With his things packed into a little bag and a disappointed heart, Charles left the Bennett family home. Even though it was shattered and crushed, the earring his mother had left for him, a priceless heirloom was still in his pocket, and its significance to him was far greater than anyone could ever comprehend. All he had left of his mother was his link to that earring, and he was devastated and furious at Sophia's callous deeds. He was free, nevertheless. Free from their continual humiliation and criticism. With a mixture of relief and resolve, he looked to the future. Now the divorce was complete. To appease Sophia and her family, he would no longer pretend to be someone he wasn't. No more being governed by them. He now had the opportunity to succeed with the money from his fortune.

"I ought to purchase a home," Charles thought, his thoughts racing. The concept was straightforward but effective. A home of his own, free from criticism, where he could rebuild and begin afresh. He was able to accomplish the transformation he had envisioned thanks to the substantial amount of money he had been given. He tapped rapidly on his phone, looking for the city's top real estate firm. The outcome was obvious: the most notable moniker was Golden Gate Homes. Their homes were renowned for their elegance, beauty, and above all their price tags. The starting price for even the smallest of homes was $500,000. Top-tier residences were on offer, and Charles was certain that this was the place he needed to be.

Telling the driver to take him to Golden Gate Homes, he called a cab. Although he was unsure of the location, he was sure it would be just what he needed to start afresh. Although the cab ride was lengthy, his mind was kept busy by the anticipation of what was to come. Charles was astonished when they eventually showed up. It was a beautiful neighborhood. The location of Golden Gate Homes was surrounded by beautiful flora and tall skyscrapers. Every luxury car in the parking lot was more costly than the one before it, and they were all gleaming in the sunlight. He had been excluded from the world of the wealthy and powerful for a very long time.

Charles felt a rush of confidence as he exited the taxi and made his way to the showroom. The man who had previously entered the Bennett mansion had changed. He was no longer the calm, obedient spouse of a woman who didn't value him. He was a man with a purpose. Now he was wealthy. Actual cash. He entered the showroom, where five salespeople were seated and engaged in conversation. They turned away as soon as they saw him enter, acting as though they hadn't seen him. Charles became agitated after sensing the unfriendly reception. He seemed unfazed by it, though. He came to purchase a house, not to be their friend.

After several minutes, not a single agent came up to him. They continued talking as though he hadn't been there. Charles watched them all with increasing irritation as he stood there. He was increasingly restless the longer he waited. They had obviously evaluated him and determined he was not worth their time. A man with only a little bag and basic clothing, after all, couldn't possibly afford one of their opulent residences, could he?

After twenty minutes, Charles was at his breaking point. There was a reason he was here. He wasn't going to allow these individuals to disregard him based just on his appearance. Charles broke through the agents' talk to say, "I'm here to look at the properties." "Can someone help me?"

One of the agents, a tall, dark-haired man, rose slowly and approached Charles with a pleased expression. With a harsh tone, he said, "Pardon me. You're not welcome here, though. People like you have no place here."

Charles was surprised. With his tolerance ebbing, he questioned, "What do you mean, people like me?"

"I'm here to buy a home." I possess the funds.

The others took notice as the agent burst out laughing. He looked at Charles from head to toe and asked, "You? Are you even aware of the price of this area's lowest home? Half a million bucks is involved. Where do you intend to obtain such funds?"

Charles was taken aback. This was hardly the kind of treatment he had anticipated. He was aware that they might have doubts about him, but the obvious disdain caught him off guard. "I can afford it," he stated in a composed yet forceful tone. "I really want to own a house here. Give me a look at the houses."

The agent shook his head incredulously and mocked. He remarked, "I don't think you understand. The most expensive home here costs $10 million, while the lowest one costs $500,000. Would someone like you really be able to afford that?"

Charles was unfazed by the agent's remarks. He said calmly, "I want to see the most expensive house."

After a brief interval, the agent smirked and turned to face his colleagues. "Come on over here, fellas. This is unbelievable. This man is interested in purchasing the $10 million home."

As they approached, two more agents' eyes widened in shock at what they saw in Charles. With a raised eyebrow, one of them asked, "Really? This guy is going to purchase the city's most costly home?"

The other laughed and continued, "He doesn't even look like he can afford a meal, let alone a mansion."

Charles remained unflinching. Even though he had heard worse, he was unfazed by it now. With a tone of disgust in his voice, he questioned, "Is this how you treat all your potential clients?"

Once more, the first agent chuckled. He made fun of Charles by saying, "People like you don't belong here. Wealthy individuals who can afford our properties are welcome here. Before you further embarrass yourself, you ought to depart."

A voice cut Charles off as he opened his mouth to reply, though. A young woman approached him with a serious look on her face. With a forceful voice, she questioned the agent, "Why are you talking to a potential client like that?"

She smiled warmly at Charles as she turned to face him. She said, "Sir, I'm sorry for what they did. I'm Ariana, and I'd be pleased to give you a tour. What sort of house do you want to buy?"

The other agent gave an eye roll. "A possible purchaser?" he sneered. "Good luck with that."

Ignoring the remark, Ariana took a step toward Charles. "Let me show you around, please. I'm confident you'll discover something that meets your needs among our many lovely houses."

Charles was grateful for her generosity. He was thankful that Ariana had treated him with respect, even though the other agents had been disrespectful. He followed her to the houses and said, "Thank you."

Charles couldn't help but hear the agents chatting behind his back as they left. One of them said, "It's unbelievable that Ariana is squandering her time with him." "There is nothing here that he can afford."

The second agent laughed and remarked, "He's just going to make a fool of himself." "This will be enjoyable."

Ariana, however, ignored their jeers. Determined to perform her duties as best she could, she escorted Charles to the homes. Charles was filled with excitement as they got closer to the most costly home. It was this. He had the opportunity to disprove everyone.

What did you just say?" James asked, his face turning red as his hands trembled with anger. His eyes narrowed, and his jaw clenched tightly. "Charles, do you think you're some kind of big shot now?"His voice dripped with mockery, but beneath it was a hint of something else—frustration, maybe even fear.Charles remained calm, his posture relaxed as he looked James in the eye. "James, I'm not here for you," he said evenly. "I came to buy a car, and I suggest you do the same. I have more important things to do today than waste time on useless arguments."James scoffed loudly, shaking his head in disbelief. "Well, look who finally grew a backbone." His lips curled into a smirk. "Tell me, Charles, where did you get the money to buy a car? Did you steal it?"He crossed his arms and took a step closer, lowering his voice. "Stop pretending. We all know you're broke. No need to put on a fake show."James then shifted his attention to Alison, who stood beside Charles. His gaze raked over her,
