Harry and Chairman Raymond were also stunned beyond comprehension. Two hundred and seventy-five thousand dollars was not a small amount, and to think that all that money was spent just for one night's meal? How is that even possible? Suddenly, they began to see Nolan in a different light. This young man sitting before them was rather calm and quiet. He'd a mysterious and domineering aura to himself.

“Hehe. Why don't we just let this matter die? There's no use prolonging this issue. Let's just go darling.” Harry said with a panicked tone.

Stacey nodded as she grabbed his arm coquettishly.

Assistant manager Grace also turned to leave as well. Since she’d unintentionally offended an important guest, it was only right for her to take her leave.

Grace's pride couldn't allow her to stoop so low to apologize to Nolan for her actions. Whenever she glance at him, his plain faded clothes, scruffy hair, and lowly demeanor gave her a sour taste in her throat. She couldn't believe that such a lowly person could actually have so much money.

‘Maybe he won a lottery?’ Grace thought to herself.

Maybe Nolan won so much money in a lottery—probably a few hundred thousand dollars or maybe, even a million.

Who cares?

The way he is lavishly spending his money, it would get exhausted in no time. Grace began to see Nolan in light of a nouvéau riche.

“And where do you think you're going?” Nolan suddenly asked.

“Huh?!” Grace was taken aback.

“You heard me. You think you can just leave after you slapped me across the face?” Nolan sneered at her as he demanded.

“Humph! How dare you? Don't even think for one second that we're afraid of you just because we're letting this matter go! This rich couple are not use to holding grudges if not you'd have been begging for forgiveness by now.” Grace lied. She couldn't say that she was beginning to feel uncomfortable around Nolan.

“Such arrogance! Because you've a little money you think that you can just trample on anyone's pride as you like? Let's go honey. We'll deal with him next time.” Stacey barked. But she was extremely careful with her words this time around. Nobody knew who Nolan really was. It would be unwise to offend him given that his identity remains a mystery. Stacey would go back home and do a background check on Nolan.

She reminded herself, inwardly.

The rich couple walked out of the cafe and left the hotel.

Meanwhile, a dozen of luxurious cars parked in front of the Night Shade Hotel. Several men dressed in black suits and black sunglasses stepped out of the luxurious cars.

One of the suited men opened the door of the most luxurious car among the convoy. A middle-aged man with white hair stepped out of the car. He was sporting a black expensive business suit.

The black suited men formed two rolls for this middle-aged man to walk in between them. The group entered the hotel drawing countless gazes towards them. There were lots of gasps and whispering from the crowd around them as they approached the cafe section of the hotel.

“OMG! Isn't that Mr Knight?” Someone suddenly said amidst the crowd gathered to see Bob Knight.

Another person added, “What's he doing here? He rarely shows up to this hotel, unless…?” A rich heir said.

“Unless what?” The rich heir's companion asked.

“Unless he's here to meet a big shot of equal status.”

“OMG!”

“My dad told me that he's the most powerful man here in Aurora. To think that there's actually someone powerful enough to call for his personal attention?”

“I thought the same. This man is simply too terrifyingly powerful.”

The crowd of businessmen and rich heirs kept chattering amongst themselves in hush whispers.

Meanwhile, inside the cafe. Grace was furious because Nolan had humiliated her saying that she was terrified of him.

“You hobo! How dare you?!” Grace flared up in fury, “I will ruin you completely, you bastard.”

She walked up to Nolan angrily as she raised her hand to give him another tight slap across the face.

“THAT'S ENOUGH!!” A hoarse voice suddenly thundered angrily, reverberating across the cafe. “HOW DARE YOU, GRACE!!”

“Huh? M-mr Knight? How are you he-” Grace was shocked beyond words when she saw Bob Knight and his men. Grace didn't know what Bob was doing there. She was simply too terrified to ponder about it. Maybe it was due to the shock, Grace's heart was sent racing. She could barely catch her breath.

Bob Knight walked towards her.

SMACK!

He didn't hesitate to give her a tight slap across her face. As if that wasn't enough, he lifted his hand up high and gave her another dirty slap.

SMACK!

Grace stumbled to the cold floor, forcibly. What just happened? Grace had no idea, however, what she knew was that her cheeks were stinging in pains. Her hair disheveled.

Grace didn't know when she burst into tears. Her eyes pouring heavily, ruining her make-up. Suddenly, Grace resembled a madwoman more than an assistant manager.

All the guests and staff members were shocked beyond words. Bob Knight had disgraced and humiliated Grace just like that all for the sake of that young man.

Who exactly is he? They instantly felt terrified realizing that Nolan wasn't as simple as they had thought earlier.

Meanwhile, Bob Knight ordered his men to take Grace out of there. Her fate was sealed.

“Take her out of here.” Bob ordered.

Two of his men stepped forward and grabbed Grace by the hand. They began to pull her away dragging her across the cold floor.

Bob Knight signalled for his men to walk everyone out of the cafe this instance. They followed his order and soon the cafe was dead silent, leaving only Bob and Nolan present.

“Mr Wilton.” Bob said as he fell on one knee and bowed before Nolan, respectful. “I am deeply sorry about that misunderstanding. I promise to take care of it and punish her severely.”

Nolan only nodded slightly while maintaining an expressionless look.

A few moments later, a parade of chefs and waiters stepped into the cafe with exquisite cuisine in hand. They headed for Nolan's table and bowed respectfully before they each started introducing their various dishes in an organized manner, and setting each dish on the table before Nolan. They bowed again and then left in an orderly fashion.

Nolan would lie if he said that he wasn't impressed. He stared at the rolls of exquisite dishes before him and gulped. Bob Knight poured tea for him as Nolan gradually started devouring the food. All those drama from earlier had left him deeply hungry.

Struggling to maintain a reserved composure, Nolan only ate a bit before he pick up his tea and took a sip.

“Does this mean that you're fully back, boss?” Bob enquired. He was so excited to see Nolan again. Last he heard was that Nolan had decided to hide his identity and live a low profile life. It was after one year that he heard from a few of his informants that Nolan was getting married, however, Nolan had threatened to destroy anyone that showed up to his wedding. His threat had scared the many big shots under him, so they refrained from angering Nolan. He’d heard that Nolan had been using his sources within Aurora city to elevate his wife's career, secretly.

Bob Knight had deep respect for Nolan all those years of secretly spying on him.

“I don't know yet. But I still want to maintain a low profile. You know who's going to show up when they find out that I am back.” Nolan said as he took another sip. The tea, soothing and refreshing to the taste.

Nolan immediately feigned a cough, increasing his pace so that she wouldn't be able to look into his eyes. He might end up with a nervous breakdown if he maintained eye contact with Jessica. This stirred up a teasing giggle from Jessica as she silently watched his back.A look of satisfaction etched on her face.He had always been the only one getting on her nerves, seeing him reacting uncomfortably right now made her grin in satisfaction. She realized that although she'd been with Nolan for more than a week now, as her personal bodyguard of course, she hadn't really seen this side of him. Nolan quietly followed behind Jessica, his thoughts drifting to what she had said when they were standing by the door to her room.He couldn't believe that he hadn't moved on yet. The mention of his ex-wife ignites a burning flame inside of him, consuming him with immense rage. Nolan was reminded of all he had to go through in order to maintain his marriage with his ex-wife, Megan Jones. The constant humiliation, being treated like a servant and a doormat, taking a beating that he could've easily avoided, working his ass off to ensure that she gets the life she deserves, making calls with connections he'd long severed… and so on.And then, there was the fact that he caught her cheating on him on their anniversary day, only to realize that her relationship with her lover had gone way back before he even caught her. What had completely broken him apart was the announcement of a divorce. Just like that. While she was in the process of cheating. Without any form of remorse. The fact that

Shortly after, Nolan arrived at Jessica's place, the mansion. The security guards did not need to stop or question him anymore, they simply let him through while sparing a few short nods, of which Nolan reciprocated.“How are you doing, Nolan?” One of the security guards inquired with an awkward smile plastered on his face. The other security guard suddenly asked amidst slight giggles, “Want to eat lunch later? Just the three of us and Chief Victor.”Ever since he started working for the Lee family as Jessica Lee's personal bodyguard, Nolan came to realize that the two security guards hanging by the gates to the mansion aren't as bad as he'd thought them to be based on the first impression. In fact, they seemed to be quite talkative, looking to engage in a friendly conversation with him in order to reconcile their past differences.Of course Nolan couldn't tell if they were sincerely sorry for how they'd treated him that day or if they'd come pleading for his forgiveness driven by fea

He gave the cellphone a casual glance, however he couldn't tell who was calling him because the phone's screen was faced downwards.Nolan closed the book he was reading and gently set it aside on the same table before picking up the phone and quickly glancing at the caller's ID.It was Jessica Lee.Nolan had saved her contact on his phone as Miss Lee, so he immediately recognized who it was.A soft sigh escaped through his throat as he felt reluctant to pick her phone call. Why? It was because, for the past four to five days, Nolan had busied himself intensely to the point that he was starting to feel a bit stressed and tired.

What are you doing sitting on Mr Nolan's seat?” One of the guests shouted angrily as he glared at Nolan coldly.Nolan simply returned his glare with a slight amusing smile of nonchalancy.SLAM!“How dare you? Get your ass out of that chair right now.” The man thundered furiously, he slammed his hand on the table and strung to his feet clenching his fist tightly. His facial muscles twitched involuntarily as his sclera turned red as he stared daggers at Nolan. He despised Nolan's arrogance so much. Somehow, Tommy James had hoped that it was true and that his nephew, Nathan, was secretly the owner of Fraser Company. However, he knew that it was all wishful thinking.“It doesn't make any sense at all. Did Mr Nolan inform you that he's no longer coming to the investor dinner tonight? Tell us the truth.” Someone demanded with a hoarse voice.“Lying to us is a form of disrespect, manager Hannah. And I don't take that lightly. I understand that you're new to this whole thing and you're not familiar with handling the job of a manager because it's too much of a burden to you. I completely understand.” Mark, Nolan's former senior at his workplace suddenly said, drawing everyone's attention to him.He was occupying a seat at the far end of the rectangular intricate table, a stern look etched on his face with cold eyes that glared at manager Hannah with piercing eyes.
