Ariana took Charles around, showing him all the houses that were up for sale, including the priciest one on the list.

The moment Charles laid eyes on the place, he was hooked. It was an absolutely stunning high-rise with a breathtaking view of the river.

After an hour of looking at different houses and getting all the price details from Ariana, they headed back to the lobby to talk things over. Ariana pulled out a chair for Charles, waiting for him to make a decision.

"So, Mr. Charles, what do you think? Any house catch your eye?" she asked eagerly.

"Yes," Charles said, nodding. "I want the high-rise."

"You mean a single apartment in the high-rise, right?" Ariana asked, almost choking on her own words.

"No, I mean the whole building. Is it still up for sale?"

Ariana knew very well it was still available. But nobody had ever tried to buy the whole thing because of the outrageous price.

"Sir, it's definitely for sale, but as I mentioned, it costs ten million dollars. A single apartment goes for five hundred thousand. Maybe you’d like to reconsider?"

"Nope," Charles said firmly. "I want the whole building, and I’d like to pay for it today."

Ariana stared at him, completely dumbfounded. She had expected him to go for one of the cheapest options, not the most expensive one. If he really bought the building, she would earn a huge commission and instantly rise in rank among the agents.

But she still had trouble believing he could actually afford it. Of course, she didn't want to risk offending him and missing out on the chance to make a hundred thousand dollars in commission.

"Sir, are you absolutely sure you want to buy the entire building?" she asked again. "I need to call the manager to confirm this."

"Yes, I’m sure," Charles replied.

"Alright, give me a moment," she said, rushing off to make the call.

A few minutes later, she returned with the manager, Paul, who looked completely bewildered when he saw Charles. He clearly hadn’t expected him to be the one interested in buying the most expensive property in the area.

"Mr. Charles, I’m Paul, the manager of Gold Gate Home’s main residential area. Ariana informed me that you’re interested in purchasing our most expensive property—the high-rise in Block 2. Is that correct?"

"Yes, and I’d like to make the payment today," Charles said casually.

Paul exchanged a glance with Ariana, both of them still struggling to process what was happening. By now, everyone in the lobby had tuned in to their conversation, curious to see how things would unfold.

"And how would you like to make the payment, sir?" Paul asked cautiously.

"I’ll use my card," Charles replied.

Paul turned to Ariana. "Call the finance manager. She needs to confirm the transaction."

Ariana nodded and quickly called for the finance manager, who arrived looking just as skeptical as everyone else.

Holding their breath, the entire lobby watched as Charles handed over his card. The finance manager swiped it through the machine.

The moment the machine beeped and displayed Payment Successful gasps filled the room.

The finance manager’s jaw dropped. The entire lobby burst into shocked whispers. No one could believe what had just happened—not even Paul.

"I… I can’t believe this. Congratulations, Mr. Charles," the finance manager finally managed to say, handing his card back.

Ariana was just as stunned. After months of being mocked by her colleagues, she had just closed the biggest sale of her career. Her commission alone was enough to turn heads.

Meanwhile, the other agents who had ignored and dismissed Charles were now mentally kicking themselves. If only they had given him the same attention Ariana had! Who would have thought that the guy in simple clothes was actually loaded?

They watched in silent regret as Ariana basked in her success. She was now about to walk away with a hundred-thousand-dollar commission—all because they had judged too quickly.

"Mr. Charles, please follow me to finalize the paperwork," Paul said, trying to maintain his composure. "Ariana, you should come as well. You’ll need to be recognized as his agent so you can receive your commission."

The three of them left the lobby, while the other agents stared with envy as Ariana followed her client.

"I’m glad Ariana convinced you to buy the high-rise. It’s our most beautiful property," Paul said, beaming. He was thrilled that the property had finally been sold.

"She didn’t really have to convince me," Charles admitted. "I fell in love with the design the moment I saw it. But I do appreciate her professionalism, especially since everyone else ignored me the second I walked in." He flashed a smile at Ariana.

Paul’s smile instantly vanished. "Wait, what?" he asked, visibly irritated. "Which agents disrespected you, sir? I want their names immediately."

Before Charles could answer, Paul stormed out of his office and headed straight for the lobby. Ariana and Charles followed closely behind.

"Point them out to me," Paul demanded.

Charles calmly turned and pointed out each agent and salesman who had looked down on him earlier. The moment he did, they all turned pale with fear.

"You mean to tell me that you all treated a potential buyer with disrespect?" Paul asked, his voice dangerously calm. "You thought you could just get away with this kind of behavior?"

The guilty agents and salesmen instantly dropped to their knees, pleading.

"Please, sir, forgive us!" one of them cried. "We had no idea he could afford any of the houses!"

Paul shook his head in disappointment. "So you judge people based on how they look? Do you think every wealthy person in this city walks around flaunting their money?"

"We are deeply sorry! Please don’t fire us!"

Paul folded his arms. "Unfortunately, I can’t allow staff like you to remain in this organization. The three of you are officially fired. Leave the premises immediately, or I’ll have security escort you out."

The dismissed agents wailed and begged for another chance, but Paul’s mind was made up. Right before Charles’ eyes, security guards arrived and led them out of the building.

Charles watched in satisfaction. That was fast.

"Mr. Charles, I sincerely apologize for what happened earlier," Paul said, turning back to him. "I hope this won’t affect your view of Gold Gate Home. Your keys and all necessary documents will be handed to you shortly, and Ariana will remain in contact for any assistance you need."

"Thank you. So far, I’m happy with your service," Charles replied with a nod.

Just then, something unexpected happened.

A translucent screen suddenly popped up before Charles, flashing a message:

[Mission completed. You have received 2 black card points.]

Charles sat in silence, his face calm but his mind full of thoughts. He was clearly upset, though he tried not to show it. What troubled him most at that moment was that he couldn't simply speak up and ask about the Richard they were talking about. He badly wanted to know what that conversation was about, but he knew better than to interrupt. It just wouldn’t look good. If he tried to cut in or act like he was listening in, Mr. Jackson might take it the wrong way. It would be considered rude. It might seem like he was spying on a conversation that wasn’t meant for him, and that would create a bad impression. Not long after that, Mr. Jackson stood up from his seat and quietly walked out of the meeting room. Charles watched him leave, then slowly exhaled. He breathed out deeply like someone who had been holding something heavy inside. His expression looked distant, as if his thoughts had traveled far away. Anyone watching him closely could easily tell that something was on his mind. Ali

I noticed you were about to leave, but if you can, stay a little longer. I’d like to have a quick word with you.”“Yes, of course,” Ethan replied right away. He was relieved that the Governor didn’t seem upset. He walked a bit closer to the railing where the Governor stood, curious about what he wanted to talk about.“Good,” Lawrence said. “You seem to be a capable man. Just like your... friend here.”“My friend?” Ethan repeated, looking confused. Who did the Governor mean? Then it clicked. He realized Lawrence was talking about Sophia. Appar

Ethan was very pleased with what he had just heard. A big smile slowly formed on his face. He stood up from his seat without thinking twice and stretched out his hand for a handshake. He honestly didn’t think Charles would return the gesture, because Charles usually kept to himself. But to Ethan’s surprise, Charles reached forward and shook his hand with a firm grip. That small gesture was everything to Ethan. In that moment, Ethan became convinced that Charles had fallen completely for the story he had carefully crafted. Charles trusted him now—or so it seemed. Ethan didn’t expect things to turn around so quickly or so smoothly, but it had, and for that, he was deeply thankful.“This must be my lucky day,” he thought to himself, still smiling inside.Charles gave him a polite nod and said, “Okay, you can go now. I’ve got some other matters I need to handle.”Ethan tilted his head, pretending to be a little confused, and asked, “But I thought I was now part of your inner circle. Doesn

Charles finally snapped out of it. His heart was thudding hard in his chest like a heavy drumbeat. For a moment, everything had gone blank in his mind, like time had stopped and all his thoughts had vanished. But now, as he blinked and his focus returned, he could clearly see the car just inches away from him. It was right there—so close, it made his skin crawl.Acting fast, driven by pure instinct, he jumped back with all the strength his legs could muster. The tires of the speeding car screeched so loudly it pierced his ears. The car skidded to a stop, just in time. The smell of burnt rubber filled the air. That could have ended his life. It was far too close—closer than anything had ever come before. The driver’s door suddenly burst open, and the man behind the wheel jumped out in a panic. His face had turned a sickly pale, and his hands were trembling so hard they barely looked steady. Without wasting a single second, he ran straight toward Charles, his whole body shaking from fea

After helping Ethan earlier that evening, Charles Grey leaned back into the soft leather of his office chair and let out a long, deep sigh. His shoulders slumped slightly as the pressure from the day slowly started to leave his body. It had been an exhausting, eventful day. He felt it in his bones. What he really needed now was some rest—just some quiet time to let his mind settle. But instead of fully relaxing, his thoughts drifted straight to the conversation he had with Ethan. He thought again about Ethan’s offer and what he had said. Somehow, it didn’t feel right to him. In fact, the more he thought about it, the more it seemed like a trap. Something about it just didn’t add up. Ethan had made a big claim, but it was all too sudden, too convenient. It felt like bait.Still, Charles knew there was only one way to be sure whether Ethan was serious or just playing games. He needed proof.
