The room was still thick with disbelief. A billion-dollar necklace, handed to Sia by someone they had all dismissed as weak, ordinary, and irrelevant. Whispers had died into shocked silence, but the tension crackled like live wires.

Kane leaned against the edge of the room dark eyes scanning the faces before him. Arrogance curled at his lips. “Of course, there’s no way I could have obtained this legitimately,” he said, voice low, almost a challenge. “It must have been stolen.”

Immediately, the room erupted with agreement. “Exactly!”

"Even if had sold all his internal organs, he still would not be able to afford such!" someone shouted.

“Even after being separated from the family, he still wants to drag our name through the mud!” Lady Jin hissed angrily.

“The fool. Now I think we should have ended his life after divorcing him, he would always remain a stain to this family!” another hissed.

A broad smile slit through Kane's lips subtly. I

Sia’s hands clenched around the armrest of her chair, her face twisting with controlled fury.

"This's my business and I'm going to sort it out!" She drew her phone quickly from her pocket, shifted to the edge of the room and quickly placed a call.

“Cain!” she barked, voice sharp, every word heavy with accusation. “Explain yourself! What did you do? I mean you're always trying to impress me but stealing such a expensive necklace!" Her voice increased with each words that she spoke.

Cain’s lips curved faintly, a smirk threading through the calm in his eyes.

He could not put up with her nags and her careless accusations.

“Think whatever you want,” he said softly. His tone was cool, detached, unyielding.

Before she could respond, before another accusation could escape her lips, the line went dead. Cain had ended the call abruptly. Something he would never have done when they were married.

Sia’s shock froze her mid-breath. Fury replaced confusion. Her fingers curled into tight fists. She muttered, almost to herself, “He… he actually… ended the call.” Her gaze shifted to the necklace.

“Fine. I married him once, I have to clean his mess. I will find the rightful owners… apologize, and set this right.”

Cain strode into the entrance of the 200 Conference, the grand hall stretching before him like a cathedral of wealth. Crystal chandeliers hung from vaulted ceilings, scattering refracted light across polished marble floors. Statues of bronze and gold lined the corridors, each depicting some titan of industry or legend of power. Guests in tailored suits, gowns that shimmered like liquid diamonds, silk, turned to observe the odd figure.

Cain’s worn jacket, frayed shoes, and simple shirt drew every stare. The scent of fear for such poor looks thinking it was infectious and disdain followed him. A ripple ran through the crowd, whispers punctuating the air like bullets.

“Who’s that?” a woman hissed, eyes narrowing.

“A beggar, surely,” muttered a man, adjusting his cufflinks. “How did he even get here?”

“He must have missed his way,” another snickered, laughter dancing on the edge of mockery.

Cain’s stride remained steady. Calm. Measured. He approached the guards with deliberate precision, dark eyes meeting theirs without hesitation.

But before he could take another steps, the guards stopped him, pointing at a sign ahead that read.

"Dogs and beggars, not allowed!"

"I like dogs but I'm neither of both! I'm here for the conference!" He explained calmly.

At first there was a pause.

And then laughter erupted through the hall like a flash of lightning bolt followed by hateful comments.

The guards laughed. A low, mocking chuckle. “You? Entry? In that?” One gestured at his clothes. “You hit your head on a rock, maybe? Just escaped the asylum?”

The surrounding crowd erupted into laughter. Fingers pointed. Whispers became shouts. “Look at him! A street rat thinks he belongs here!”

Cain said nothing. His posture betrayed no shame, no fear, only confidence.

The head guard leaned forward, expression sharp, lips curling with superiority. “Even in the afterlife, you could not gain access to this place, sir.”

The guard drew forward with a cold look.

"I would advice you to return to the slums were you came from or.."

Before the guards could continue, the air shifted.

Sia stepped out of a sleek limousine, Kane Xavier at her side. Her mother, a woman whose elegance and authority could fill a ballroom alone, followed closely. Pride radiated off her in waves, her head held high as if she commanded the very air. Guests stepped aside. Murmurs turned into reverence.

The crowd bowed subtly, drew to awe to the power she radiated. But her face instantly twisted with irritation immmediately her eyes laid on Cain.

Lady Jon instantly froze. Mouth twitching. Eyes narrowing. Face twisting with disdain that her stomach knotted “What… what are you doing here?” she demanded, voice sharp as shattered glass.

The guests hushed. Kane Xavier’s gaze swept the crowd, cool and measured, before settling on Cain.

“Are you stalking my daughter?” she snapped. Her eyes burned into him. “Or have you come to beg as always."

Cain didn’t flinch. His dark gaze met hers evenly, a calm that unsettled even the proud matriarch. “Neither,” he said simply, tone flat, authoritative. “I’m for the same reason like everyone else, to join the party!" Cain responded once again, firmly.

The arena was silent, taut with anticipation. Cain and Kane stood opposite each other, the tension between them sharp enough to cut through the air. Kane’s chest swelled with arrogance, a smirk painted across his face. “So this is the infamous Cain,” he sneered. “Come to embarrass yourself in front of everyone again?” Cain’s eyes remained dark, unreadable. Calm. Almost bored. He said nothing, letting the words hang like smoke in the air. Aira watched silently, her posture impeccable, her eyes studying Cain’s every move. No words. Just attention, sharp and discerning, radiating authority. Kane advanced first. His movements were aggressive, precise, honed from years of training in underground rings and boardroom brawls. “Let’s see if the live-in son-in-law is as worthless as everyone claims!” he taunted. His voice rang with overconfidence, echoing across the polished arena. Cain shifted his weight, fluid, effortless, like water flowing around a rock. “You’ve trained hard,” he said

The room was dead silent. Every pair of eyes locked on Cain and Aira. The whispers had stopped mid-air, replaced by stunned gasps. No one had expected the heiress; the untouchable, commanding Aira Hart; to call anyone “babe.” Not him. Not Cain. Kane’s chest puffed, as if trying to hold onto the dignity that had just slipped through his fingers. “She must be mistaken,” he said, his voice sharp but uncertain. Aira’s gaze didn’t waver. Firm, piercing, and unwavering. “I’m not mistaken,” she said, letting her words slice through the tension. “ The crowd froze. The richest, most admired heiress of the city had just confirmed it. And in public, no less. Kane’s smirk faltered. His mind raced. She must have made a mistake, he repeated silently, desperately clinging to his pride. But it wasn’t a mistake. Sia’s eyes burned with jealousy. Her fingers clenched, nails digging into her palms. “Barely a day,” she spat, venom dripping from each word. “Barely a day, and he’s already… with som

The crowd’s laughter hit Cain like a physical blow. Faces twisted with malice, eyes gleaming with ridicule. “Look at him! The infamous Jon family son-in-law! A stalker! A nobody!” someone sneered, pointing a finger like a dagger. “Did he really think he belongs here?” another voice shouted, echoing across the hall. “Pathetic. Just a dog sniffing at wealth he’ll never touch!” Cain’s jaw remained tight. Eyes scanning, calm, unshaken, as the mocking continued. Mrs. Jon’s voice cut through the chaos, sharp and scalding. “You think you’re anything? My daughter would never even glance at the likes of you. A horny dog, groveling for scraps!” The words were meant to wound, to break him, yet Cain’s lips curved faintly—not with fear, but with the faintest amusement. "I'm sure he's broke and has nothing to feed on that's why he came around to beg!" Kane stepped forward. "And as a privileged person, I'm always honoured to help the poor." With that, he pulled out a few thick bundles of cas

Doctor Rhode rode down, each step echoing with what seemed like a mixture of respect and curiosity for such a young man with powerful medical skill. “It's late, how about you hop into my car for a ride? I would be more than glad to take you anywhere in the city." He motioned with a calculating voice. Cain twitched slightly. "Thank you. But I would prefer to clear my head with a walk!" Cain turned down the request politely. Rhodes’ brow arched. Surprise flickered across his features. It wasn't normal for anyone to turn down the offer from one of the most powerful medical prodigies in the country. But he didn't push further, quickly masked by his usual composure. The doctor straightened, curiosity sharpening. "Alright if you say so!" He produced a small envelope, sleek and official-looking. “But at least take this. It's a ticket to the Wor
