The sound of heels could be heard as Charlotte walked into the living room. She was wearing different clothes from last night—an elegant beige blouse and a slim black skirt. Her look was flawless and unmatched.

Her gaze swept across the living room, looking a bit tired

Mark looked up from the sofa. He was sitting with his arms resting on the armrest. He appeared to be focused on the series playing on the huge-screen television, but he wasn’t. Instead, he was lost in his thoughts before the sound of her heels interrupted him.

He only took a glance at her and turned back to the television. This subtle action of his didn’t go unnoticed by her.

“What’s it? You don’t look happy to see me, honey. Can’t you see how tirelessly I’ve been working throughout yesterday? Right now, I’m very tired and really need a massage. Can you help massage me, honey?”

She spoke with a small voice, trying her best to sound pitiful. She sat on the sofa beside him, giving him a look like she wanted to be spoiled.

Mark completely ignored her and continued staring at the TV blankly.

She felt irritated, her voice rising. “Mark! Did you hear me? Or are you deaf?”

Silence.

He didn’t reply or even move.

Her lips pressed into a thin line, her irritation growing. She couldn’t help but compare him to Daniel inwardly.

'Daniel would never make me repeat myself. He’s such a good guy. And he also has useful connections, unlike this useless husband of mine. If it were him, he’d probably massage my shoulders without complaints. He always knows how to treat a woman right.'

“What’s with you today? You’ve been silent like you lost something important or someone important died,” she snapped, her voice sharp and clearly carrying her irritation.

Mark finally moved. He looked at her beautiful figure, with her back resting on the arm of the sofa, staring at him with folded hands. He sighed heavily, ready to ask the question that had been hanging on his mind.

“Charlotte,” he said calmly, “what were you doing last night, and why didn’t you answer my calls?”

She stiffened. “What do you mean?”

He didn’t reply and continued staring at her intently.

She felt a bit guilty, but her irritation rose faster. Crossing her arms, her tone turned defensive. “I told you I had a celebration banquet. We had a few drinks, and my battery was dead, so I didn’t see your calls. Do you have to interrogate me like I’m a thief?”

Mark stared at her for a few seconds. Without saying anything, he pulled out his phone from his pocket.

“I see. Then, can you explain this?” He showed her his phone screen playing the video.

The sounds of cheers filled the room as last night’s events played out on the screen.

Charlotte froze. She was in disbelief and panicked slightly, but pride took over almost immediately. “Where did you get that?” she demanded.

Mark remained calm. He didn’t show any expression, which unsettled Charlotte. “It doesn’t matter where. I just want you to explain that to me,” he replied.

“You…” she felt her anger rising to the top. How dare he question her? Isn’t he just useless? What right did he have?

She snapped immediately, snatching the phone from him and sending it clattering to the floor. “How dare you film me secretly? What kind of stupid obsession is this?”

For the first time that evening, Mark’s expression faltered. His chest rose and fell slowly, but his voice remained calm.

“So it’s true…?”

Charlotte’s heart was filled with guilt. She felt pain seeing his disappointed expression, but she refused to back down. Instead, she raised a finger at him, her loud voice filled with anger.

“So what if it’s true?! Look at you, Mark! Look at your life right now! What do you even have to offer me? You are just so useless. I need a husband I can be proud of, not some… some servant who only knows how to cook and do laundry!”

Her words stung him like bees, but he didn’t break his calmness.

“So that’s why you cheated, right?” he asked, his expression unreadable.

Charlotte opened her mouth, but she couldn’t get a word out. His calm demeanor and tone unnerved her, making her unable to come up with a retort. She felt like she was making a huge mistake, as if she were losing something important, but her pride wouldn’t allow her to think clearly.

“If you say it’s true, then fine.”

A silence followed.

Mark smiled wryly. Charlotte’s heart almost leaped to her throat, and she felt tense. It was like something bad was about to happen.

He bent down and took out a document from a small drawer beside the sofa.

“I stayed up all night wondering if that video was fake,” he said quietly, placing the folder on the table. “I thought maybe it was one of your competitors trying to smear you. But now I know the truth.”

Charlotte was startled. “What’s this?”

“A divorce agreement,” he replied flatly.

“What!” She looked at him in disbelief, like she was seeing an alien. “You… you prepared this?”

He ignored her and quickly signed the document before handing it over to her.

“Here, I’ve signed my part. Now it’s all left to you,” he said, handing her the divorce papers. “Don’t worry, I’m not the kind to cling, and I won’t expose anything about our marriage or divorce agreement to anyone. So you can be rest assured.”

Charlotte quickly panicked. Things were moving too fast for her to comprehend properly.

“So this is it?” she snapped, her voice trembling. “You’ve been planning to divorce me all along, haven’t you? Just waiting for me to make a mistake so you could shove these papers in my face, right?!” she cried out accusingly.

“Or is there someone else?” Her voice cracked. “You’ve probably found someone better, and you want to throw me away now, right?”

Mark looked at her, his gaze a mix of weariness and disappointment. “Calm down and think carefully, Charlotte. I can see you’re not in your right mind now.”

“Don’t tell me to calm down!” Her loud voice shot through the roof of the house.

But Mark only sighed softly, like a man finally letting go of something he had clung to for too long. “I’ll come back to collect this in three days,” he said, rising to his feet.

He picked his phone from the floor and slid it into his pocket. He turned and left. Just as his hand touched the door handle, her voice exploded behind him like a shattering wave.

“If you walk out this door today, don’t think about coming back! You’ll regret it!”

Mark only paused briefly before pulling the handle.

"Can you leave already?" Mark demanded, his voice cold enough to send a chill down Simon’s spine."Who... who are you?" Simon stuttered."Her boyfriend. Now leave." Mark repeated calmly, but firmly."Boyfriend? So you have a boyfriend, Anna? You followed me on a date and we even kissed. How could you be so vile?" Simon snapped.Anna froze in disbelief. "Wait... did you just say we kissed?" She needed to be sure she heard correctly."Yes, am I lying? We even did more than that."Pah!The slap echoed through the room. Simon’s eyes squeezed shut as pain exploded across his face. He could not believe such a gentle looking girl could strike with that kind of force. For a dizzy moment he thought he saw two of her."Are you satisfied now? Leave." Anna said firmly."You slapped me, you..." he began angrily, but Mark had reached his limit. He grabbed Simon by the shirt and lifted him effortlessly."My girl said you should go. So fuck off." He growled, then threw him to the side.Simon hit the

The ride home was mostly silent. Anna bit her lip, feeling a bit nervous. She was confused about Mark’s stance. He still had not made anything clear.“I am sorry that I left the country without telling you,” he said.“You already apologized on the phone. I forgave you long ago, and you did nothing wrong anyway. It is not as if we are dating,” she replied, studying his face as she emphasized the dating part to watch his reaction. His face remained expressionless, revealing nothing. He calmly pulled over in front of a grocery store.“You want to get groceries?” she asked.“Mmm. Come.”They walked inside the grocery store. They bought rice, sauce, meat, and many other items.“I never imagined someone like you shopping for groceries,” she whispered. He smiled but said nothing.Meanwhile, the other customers saw them as a lovey dovey couple. Many of the women looked excited, since it was rare to see a man buying groceries with his wife or girlfriend. After shopping, he drove straight to he

Mark breathed in deeply. Finally, he was back in York City. He walked calmly down the plane."Boss!" Liam called as he approached.Mark casually handed him his suitcase."How are things going? Are our people ready to receive the shipped stones?" he asked."Rest assured, boss, everything is ready," Liam assured him."Good. How is Sico Technology faring?"Liam knew the question was connected to Warren's videos."I have requested the videos be taken down and warned the media houses. But it seems there is someone else behind this, and I was not able to succeed completely because they keep protecting the media," he explained."They want to bully me?" Mark smirked. "Then they should be ready to be bullied in return."Whoever was instigating this seemed to think they were only fighting Sico Technology and Willstark."Investigate the person thoroughly for me," he said as they entered their car in the parking lot."I have already done some checking. Here is what I found." Liam handed him a doc

Simon returned."It seems you are bored here. Let's go to the bar counter and have a drink," he offered. She thought about it and nodded. Since she was already here she might as well have a drink before going home.Simon brought her to the counter."Bartender, two shots please." He smiled and gave him a wink. The bartender nodded and poured two shots for them. He handed Simon the first shot and Simon passed it to Anna.Anna was about to take it when her phone rang. She looked at the screen and saw it was Mark. For some reason she suddenly felt guilty."Excuse me, I have to take this." She left the bar and walked some distance away while Simon silently cursed whoever had called her."Hello." She answered coolly."Anna, how are you? I heard what happened. Are you alright?" he asked."Yes, thanks for asking, Mark." She tried to sound polite and distant.Mark frowned. "I am coming back tomorrow, Anna. We need to talk.""Oh, is it about business?" she asked."No. When did we even start tal

A military boat loomed into view."What is a military ship doing here? I don't think they patrol this area, huh?" Isabella asked worriedly.Mark remained calm as he watched them block off their boat."What should we do? Should we exchange fire with them?" she asked, still anxious."Not advisable." He shook his head. "They have the height advantage and can just shoot down at us. They might even throw grenades.""Fuck. Well, I think we can convince them that we are not a threat to the Panya government. After all, other boats pass through this route sometimes.""It is not a Panya military boat," Mark replied, lightly shaking his head. "It is likely a Burusia military vessel illegally exploring this area to see if they can locate gold on any of the uninhabited islands. And they will not be happy that we saw them here.""So...?""So they will either kill us or capture us." He replied. "More likely they will capture us because they will not want to open fire and attract attention, so they w

The full advertisement rollout for the Supercell battery was in progress. Many investors heard about the project and became interested, but Anna had to decline their offers since Willstark would be providing all the funding needed.Things were going well, and she had successfully removed the production line at Austra while relocating the Supercell battery lab from York City to Austra. All the necessary materials had been purchased, and only one final component remained, which the Willstark representative claimed was already on the way. They were also working on securing partnerships with phone companies. To that effect, she had found a company called Vovu. They were about to release a new phone, and if production of the Supercell battery began before two months, Vovu would receive the first supply. Sico Technology would then wait four months before releasing sales to the wider market.By then, Vovu’s new phone was expected to sell like hot cake. But to secure that priority position, t
