“Mom—!”

Charlotte froze in shoke. Sadness settled in her eyes. And her heart shattered with pain.

Little bastard daughter?!

Chloe was her daughter too! Barbara’s granddaughter! How could she say such a thing?

Logan gently squeezed Charlotte’s hand to comfort her.

He wasn’t surprised at Barbara’s harsh insulting words because he already knew she ditested his baby girl.

He didn’t even look at Barbara or Liam.

Instead, he calmly took out the divorce agreement and pulled out a lighter from his pocket.

He took a deep breath.

And with a flick of his thumb, the flame ignited.

He lit the papers calmly and determined, as if burning away all the humiliation and resentment he had endured under the Sullivan’s roof.

The divorce papers quickly turned to ash.

Along with it, the invisible chains that had held Logan down were also incinerated.

He felt free at last.

From today onwards, he would endure no more.

Barbara and Liam stared in stunned disbelief.

How dared this bastard?!

Logan ignored them and simply smiled.

That smile left Charlotte in a daze.

Since their marriage, she had never seen that kind of confidence and charm on Logan’s face.

His entire demeanor had changed—gone was the anxious, repressed look.

Now, he radiated calm control and quiet strength.

“Sorry, no more divorce papers...It’s nothing but trash now.”

Logan shrugged casually.

He looked around the room and then declared, “Oh, by the way, our precious daughter Chloe’s surgery is already taken care of.”

“So fuck off this nonsense!”

The flames consumed the papers swiftly, leaving nothing but ashes.

“As for kneeling and apologizing to you?” Logan scoffed. “Ridiculous!”

“Who the fuck do you think you are, pumpkin?”

With a flick of his wrist, he scattered the ashes—right onto Liam’s face.

Caught off guard, Liam was immediately covered in soot.

Charlotte nearly burst out laughing at the sight but stopped in time.

Liam’s face twisted in rage.

“You bastard! I’ll kill you!” Liam snarled, lunging at Logan, but Logan was faster.

With a swift move, Logan grabbed Liam by the collar and raised his hand — SMACK!

A sharp slap landed on Liam’s face, sending him staggering.

An obvious handprint bloomed, and one of his teeth flew out.

“You ... you’re dead!” Liam roared, his eyes bloodshot.

“Oh shut up, you crook!”

Logan raised his other hand — SMACK!

Another slap.

Now Liam’s other cheek was swollen as well, making him look like a garden toad.

Though not old, Liam was short and plump, and frail from years of drinking and ingulgence.

He was no match for Logan, who worked out whenever he could and did physical labor regularly.

“Sorry, but you look really good with both cheeks slapped,” Logan said with a cheeky grin.

Barbara screamed. “Logan! What have you done?!”

“You...you’ve gone too far. I swear you’ll all pay for this!” Liam staggered to his feet, red with humiliation.

This was simply too much to tolerate!

"Just you wait. You'll be on your knees, crying and begging me to take your wife!"

“And I’ll ruin you all! I’ll make sure all the Sullivan’s companies go bankrupt! You hear me?!”

Liam cast one last fierce glare at everyone present before turning around and leaving.

“Liam, wait! Let me explain!” Barbara cried, chasing after him, trying to clutch his arm.

“Explain my ass! You are finished—this isn’t over!” Liam shouted, voice cracking, as he stormed out.

Barbara paled. Hearing Liam threaten the Sullivan family and all their companies left her terrified.

Then, turning on Logan, she screamed, “You idiot! This is all your fault, you useless piece of trash! You offended Liam, and now we’ve lost the project! All the companies are going bankrupt—we’ll be homeless!”

“So what if I offended him? As for the project, I’m sure we can handle it. I won’t let Charlotte’s hard work go to waste.”

Logan adjusted his clothes, not the least bit concerned by Liam’s threats.

“You arrogant fool!” Barbara exploded.

“You dare talk big? Fine. I’ll wait and see how you ‘handle it.’ If you fail, you sign the divorce papers and fuck off immediately!”

Logan replied calmly, “Don’t worry. I won’t get the chance to sign any divorce papers. Never again!”

“You…!”

Barbara clutched her chest, gasping in anger.

Logan had never talked back to her in such blunt way.

However, today, it was as if he’d become a different man.

Not only did he talk back, he even got the gut to beat Liam up. Had he gone crazy?

Charlotte, though furious with her mother for calling her daughter a bastard, still tried to keep the peace.

“Mom, Logan might not be as successful, but he’s a good man and a great husband. We have a lovely daughter. So stop trying to push us into divorce. I won’t fall for your tricks again.”

“Oh, so now you’re siding with him?” Barbara snapped.

“Fine. But Logan had better fix this mess. Without the Rhine Corporation’s project, Elysian Bloom won’t last much longer! Your CEO position will be gone and your grandmother will kick all of us onto the street!”

Barbara stormed out, face livid.

The silk caught the morning light, almost defiant in its familiarity.Logan watched from across the room.“They’re watching for deviation,” he said quietly. “Change your routine and they’ll log it.”“So I don’t change it.”“Not yet.”Charlotte picked up her handbag. “You’re going to the office?”“Yes.”“You canceled meetings.”“I did.”She gave him a knowing look. “So you’ll be there… doing nothing.”“Publicly.”A faint smile touched her lips. “And privately?”Logan slipped his phone into his pocket. “Privately, I’ll find the pillar.”They stepped outside together. The air felt normal. Birds in the trees. Distant traffic. Stillness disguised as peace.Charlotte entered her car first. Logan leaned slightly toward her window before she closed it.“If anyone approaches you directly—”“I disengage,” she finished calmly.“And?”“And I call you.”He nodded once. She drove off at her usual time

The question hit Logan like an insult wrapped in mockery, sharp enough to sting and deliberate enough to linger. It wasn’t merely what was being offered—it was the presumption behind it, the assumption that he could be toyed with, manipulated into doubt by a voice on the other end of a line. “So,” the man repeated smoothly, his tone unhurried, savoring the moment, “would you like to speak with Charlotte? At least then you’d be certain she’s really with me.” For a split second, Logan said nothing. His silence wasn’t uncertainty—it was restraint. The kind forged through years of control, years of learning when to speak and when to wait. Then the fury came. Not loud. Not reckless. Sharp. Controlled. Far more dangerous than shouting. “You must think I’m a fool,” Logan said coldly, each word falling with precision. “Do you really believe I can be deceived so cheaply?” The man chuckled, clearly amused, as though Logan’s resistance only enhanced the game. “I believe you’re human, Logan

The drive home was quiet. Not tense—just heavy with thought.Charlotte sat beside him, her gaze forward, fingers loosely intertwined in her lap. The city lights passed over her face in shifting gold and shadow. Logan kept his eyes on the road, but his mind was nowhere near the asphalt beneath the tires. He was reconstructing everything. The call. The timing. The digital spikes. The holding company name on that tablet. It wasn’t random. It was strategic.“They wanted to measure you,” Charlotte said softly, breaking the silence.Logan didn’t look at her. “They did.”“And?”“And now I know how they measure.”She glanced at him. “You’re not going to sleep tonight, are you?”“No.”She gave a faint, knowing smile. “I didn’t think so.”When they pulled into the driveway, the house looked the same as it had hours ago. The private lounge was quieter than the main floor, separated by a paneled divider and heavy velvet curtains that muted the jazz drifting in from the bar. The lighting was lower here, more intimate, casting long shadows across polished wood and leather chairs.Logan remained standing.Charlotte sat slowly, her posture composed but no longer carefree. The man took his time lowering himself into the chair opposite them, as though he had orchestrated every second of this moment.Logan’s gaze never left him.“You said you had information,” Logan began, his voice calm but edged with steel. “Start talking.”The man folded his hands loosely in front of him. “Straight to business. I respect that.”Charlotte glanced at Logan briefly. There was tension in her eyes now—nothing like the playful tone from earlier on the phone.Logan noticed. He noticed everything.“You called me,” Logan said, “you deliberately provoked me, and you implied something about my wife that was meant to anger me. • Chapter 484

The moment Evelyn’s words settled in the air—heavy, final, and immovable—Jessica felt something inside her quietly collapse. There was no sudden outburst, no sharp cry. It was the slow, hollow sensation of something vital giving way, like a structure that had been standing for years finally realizing it had no foundation left. Alexander. Not Brandon. No matter what. The words echoed in her mind, repeating themselves with cruel persistence. For several seconds, Jessica remained where she stood, staring at her mother as though she were seeing her for the first time. The woman before her no longer looked like a parent caught between concern and control. Evelyn Marion looked resolved—coldly, unwaveringly resolved—the kind of resolve that shut out reason, dismissed evidence, and erased any possibility of compromise. Jessica swallowed hard. Her throat felt tight, her chest constricted, as though the air in the room had grown heavier. The strength that had carried her through the confro
