at dawn, that was the first thing that came to my mind, no matter how hard I tried to shove it off, and so, I always checked to ensure that I would never be taken unaware. But this morning, I was deeply taken unaware, and the swell I saw left me speechless for a few minutes.“When did it grow to this size?” I continued to ask myself.Till now, I couldn’t touch my stomach, and even when I showered, I ensured to keep off that area, in sli

  • Long Overdue Neglect

IRON’S POV“Hades is alive,” I said for the umpteenth time.I paced about the floor of my chamber and kept pondering on the thought.Blake was right here with me, but he had stayed quiet all along. The Titans had been locked up in a separate room until I had come to a conclusion on what I wanted to do with them.Death wasn’t the first thing that came to my mind.Right now, I was even still trying to digest everything that they had told me.“And he is the leader of the Valhallahs,” I added. These two revelations were doing my head in.As many times I had repeated the words to myself and out loud, I still couldn’t believe it. It felt as though Givan had merely cooked up a story, and I might not have honestly believed him if he hadn’t shown us the power that he had been given to bury beside our walls to weaken them.A lot of revelations had been spilled that left me utterly speechless.“The Valhallahs were part of the realms who attacked this Organization during the war that happened thr

HADES’ POVThe joy in my heart, knowing that I had murdered the Seer knew no bounds. As I made my way back to the Structure, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.“He is dead and gone,” I said to myself.Again, it was a good thing I kept Syron by my side. I saw his usefulness when no one else did, and now, he was working for just me.While I found my way to the Structure, I detoured.I wanted time to think about my next course of action without any distractions and questions, especially coming from Syron. He always meant good because he was downright loyal, but he was always intercepting my thoughts and decisions. In a few weeks, the walls of the Organization would be weak and easily penetrable. All I would need to do was get in, but I didn’t want to just go about things the way I did with the other realms the last time.We were able to weaken their walls and get in, quite alright, but we weren’t able to fulfill the mission of the whole plan, which was to get Iron; he was too powerful an

  • The Return

IRON’S POVBlake and I got there in time to see that it was the Titans who had fled from the Organization. The Titans guarding the walls of the Organization held them tightly. Were they trying to sneak their way back into the Organization?“What is going on here?” I asked in my stiff and firm voice. They stopped and stared at Blake and me.“We caught them trying to sneak into the Organization,” one of the Titans answered.“No, we weren’t,” the other Titan responded.I recognized him as Givan. The other one, Norman, was already almost shaking with fear because he already knew that there was punishment for what they had done, but as for Givan, he didn’t look very scared, or even if he did, he was good at shielding it.“Then what were you trying to do?” I asked them.“We are not supposed to be here,” Norman said.I decided here and now that I didn’t want to have this conversation here. Whatever it was, they were here now.“To my chamber,” I stated firmly. And without saying more than tha

  • The Hardest Thing To Tell

I watched Blake train the Titans, and just like the other trainings that I had watched, it was excellent. I could attest to the fact that the Titans were improving greatly.Blake had a fight with two of them, and surprisingly, they had learned to swing their weapons and keep themselves from getting hurt.Although not well enough because they were fighting with Blake, but they were way better than they used to be, and that was really impressive. As I watched them, I had no regret in making Blake my right hand man.He poured himself and everything he had into the Titans. There was nothing he hid from them, and I knew that soon enough, they would be just as brave and strong.I clapped when Blake ended the training session.“One hour to get something into your stomachs and rest, and then we are back here to continue with the training!” Blake told them firmly. They nodded in agreement. Then they jogged off, but they were also excited that I had clapped for them. I sensed their sense of enc
