Chapter 1
chapter 1
Noah’s hands shook as he held the door handle. The boxes in his arms felt heavy. He had spent the last of his money that afternoon on new clothes for Emma. Nothing expensive. Just clean shirts and a soft blue sweater he thought she would like. He had even practiced the words he would say when he gave them to her.
Earlier that day Brandon had stopped him in the hallway and laughed at the cheap shopping bags. “Still wasting money on her? Pathetic.” Noah had not answered. He simply walked past. He was used to Brandon’s words by now.
The boxes slipped. Clothes and small bags spilled across the floor with a soft crash.
Then he heard her voice from inside the house.
“Noah is pure trash.”
It was Emma. His wife.
Noah’s throat went tight. He looked at the new black car parked in the open garage. That car had not been there when he left in the morning. He knew who owned it.
Tyler.
Noah pushed the door open and stepped inside.
His mouth fell open.
Emma was kissing Tyler right there in the living room. The same living room where she used to sit with him on quiet nights and talk about the future.
“Emma!” Noah shouted.
His face burned. His fists clenched so hard his nails dug into his skin.
Emma pulled away fast. For one short second her eyes looked scared and almost sorry. She opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something real. Then the soft look disappeared. She forced a cold laugh.
“What a clown,” she said, looking at Tyler. “Look at this poor fool.”
Noah’s blood ran hot, but he forced his voice to stay steady. He needed answers, not a fight.
“Why?” he asked quietly. “Just tell me the truth.”
Emma stepped closer. Her face twisted, but her voice shook for a moment.
“You really want to know?” she said. “My mother said if I stayed with you we would lose everything. Tyler has money. He has a future. You… you have nothing. I tried to care about you. I really did. But every time I looked at you I only saw a man who could never protect me.”
The words hit harder than a shout. Noah remembered every early morning he had left the house looking for work. He remembered every time Emma had smiled and called him “honey” while she helped him shave.
“I stayed because I loved you,” he said. His voice cracked, but he did not look away.
Emma’s eyes flickered again. For half a second she looked like she might cry. Then she laughed, sharper this time.
“Then go beg on the street like the rest of the trash. Or better—kill yourself. Do us all a favor.”
Tyler walked up and put an arm around her shoulders. He looked at Noah the way people look at something dirty on their shoe.
“Don’t waste time on this garbage,” Tyler said. “He’s disposable.”
Noah stared at them both. Something inside him hardened. He would not beg. He would not give them the satisfaction of seeing him break.
He noticed Tyler’s phone on the table, still recording their voices by accident. Noah filed that small detail away in his mind. He might need it later.
“Fine,” he said quietly. “I’ll go tell Mrs. Brooks right now. She hates cheaters more than anything. Let’s see what she does when I show her the truth.”
Emma’s face went pale. Tyler’s smile slipped.
Noah turned and walked out of the house. His legs felt heavy, but he kept his back straight on purpose. Let them think he was still the quiet fool.
He did not get far. Brandon stepped into his path again, the same mean smile on his face.
“Where do you think you’re going, trash?”
Noah did not answer. He simply stepped around him and kept walking toward the main mansion. Every step felt like he was leaving a part of himself behind, but he also felt something new — a quiet decision forming. He would not stay on his knees forever.
He found Mrs. Brooks sitting in her big chair. She looked cold as always.
“Mother,” Noah said, bowing the way they had forced him to learn. “I need to tell you something important.”
Before he could speak, Emma ran in crying. Real tears ran down her face this time.
“Mother! Noah cheated on me!” she sobbed. “He slept with a maid!”
Mrs. Brooks’ eyes turned red with anger.
“You know what you’re saying, Emma?” she asked in a low voice. “You cannot take this back.”
Noah stared at Emma. Even after everything, the lie still shocked him.
“She’s lying!” he said, keeping his voice calm on purpose. “I caught her with Tyler in our living room. His phone is still on the table. It recorded everything.”
Mrs. Brooks stood up. Her voice shook the whole room.
“Am I a joke to all of you?”
Brandon walked in with a young maid. The girl dropped to her knees. Her whole body was shaking and her eyes were full of real fear. Noah recognized her. That morning she had quietly handed him a clean towel after Brandon pushed him into the pool. She had not said a word, but her eyes had been kind.
“Punish me, Mother,” the maid cried. “I have been sleeping with Master Noah for months.”
Noah’s mind went blank for a second. He had never spoken more than two words to her. Someone had forced her. He could see it in the way her hands trembled.
Mrs. Brooks’ face turned dark with pure rage.
“On your knees!” she screamed at Noah.
Noah dropped down. In this house her word was still law. He had learned that years ago. But this time he looked straight at the maid and gave her the smallest nod, trying to tell her he knew it was not her fault.
“Take him away!” Mrs. Brooks ordered. “I will decide what to do with this trash later.”
Two big men grabbed his arms and dragged him out. They threw him into a small dark room. The steel door slammed shut with a heavy sound.
Noah sat on the cold floor. His clothes were still wet from the pool. His whole body shook.
Everything he knew was gone. His wife. His place in the family. His pride. The small hope he had carried for years that one day they would see he was worth something.
He had loved Emma. Really loved her. He had taken every insult, every cold look, every blocked job, because he thought she needed him. He thought if he stayed long enough and worked hard enough, she would remember why she married him.
Now he knew the truth. She had chosen safety and money over him. The whole family had used him.
Noah pressed his back against the wall and closed his eyes. For the first time in years he felt completely alone. But he did not cry. He made himself one quiet promise in the dark.
He would not stay broken. And he would not forget the maid’s frightened eyes either.
A soft chime sounded in the silence.
A blue screen appeared in front of his eyes.
Ping. Host found.
Ping. Fortune System activated.
Ping. Host agrees to lend body for three days. No interruption to daily life.
Ping. Host has entered one trillion dollars.
Ping. Reward will last one hundred years.
Noah stared at the glowing words. His heart pounded hard.
He reached out and touched the screen. It felt real under his fingers.
Suddenly new words flashed bright red.
URGENT MISSION UNLOCKED
Survive the next twelve hours.
An old enemy has already entered the Brooks compound.
If the enemy finds you before sunrise, the system will shut down forever.
Reward for success: full control of first billion dollars.
Failure: total memory wipe and permanent power loss.
Noah’s blood turned cold.
The door to the dark room creaked open just a little.
A soft voice whispered from the hallway.
“Found you… Noah.”
The voice did not belong to anyone in the Brooks family.
Noah scrambled to his feet. The blue screen still glowed in front of him.
Outside the thin crack of the door, a shadow moved closer.
The twelve-hour clock had already started counting down.

The Trash Husband Who Held the Deadliest Secret Chapter 10
Noah and Kara stopped two streets away from the Hale private club. The building was tall and clean, with bright lights and two men in suits at the front door. Expensive cars pulled up every few minutes. Laughing voices drifted out every time the door opened.Noah felt the ten thousand dollars in his pocket. It was real, but it still felt strange, like it might disappear if he blinked too hard. The clean clothes still did not feel like his.“We can’t walk in the front,” Kara said. “They know both our faces by now.”Noah watched the side of the building. A service door opened for a delivery van. Two kitchen workers stepped out for a smoke.“There,” he said. “Service entrance. If we time it right, we can follow them back in.”Kara looked at him. “And then what? We just walk around until we find Victor’s notebook?”“We look for the top floor. The notebook said that’s where he keeps it. We get proof about my parents and we leave. Nothing else.”Kara was quiet for a moment. Her fingers tigh

The Trash Husband Who Held the Deadliest Secret Chapter 9
Noah and Kara found an empty parking garage on the edge of the industrial side of the city. It was quiet, dark, and full of old cars that no one used anymore. They sat on the concrete steps near the back wall.Noah took the blue notebook out of the backpack and held it. The frozen account message still sat in his phone like a stone. Four thousand dollars in cash was all he had left. The clean shirt on his back still felt like it belonged to someone else.“Midnight,” Kara said. “That’s six hours.”Noah nodded. “Victor wants the notebook. If I give it to him, he wins. If I don’t, the police report goes out and my face is everywhere.”Kara leaned her head back against the wall. “There’s another way. We could leave the city tonight. Start over somewhere else with what’s left.”Noah looked at her. “Is that what you want?”Kara was quiet for a long time. When she spoke, her voice was soft.“Part of me does. I’m tired of running. I’m tired of looking over my shoulder every hour. But if we le

The Trash Husband Who Held the Deadliest Secret Chapter 8
Noah and Kara kept walking until the streets grew quieter. They found an old storage room behind a row of closed shops. The lock was broken. Inside it smelled of dust and cardboard, but no one would look for them there.Noah sat on a wooden crate and opened the backpack. He took out the memory stick with the scanned pages and the original blue notebook. Both still felt heavier than paper should.Kara leaned against the wall and checked her phone. Her face changed.“Victor already posted something new,” she said. She turned the screen so Noah could see.The photo showed the front of the bank. Under it Victor had written:The Brooks family raised a thief. He stole money that was never his and ran with a known traitor. Anyone who helps him will answer to us.Ricky had left a comment under the post: Always knew the trash would show his real face. Can’t wait for the next part.Noah felt the words land in his chest the same way they always did. Even with money in his pocket and proof in his
