Chapter Eleven: Conquered Step

The pandemonium had done its magic. Everyone rushed out of the conference hall. Kate winked slightly at Vince before she joined the crowd. Within a twinkle of an eye, the fire service had shown up only to be disappointed that it was a false alarm.

After a thorough sweep through the building, they deemed it safe for the staff to return but for the meeting, thankfully, it was too late.

Jake Darius and Kate, Vince’s grandmother, had gotten into the car and vacated the premises. All of the cowardly board of directors had left too. Vince couldn’t help but laugh hysterically at the outturn of events. To say he was just starting to get to know how cunning his grandmother was, the more intriguing it was for him.

Returning to the office, he made for his desk and started working on a file when Amber returned to his office. The look on her face was familiar and Vince knew better than to give her any attention. She paced endlessly before turning to him and expressing her mind.
