Bob Knight nodded in response, “I understand.”

Nolan stared at the white-haired middle-aged man one more time before he took another sip of his tea.

“I need your help with something.” Nolan suddenly said. He set the teacup on the table and leaned back on the armrest of the chair.

“What would you like me to do for you, Young Master?” Bob enquired.

“I heard the Jones family will be hosting a party tomorrow to celebrate the sixtieth birthday of Matt Jones. I want you to prepare a gift for him.” Nolan said with an expressionless look on his face. But deep down he could feel his surging emotions. Nolan clenched his fist tightly and added in a hushed tone, “My parting gift to that family.”

“Parting gift? What do you mean by that, Young Master?” Bob asked clearly confused.

“I'll tell you about it some other time.” Nolan replied with a forced smile.

However, Bob knew that there was more to it. But since the young master didn't want to talk about it right now, Bob didn't want to pry any further.

“Alright, Young Master. I'll have someone arrange something fitting for him immediately. Should we include your name to the gifts?” Bob asked. Knowing that Nolan liked to keep things a secret, it was only natural for him to ask.

“No need. I will be present in the birthday party tomorrow, so It's better to refrain from revealing my identity as the sender. Moreover, it will draw unwanted attention to myself.” Nolan demanded, “Keep the sender's identity anonymous.”

“As you wish, Mr Wilton.” Bob responded politely. He reached for the inner pockets of his suit's jacket and retrieved three items.

“Mr Wilton, if you don't mind. I've arranged for one of the most luxurious Villa here in Aurora city for you. There's also a brand new car packed in the hotel's underground parking lot.” Bob said as he slid the villa and car keys forward across the table towards Nolan. He also examined Nolan's expression to see if he approved of it. Seeing that Nolan neither approved or disapproved, he took that as a ‘yes’.

Bob smiled slightly as he continued, “Lastly, I also arranged for a King's Master card elusive only to the Wilton family. It will allow you access to any facilities or locations around the world as a VIP guest. It also has unlimited credit, and can be used to summon the family's unique elite military team.”

Bob also pushed the King card across the table with his fingers. Nolan picked the card up and slowly examined it. It could come in handy in the future. He also picked the keys and pocketed them.

“If that's all, I have a meeting to attend to right now.” Nolan said as he stood up abruptly.

“Eh… One last thing, Mr Wilton.” Bob suddenly said.

“What is it this time?” Nolan inquired. Nolan had a hint that Bob Knight was up to something, that was why he was showering him with all those gifts to get on Nolan's good side.

“It's just that since you're in Aurora city, it is only right for us to throw a big welcoming banquet for your return, Young Master.”

“It's fine. You don't have to throw a party for my sake. That would be too much of a hassle for you. I also know that you're a very busy man, Mr Knight.” Nolan assured Bob with a smile.

“Well, Mr Wilton, it's just that… I already announced the banquet, and a lot of influential figures within Aurora city will be attending. They will be coming to properly greet you, Mr Wilton. I also invited a few celebrities and government officials too.” Bob said, leaving his words hanging in the air.

Sigh!

Nolan exhaled a loud sigh. His gazes lingering over the white-haired middle-aged man sitting across him. Nolan couldn't just reject Bob's offer, not after everything that Bob did for him today. Besides the middle-aged man had went to so much length today just to impress Nolan, it was only natural for Nolan to save him some face.

“Alright. I will be there.” Nolan nodded and asked, “Where and when is it?”

“It will be hosted at the Grand Supreme Manor the day after tomorrow.” Bob said excitedly. He couldn't believe that he actually got Nolan to attend the banquet he hosted. He was happy beyond words. However, he tried not to show it too much, afraid that he might end up ruining the young master's mood.

“I see.” Nolan smiled wryly.

Nolan picked up the teacup and took a quick sip.

‘Ah. It's cold?’ Nolan muttered to himself inwardly. He dropped the teacup and walked out of the cafe.

Nolan stopped outside the hotel, a Maybach parked in front of him. The driver stepped out of the car and strode over to Nolan's side.

“Mr Nolan?” The black suited driver called out in an inquiring tone with a polite smile plastered across his face.

“That's me.” Nolan nodded in response.

“Chairman Warren asked me to pick you up today.” The driver said more respectfully. He didn't know who this young man was, but for his employer to ask him to personally pick this man up. Then, he must certainly have a rich and powerful background. Though he's clothes were plain and simple.

The driver opened the passenger door for Nolan respectfully, and invited him in with a slight bow. Nolan climbed into the vehicle and soon… The car was set in motion.

The drive from Night Shade Hotel to Origin Tech Company was a long one, lasting for at least half an hour.

Eventually, Nolan met with Paul Warren and they started discussing about the company after exchanging a few pleasantries. Chairman Warren gave Nolan a detailed information about the company, explaining about its liabilities and possible returns. He also walked Nolan through the many facilities available within the company, as he discussed more about the company's potential growths and profits.

At last it was time for Nolan to make the decision if he wanted to invest in the company or not.

Chairman Warren held his breath and awaited Nolan's response.

On the other hand, Nolan was quite impressed by the ideas that Paul and his team had install for this company. The talk about researching on nanobots for medical purposes, as well as building reliable Ai assistants in other to make life easier, was what caught Nolan's attention more.

There were other promises that Paul Warren mentioned during their conversation. Nolan couldn't believe that there were actually gifted minds scattered all throughout the world.

Nolan took a sip of his steaming coffee.

“I must say, your company shows a lot of potential for growth and profitability. Your ideas for urban innovation is outstanding. If anything, I would like to be a part of fostering such development in our society in the future.” Nolan suddenly said with a straight face, “Mr Warren, I will like to make an investment of five hundred million dollars to your company.”

“W-what?! Fi-five hundred mil-mill-million?” Chairman Warren stuttered almost choking to his own words.

“What? Is it too small?” Nolan asked ignorantly.

“Too sm-small? No, eh… A-are you sure of what you just said?” Paul asked locking eyes with Nolan. He knew this man was not ordinary, but he didn't think that Nolan was this extraordinary.

“Yes, you heard me right, Mr Warren?” Nolan said without as much as batting an eye. He picked up the cup of steaming coffee on a glass table before him—stirred the coffee for a while and then, blew on it a bit—before taking a sip.

Chairman Warren still had a shocked expression etched over his face. He took a few deep breaths eventually calming his surging emotions.

“Excuse me for a bit, I'll have the investment agreements ready as soon as possible.” Chairman Paul Warren said with a slight bow before stepping out of the office.

Several minutes later, he returned with a few documents and handed it over to Nolan, respectfully. Nolan skimmed through the papers before proceeding to sign the documents.

“Well, I guess I should head over to the bank now and process the final payments.” Nolan said with a slight grin.

“Allow me to drive you over to the bank, young brother.” Chairman Warren said eagerly.

“Ain't you a very busy man. Don't bother yourself about me, I can just take a taxi.” Nolan replied.

“I'll clear all my appointments for today.” Chairman Warren said as he laughed dryly.

“Alright, fine by me.” Nolan shrugged as he responded, seemingly defeated.

Nolan quietly followed behind Jessica, his thoughts drifting to what she had said when they were standing by the door to her room.He couldn't believe that he hadn't moved on yet. The mention of his ex-wife ignites a burning flame inside of him, consuming him with immense rage. Nolan was reminded of all he had to go through in order to maintain his marriage with his ex-wife, Megan Jones. The constant humiliation, being treated like a servant and a doormat, taking a beating that he could've easily avoided, working his ass off to ensure that she gets the life she deserves, making calls with connections he'd long severed… and so on.And then, there was the fact that he caught her cheating on him on their anniversary day, only to realize that her relationship with her lover had gone way back before he even caught her. What had completely broken him apart was the announcement of a divorce. Just like that. While she was in the process of cheating. Without any form of remorse. The fact that

Shortly after, Nolan arrived at Jessica's place, the mansion. Just the three of us and Chief Victor.”Ever since he started working for the Lee family as Jessica Lee's personal bodyguard, Nolan came to realize that the two security guards hanging by the gates to the mansion aren't as bad as he'd thought them to be based on the first impression. In fact, they seemed to be quite talkative, looking to engage in a friendly conversation with him in order to reconcile their past differences.Of course Nolan couldn't tell if they were sincerely sorry for how they'd treated him that day or if they'd come pleading for his forgiveness driven by fea

He gave the cellphone a casual glance, however he couldn't tell who was calling him because the phone's screen was faced downwards.Nolan closed the book he was reading and gently set it aside on the same table before picking up the phone and quickly glancing at the caller's ID.It was Jessica Lee.Nolan had saved her contact on his phone as Miss Lee, so he immediately recognized who it was.A soft sigh escaped through his throat as he felt reluctant to pick her phone call. Why? His facial muscles twitched involuntarily as his sclera turned red as he stared daggers at Nolan. He despised Nolan's arrogance so much. Tell us the truth.” Someone demanded with a hoarse voice.“Lying to us is a form of disrespect, manager Hannah. And I don't take that lightly.
