“Brian, is that you?” Arya flickered, but her eyes could barely stay open.

The weakness had taken over entirely, but she was convinced that it was Brian holding onto one of the babies while her mother held onto the other.

“You did it, Love…” Brian broke the silence, staring at his wife with his smile intact.

He bent slowly and planted a kiss on her forehead.

“Congrats, baby. You just made us parents…”

Arya laughed faintly, pushing the smile on her face.

“I can’t believe those two just came out

Brian had no intention of swallowing the insult, the sensation getting stronger than he imagined.“What exactly do you want?” He asked, then he took a deep breath. “Money? Name your price…”Gabriel’s eyes lit up, his brows curved slowly.“Are you trying to bribe me?” He asked, turning to Laura.“Is your boyfriend trying to bribe me?” It was hard for him to pretend as though he didn’t like what he heard, returning to Brian with his mouth getting watery.“You know I can delete the video I just made, right?” He waited, turning to Valerie as though he was trying to read her countenance. The lady was too flustered to speak, yet she was quietly observing the scenario.“Erm…” Gabriel cleared his throat, returning his gaze to Brian.“Ten million dollars…” He said greedily, still rethinking his choice.“No…” He took his words back, shaking his head slowly.“That’s too small for a wealthy tech CEO like you…” He exhaled sharply, then made a quick estimation in his mind.“Twenty million dollars.

“Don’t say that, Gabe…” Valerie said, her voice barely above a whisper.“Don’t talk like that; you know that we are thankful for everything you have been doing for us…”“Oh, please!” Laura scoffed, rolling her eyes slowly.“What was that?” Gabriel shifted his gaze to her in an instant, glaring at her with dark eyes.“Do you have anything to say, Laura?” He asked, gritting his teeth.“Go ahead…” He urged, his hands vibrating. “Say it!”Laura flinched, taken aback by the man’s outburst.“Are you going to deny the fact that I have not been the one taking care of you and your mother? I am sure you remember those days she used to take you to see one man to the other. Can you tell me the things they used to do to her?”Laura felt an intense nausea running through her spine. She staggered backward without really making any move, her chest tightening.Tears welled up in Valerie’s eyes as well, even before she exchanged eye contact with her daughter.“That was in the past, Gabe. You can’t keep

“That is the only reason why I am going to let her continue working for you. But know this…” Valerie pointed out, the same amount of disapproval flashing in her eyes.“I am never going to give my approval to this arrangement. We have had enough of men trying to take advantage of us. I always knew that silly boyfriend of hers was no good news. He couldn’t even afford to take her on a proper date. She paid for it…”“Mum!” Laura gasped, eyes wide with shock. She turned to Brian, but could barely maintain eye contact with him, due to the cringe that enveloped her.“Nothing should happen to my daughter, Mr. Regal…” Valerie warned, glaring at Brian, even with the obvious height difference.“She is all I've got…”“I promise…” Brian began in a low tone, then he went higher. “Nothing is going to happen to your child. She is my sister…”‘Mm…” Valerie huffed, refusing to budge easily.“I am going to remind you of this. Don’t think because you are rich and influential, you can get away with anyth

  • Rising Disapproval

“What have they done to you?! What happened?!” She almost ran into Brian, but thanks to his quick reflexes. Her hands were trembling with the panic that gripped her; her eyes welled up with tears. The only difference between her and Laura was age; every other thing was the same.Even the age difference needed careful observation before it could be discovered.“Who did this to you?!” She sniffled, her voice quivering from the start.“Tell me…” She held onto her daughter, while more tears streamed from her eyes.“Mum…” Laura called out, her eyes flashing with disapproval.“You don’t need to worry; I am fine…”“How can you tell me that?!” The upset lady snapped, rolling her eyes in annoyance.“Look at you…” She pointed, boiling at the sight of the bandages and plasters. “You look like you had gotten into a fight. Look at what they did to you…”“At least I am fine now. All thanks to Mr. Regal here…”The lady turned, but hardly acknowledged Brian’s presence. She returned her gaze to her da

“I know you probably don’t want to hear this again, but thank you so much for saving me…”Laura had a faint smile on her face, and only a fool could consider it ingenuine. She waited, but was not entirely patient enough to get a response from the man standing in front of her.She sat up, but failed in her attempt to stand up from the bed.Groaning at the pain inside her head, she reached up with both hands, eyes tightly shut.“Are you okay?” Brian hurried to her, then sat next to her on the bed.“My head…” Laura pushed backward, resting her head on the pillow behind her.“It bangs...” Her visage didn’t clear, still expressing the same pain she had been dealing with.“You are going to be fine, Laura. The Doctor said it's just a concoction. With the right care, and if you don’t abuse your medication, you could be leaving this place in no time…”Laura nodded, but she could have done better if not for the pain that had besieged her.“I hate the smell of hospitals…” She groaned, squeezing

“What is it?” Brian asked, narrowing his gaze at the old man.Diego lifted his eyes, but he could barely utter a word.“You were right…” He stated, voice still low and slippery.“Right about what?”“About her boyfriend. He did this; he has been speaking with Brick for a while now. He was promised some money.”Brian scoffed. “I see…” He gnashed his teeth, nodding slowly.“It’s always the ones closest to us, Diego. They are the ones who betray us…”The Concierge arched his brows, contemplating those words. The urge to resist the effect was intrusive, but it seemed as though the feeling was irrevocable. He battled with it, his throat running dry until he swallowed hard.“You are right, Master Brian…” He couldn’t say more, attempting to get some relief.“Are you okay? You seem off lately…” Brian had to inquire, looking the old man in the eyes.“I am fine…” Diego lied, and he even knew that he didn’t sound believable.“I have gotten him arrested…” He figured he could be speaking out of con
