When they arrived at the station, Nesse was ushered out of the car and led into the station, straight to the office of the detective.
She really hated to be in this situation, but as long as she was innocent, she really had nothing to be worried about.
“Have your seat, ma’am,” one of the officers said.
Nesse sat down and waited. She didn’t like being kept waiting, but she didn’t have any choice at the moment. Her mind drifted back to the check she had received a while back in her office from this unknown person.
And then it drifted to Vince Loreson and she shivered a little.
They had never really gotten along, and for some reason, Nesse couldn’t tell why. She just knew that Vince had been giving her cold shoulders and had attempted to antagonize her for a while. That was years ago, and she felt that it would have stopped, but even with their families trying to bring them together, it still didn’t stop.
And over the years, Nesse had grown to match ever hatred for hatred, and vile for vile, and antagonism for antagonism.
She knew how harsh the business world was, and she determined that she would never let anything or anyone to crush her, including Vince.
Now, thinking about the fact that he was dead and gone, a tiny, almost nonexistent part of Nesse had wished that she had tried to get along with him.
“And now, even in death, he has succeeded in creating problems for me,” Nesse muttered to herself as she waited. “You will never give it a rest, Vince, will you?” She asked, her voice floating into the air and possibly taking that question to wherever Vince might be now.
When the door opened and the detective walked in, Nesse was almost losing her patience.
“Nesse,” he said so casually that it almost made Nesse nauseated.
She had worked too hard to let anyone get too formal and casual with her, especially when she knew that if it was a man who was sitting in her position right now, he would be treated with more respect, especially from a sour looking man like the detective.
“Miss Nesse,” Nesse stated coldly.
“Pardon?” He asked as though he had some issues with his hearing, but Nesse knew that he didn’t.
“You will address me as Miss Nesse,” Nesse stressed.
He looked at Nesse, as though saying with his eyes that he couldn’t believe that of all things to be worried about, Nesse chose a method of addressing her.
“Weren’t you divorced recently?” He asked Nesse.
Nesse stared at him; something close to a cold glare and she became angry with Vince for putting her in this situation to be disrespected.
“He could have just stayed the hell alive, but no, anything to make my life a living hell,” Nesse complained internally.
She really wished that she could take out this frustration on him in person. It was always better that way, and definitely more fulfilling.
“What has that got to do with why I was brought here?” Nesse asked him without flinching.
“You see to have some kind of nerves, Miss Nesse,” he said with a tone of displeasure.
“Too bad you haven’t heard enough about me,” Nesse responded.
As long as she did not have a hand in Vince’s death, she would not be cowering any form of accusation, especially the one as bad as a murder. The detective was already trying to fish out what he could get from silly questions and deep, piercing gaze, but Nesse was ready for him.
“Why did you and your husband get divorced?” He asked.
“I still don’t know what this has to do with anything,” Nesse retorted.
“Well, a man just got killed, Miss Nesse,” he said, deliberately slurring his words as he called Nesse’s name just to mock and spite her.
Nesse knew that she didn’t have to be dealing with this, but for the sake of paying last respects, she just felt that she should, but the detective was growing increasingly unreasonable and she was getting close to her wit’s end.
“He was brutally shot on the head and left to die in his own pool of blood, and while everyone was panicking and trying to figure out what was going on, guess who was the first to take off? You, Miss Nesse,” he stated.
One more slurring of her name in that manner and Nesse would pluck his eyes out with her manicured nails.
She would have felt the shivers of Vince’s death being mentioned again, but the detective had succeeded in destroying the drop of sympathy left in her. Now, she only just stared at him with anger and hatred.
He was wasting her time.
“I went to my company because an emergency came up,” Nesse responded tautly.
“Perfect timing, isn’t it?” The detective asked sarcastically.
“Excuse me?” Nesse was almost losing it with this man.
“It’s called an alibi, Miss Nesse,” he retorted. “And the Loreson’s are not just grieving, but they are seeking vengeance,” he added.
“I didn’t kill their son,” Nesse stated firmly. “You can check my phone for the call, and even try to get a hang of the conversation I had with my secretary,” Nesse added.
“The Loreson’s don’t care for any of this, Miss Nesse,” he continued. “They are suing for manslaughter, and they are going really hard. I would advise a lawyer, but I doubt that even the best in the city would be able to save you right now,” he finished with a smirk on his face.
For a split second, Nesse wondered if she had had any problems with him before this incident happened.
“I didn’t kill Vince Loreson. How could I possibly do that as a woman?” Nesse asked, her patience running thin.
“A bar watched a woman effortlessly snuff life out of a man,” the detective said.
“And your point is?” Nesse asked with irritation.
She really wanted to get home and get out of these clothes that would forever remind her of the damn party that turned into Vince’s funeral.
“If you know anything that is going to save you, now is the time to say it,” the detective said. “Whatever you might have noticed in the party…” he stretched.
And Nesse remembered the stranger that asked about Vince’s whereabouts.

IRON’S POV“Don’t beat yourself up about it too much, Lord Dante,” Blake kept telling me.For the entire day, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of what seemed like the recent revelation to me, and the guilt that everything the Titans might have been facing was all because of me.“The most important thing is that you now know that there is a problem, and in my opinion, that helps to tackle it,” he added.“You are just trying to be supportive, Blake, but it will not take too long before you tell the other Titans and a rebel will be planned against me,” I told him. From the previous day, to the entire night, and till this very moment, we were still deliberating on this particular issue.“You should know now that I don’t act that way, Lord Dante, and you might just be surprised at how loyal and committed the rest of the Titans are to you,” Blake said without sounding offended. “But speaking of Givan and Norman,” he added.I shook my head.Thinking day and night about it wasn’t going to cha
Secret Anonymous Exposed!
NESSE’S POVI stood in front of my vanity mirror and stared at my stomach. Before now, I would do it with dread, but I was tired of letting this damn disease to control how I handled things. I was always at the helm of every affair that concerned me.And this wouldn’t be different. But I had been stunned to speechlessness for a few minutes; the roundness in my stomach had increased since the last time I saw it.“Didn’t I take a look at it yesterday morning?” I asked myself.I did.I looked at it every freaking morning because each time I opened my eyes at dawn, that was the first thing that came to my mind, no matter how hard I tried to shove it off, and so, I always checked to ensure that I would never be taken unaware. But this morning, I was deeply taken unaware, and the swell I saw left me speechless for a few minutes.“When did it grow to this size?” I continued to ask myself.Till now, I couldn’t touch my stomach, and even when I showered, I ensured to keep off that area, in sli
Long Overdue Neglect
IRON’S POV“Hades is alive,” I said for the umpteenth time.I paced about the floor of my chamber and kept pondering on the thought.Blake was right here with me, but he had stayed quiet all along. The Titans had been locked up in a separate room until I had come to a conclusion on what I wanted to do with them.Death wasn’t the first thing that came to my mind.Right now, I was even still trying to digest everything that they had told me.“And he is the leader of the Valhallahs,” I added. These two revelations were doing my head in.As many times I had repeated the words to myself and out loud, I still couldn’t believe it. It felt as though Givan had merely cooked up a story, and I might not have honestly believed him if he hadn’t shown us the power that he had been given to bury beside our walls to weaken them.A lot of revelations had been spilled that left me utterly speechless.“The Valhallahs were part of the realms who attacked this Organization during the war that happened thr
What Secret?
HADES’ POVThe joy in my heart, knowing that I had murdered the Seer knew no bounds. As I made my way back to the Structure, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.“He is dead and gone,” I said to myself.Again, it was a good thing I kept Syron by my side. I saw his usefulness when no one else did, and now, he was working for just me.While I found my way to the Structure, I detoured.I wanted time to think about my next course of action without any distractions and questions, especially coming from Syron. He always meant good because he was downright loyal, but he was always intercepting my thoughts and decisions. In a few weeks, the walls of the Organization would be weak and easily penetrable. All I would need to do was get in, but I didn’t want to just go about things the way I did with the other realms the last time.We were able to weaken their walls and get in, quite alright, but we weren’t able to fulfill the mission of the whole plan, which was to get Iron; he was too powerful an
The Return
IRON’S POVBlake and I got there in time to see that it was the Titans who had fled from the Organization. The Titans guarding the walls of the Organization held them tightly. Were they trying to sneak their way back into the Organization?“What is going on here?” I asked in my stiff and firm voice. They stopped and stared at Blake and me.“We caught them trying to sneak into the Organization,” one of the Titans answered.“No, we weren’t,” the other Titan responded.I recognized him as Givan. The other one, Norman, was already almost shaking with fear because he already knew that there was punishment for what they had done, but as for Givan, he didn’t look very scared, or even if he did, he was good at shielding it.“Then what were you trying to do?” I asked them.“We are not supposed to be here,” Norman said.I decided here and now that I didn’t want to have this conversation here. Whatever it was, they were here now.“To my chamber,” I stated firmly. And without saying more than tha
The Hardest Thing To Tell
I watched Blake train the Titans, and just like the other trainings that I had watched, it was excellent. I could attest to the fact that the Titans were improving greatly.Blake had a fight with two of them, and surprisingly, they had learned to swing their weapons and keep themselves from getting hurt.Although not well enough because they were fighting with Blake, but they were way better than they used to be, and that was really impressive. As I watched them, I had no regret in making Blake my right hand man.He poured himself and everything he had into the Titans. There was nothing he hid from them, and I knew that soon enough, they would be just as brave and strong.I clapped when Blake ended the training session.“One hour to get something into your stomachs and rest, and then we are back here to continue with the training!” Blake told them firmly. They nodded in agreement. Then they jogged off, but they were also excited that I had clapped for them. I sensed their sense of enc
