After Jasper left, the Brown family stood there for a long moment, as if trying to make sense of what had just happened. The sound of the intruders being dragged out was still echoing across the compound, but nobody moved. Their eyes kept drifting back to Tiger, who stood quietly near the wall, hands behind his back like he hadn’t just taken down a house full of trained attackers.

Mr. Brown, the head of the family, exchanged looks with his wife and then with his sons. None of them spoke at first. They only watched Tiger the way someone would watch a ticking device they didn’t understand.

Finally, Mr. Brown cleared his throat.

“Everyone… go rest,” he said. His voice was calm, but his eyes were far from it. “We’ll talk later.”

The others nodded and began to walk away, though they kept glancing at Tiger as they left. Tiger didn’t say anything. He stayed where he was, almost as if he was waiting for something.

Mr. Brown waited until the place grew quiet. Then he looked at Tiger and said,

  • It's a fact

The hotel returned to normal faster than anyone expected. It was almost strange how quickly people forgot things. Two days ago, everyone was whispering in the hallways and staring at Jasper whenever he walked by. Now they walked past him like he wasn’t even there. No questions. No tension. Nothing.Jasper didn’t mind. The quieter things were, the more space he had to think. He came downstairs in the morning and saw the staff moving around like usual. A few cleaners passed by him, greeting him casually. He nodded back. One of them even smiled. If someone walked in for the first time, they would never guess the hotel had been chaotic earlier.Sophia was at the reception desk when Jasper walked by. She lifted her head the moment she saw him.“Morning,” she said.“Morning,” Jasper replied. She looked more relaxed than before. Her hair was tied loosely, and she didn’t have that tired look she had during the last week. “The hotel has been peaceful again,” she said. “It feels strange.”“Peop

  • Be ready

Jasper sat down on the couch after Sophia left the room. She had already calmed down enough to sleep, but he knew she would wake up tomorrow with the same questions again. It wasn’t surprising. Things were already moving faster than she expected, and Jasper could see the pieces shifting exactly the way he predicted. He leaned back and picked up his phone. The house was quiet. Bai Zhe had gone upstairs earlier. Jasmine had gone to bed after pacing around the living room for almost an hour. Jasper didn’t comment on it. She had every right to be nervous, and he wasn’t the type to comfort people with long speeches. He scrolled through his contacts and tapped Tiger’s name. The phone rang only once before Tiger picked up.“Boss?” Tiger’s voice sounded tired, like he hadn’t slept properly since the infiltration.Jasper kept his tone steady. “Be ready.”Tiger paused. “Ready for what?”“Things will go wayward soon,” Jasper said. “Once it starts, you don’t stay there. You leave the Brown family

  • It's a game

Sophia kept pacing around the living room, even though Jasper had already told her to sit down. She didn’t look calm at all, and every now and then she kept glancing at Jasper as if waiting for him to say something else. Jasmine and Bai Zhe had already gone to sleep, but Sophia still looked tense.Jasper sat on the couch with his arms crossed, watching her. He didn’t say anything at first, letting her tire herself out. When she finally stopped near the window and let out a long breath, she turned to him.“Jasper… do you really know what you’re doing?” she asked quietly.Jasper raised a brow. “I already told you.”“I know,” she said, walking closer. “But everything is happening too fast. Those people followed us today. That means they already traced Jasmine here. If Jasmine’s family is being pressured this much, imagine what the Brown family will do if they confirm she’s here with us.”Jasper leaned back and stretched his legs. “That is what I want.”Sophia stared at him. “You want the

  • They're desperate

Sophia was still staring at her phone after ending the call. She didn’t move for a while. She just held the phone in her hand and looked at Jasper like she couldn’t believe what he had said. His claim had sounded bold, but the confidence in his voice had been even bolder.Bai Zhe raised a brow. “She sounded scared.”“She is,” Sophia said. “But she tried to hold it in.”Jasper leaned back in his seat. “She’ll be fine when she gets here.”“That’s not what I’m worried about,” Sophia said. “If what she said is true, then the Brown family is already searching. And if they followed her today, they might find out she’s leaving.”Jasper didn’t look concerned. “Good.”Sophia frowned. “Good?”Jasper nodded once. “I want them to find us.”Bai Zhe’s spoon froze halfway to his mouth. “Uh… you want them to come here?”“Yes,” Jasper said.Sophia blinked at him. “You didn’t mean that. Tell me you didn’t mean that.”“I meant every word,” Jasper said.“Why?” Bai Zhe asked.“They’re desperate,” Jasper s

  • Jasmine?

A month laterBai Zhe’s training that morning had gone on longer than usual. His shirt was soaked, and he was still catching his breath when he sat down with Jasper and Sophia for breakfast. It had become their routine—Bai Zhe training while Jasper supervised from the side, then the three of them eating together before the day started.Sophia passed Bai Zhe a glass of water. “You pushed harder than yesterday.”“He insisted,” Jasper said, not looking up from his plate.Bai Zhe shrugged. “I can do more.”“You always say that,” Sophia said.“I mean it,” Bai Zhe replied. “My stamina is better now.”“It’s still barely morning,” she said. “You’ll end up collapsing one day.”“He won’t,” Jasper said. “He’s stubborn enough to stay standing.”Bai Zhe nodded proudly. “Exactly.”Sophia shook her head but didn’t argue. Before she could say more, her phone began to ring. She glanced at the screen, and when she saw the name, she raised a brow at Jasper.“Jasmine,” she said.Jasper nodded once, mild

  • About to face hell

By the time Jasper and Bai Zhe made it back to the house, the sky was already dark. The street lights were on, and the whole place looked quiet. Bai Zhe stretched his neck the moment he stepped out of the car. He had been tense since they left Evelyn’s place, and now he looked even more nervous for no real reason.Jasper opened the front door and walked in first. Bai Zhe followed behind him, expecting the house to be empty. But the moment they stepped inside, they saw Sophia standing near the dining table. She had her arms crossed and looked like she had been waiting there for a while.Bai Zhe blinked when he saw her. “Sophia?”Sophia looked at him briefly but didn’t say anything. Her eyes moved straight to Jasper.“You’re finally back,” she said.Jasper walked closer. “You were waiting?”“Yes,” she replied. “You didn’t say anything before leaving.”Jasper nodded. “I had something to handle.”Sophia glanced at Bai Zhe again before returning her gaze to Jasper. “I figured. I made dinne
