Vincent’s thumb hovered over the screen for a second.

One tap.

Transfer Confirmed: $10,000

Another tap.

Transfer Confirmed: $50,000

One final swipe.

Transfer Confirmed: $2,000,000 – Acquisition Processing: City Hospital Holdings

The nurse’s jaw dropped as she stared at his phone screen like it was a magic scroll.

“You… You just… Wh-What—?”

Vincent didn’t blink. “Paid the bills. What does it look like?”

She stammered, backing up a little. “S-Sir, I didn’t know. I mean, I was just following orders—”

“You followed them like a dog, a well behaved one,” he muttered, brushing past her. “But I’m the one holding the leash now.”

The nurse flinched.

Billy was still clutching his face at the corner, pacing back and forth, ranting to himself.

“You demented bastard, do you even really know who I am? You think you can put your dirty, poverty-stricken fingers on me just like that? I’ll ruin you! I’ll have your life turned inside out, you hear me?!”

Vincent didn’t even look in his direction.

He walked a few feet away from Billy and pulled out his phone, sleek and black, then dialed without hesitation. Macul answered on the first ring.

“Yes, Young Master?”

Vincent’s voice was calm—ice cold.

“I want the current hospital director relieved of duty. Effective immediately.”

Macul didn’t miss a beat. “Understood. His name?”

Vincent's eyes flicked toward the chaos still unraveling in the hallway, then back to the nurse who was now frozen a few feet away, her hand still holding his mother’s chart.

“Cornell Corners,” he said, voice low, but firm enough for the nurse to hear.

Her eyes widened—first in confusion, then in fear.

Macul’s voice returned, smooth as silk. “It will be done, sir.”

Vincent ended the call, slid the phone back into his pocket and waited.

Billy, still ranting, didn’t hear a word.

But the nurse?

She did.

And her knees nearly buckled under her own weight.

“I said get that old hag this bastard calls a mother out of this hospital now!!!”

The nurse shook her head. “I’m sorry, T-that won’t be possible sir, Me Vincent just paid the bill and more to last at least a year.”

“What?! Are you crazy too? Where do you think this pauper will get that type of money?”

Vincent tilted his head to the side. “Where? Are you shocked?”

Billy burst into laughter from the corner. “Pfft—HA! What are you on, Vincent? What, you rob a bank on the way here? You were begging for shift hours two days ago, and now you’re throwing around millions like you run Wall Street?”

Vincent walked calmly toward him, but Billy kept laughing, pressing the ice pack harder against his cheek.

“You expect me to believe this nonsense? What’s next, you’re secretly a prince? Or maybe you got adopted by Jeff Bezos on the way out of that restaurant?”

Vincent didn’t answer. He just kept walking.

Billy stepped forward, eyes narrowed but still smirking. “No seriously. What scam did you pull off, huh? Sold a kidney? Or maybe you hacked someone’s account? Oh my God—you’re doing fraud now, aren’t you?” He snapped his fingers mockingly. “Of course. That explains it. You’re just a broke punk with delusions of grandeur.”

Vincent didn’t stop.

He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a sleek, black business card, holding it between two fingers.

“Here’s how.”

Billy scoffed. “The hell is this? A charity card?” He snatched it, flipping it over without care.

But when his eyes hit the gold-embossed logo, the smirk started to fade. Just for a second.

Then he laughed again—louder. Wilder.

“Oh, this is rich! MAXINE CORP?! Are you serious right now?” He threw his head back. “You’re really going around pretending to be tied to Maxine Corp? Do you have any idea how stupid you sound?”

He stepped back, pointing at Vincent like he was the punchline to a joke.

“You’re going to jail, you know that? I’m calling the cops. Right now.”

Vincent remained indifferent, watching him like he was just air in the room.

Billy dialed fast, yelling into the phone. “Yes, officer! I’m at City Hospital and there’s a man here—he slapped me, he assaulted me, and he STOLE a corporate black card from someone in Maxine Corp. That’s the only way he paid off anything—he’s a thief, a fraudster! Come quick!”

He ended the call with a dramatic breath. “You're done. You hear me? Done. You’ve really lost your mind, Vincent. First Jenny dumps you, now this pathetic little cosplay. What’s next? You gonna tell me you own the damn moon?”

Vincent still didn’t flinch.

Minutes later, two uniformed police officers arrived in the lobby, walking briskly.

“That’s him!” Billy shouted, pointing at Vincent. “He slapped me! And he’s using a stolen Maxine Corp card to pay off hospital bills! Arrest him!”

One officer approached Vincent calmly. “Sir, may we see the card in question?”

Vincent handed it over without a word.

The officer inspected it carefully… then slowly, his brows furrowed. His partner stepped forward, looked at it—and immediately went stiff.

“This… this isn’t a fraud card,” the officer muttered. “This—this can’t be forged.”

The other officer nodded, wide-eyed. “Only the legitimate heir to Maxine Corps has this access.”

The two officers turned fully to Vincent—and bowed.

Bowed.

“Sir,” one said respectfully. “We apologize. We had no idea we were in the presence of a Maxine.”

Billy’s mouth dropped open.

“Wait—what? What are you saying? This loser? No. No way. He’s—he’s not anyone. He’s nobody!”

The officer didn’t respond. He straightened and addressed Vincent again.

“We don’t want any trouble with Maxine Corps, sir. Please let us know if you’d like to press charges.”

Vincent didn’t answer. He simply turned away.

The officers bowed once more and left quietly.

Billy stood frozen, his jaw working but no words coming out. His face was pale, twitching with disbelief. “What the fuck is happening?”

Just then, two security guards walked into the waiting area, escorting a red-faced man in a lab coat. His tie was hanging loose, hair disheveled, and he was shouting.

Macul cleared his throat gently, his tone still warm with excitement. “Young Master Vincent, I believe it’s time you come with me to Maxine Corps. You need to be properly introduced to the board and the major employees. They deserve to meet their true CEO.”Vincent nodded slowly, his mind still reeling. “I will. But… I want to see my sister first.”A light smile curved Macul’s lips. “I had no doubts you’d say that. You two were so fond of each other. I believe when she sees you—when she feels your presence—it will spark something within her. A miracle might happen.”Vincent’s heart clenched. Just the thought of having a sister lying in a hospital bed, in a coma, sent a wave of protectiveness through him. “Then I’ll see her soon.”“Of course.” Macul reached into his suit pocket and pulled out a golden card. It shimmered beneath the suite's crystal chandelier. “In the meantime, please accept this. It’s the access card to this entire suite. You can stay here comfortably until I arrange t
