The Unwanted Husband Strikes Back

2. It's Time to Divorce!

Tonight, Danny came home later than usual. He did everything on purpose because, for Danny, today was his last day to set foot in the Huxley family home.

"Danny, where have you been? Coming home at this hour. "Don't you see that we're all starving and waiting for you? "Have you forgotten your obligations in this house?" Michelle Huxley, his mother-in-law, immediately greeted his return, both eyes bulging.

Danny glanced at the heavily made-up woman, then stepped inside to find Laura. He had always been respectful and obedient to his mother-in-law. He didn't even care about all the cursing and beatings the Huxley family gave him.

But not this time. This was the first time he had ignored his mother-in-law. In fact, Danny seemed to think she didn't even exist.

"Danny, don't you hear me talking to you? "Are you deaf?" Michelle shouted so loudly that Laura came down the stairs and saw them.

Danny only glanced at Laura, who hadn't bothered to wear her clothes this time. She was still wearing a business suit covered by a long blazer. "What's going on?" Laura asked.

"Just ask your stupid husband! "He's made me furious!" Michelle exclaimed as she folded her arms across her chest and glanced sarcastically at Danny.

Laura grunted again, this time going straight to her husband. "Danny, what did you do to make Mom this angry? Why do you never stop causing chaos in my life?"

"That's right. Your husband needs to be taught some manners. "This is how, if you pick up something from the street, the stench will never go away!" Michelle quipped. Danny, who heard, just clenched his fists. There was no point in getting angry; now, it was too early to show who he really was.

'Forget it, Danny, don't fall for what your in-laws say. 'Remember what you came here for!' Danny tried to remind himself.

"He's a son-in-law living in the in-laws' house. If I ask him to cook dinner, it's not too much, right?" Michelle complained.

Laura tapped her forehead, then shook her head and snorted in annoyance. "Danny! You embarrassed me before Tom Harold and made the Huxley family company project a near failure. Now you're coming home late and not making dinner for all of us. Do you want to starve my mom to death?"

Danny only responded with a faint smile. Then he stepped closer to Laura, his gray eyes fixed on the blonde woman before him.

"Miss Huxley, you seem to have misunderstood. I didn't come here to make your mother dinner or the rest of the Huxley family. "I'm here to collect my personal belongings and file for divorce," Danny said calmly.

Laura's blue eyes were shocked, just as her mother listened. Michelle even rubbed her ears to make sure she hadn't heard wrong.

"Danny? You want to divorce me? "Are you out of your mind?" Laura asked.

"I'm serious. "I want us to get a divorce." Danny took Laura's words in stride.

Although Laura didn't like Danny and the marriage was forced, hearing Danny's request to divorce her bothered her. Laura considered Danny's request an insult.

Like Michelle, her pride was tarnished when she heard Danny wanted to divorce Laura. Danny, who has no privileges, doesn't deserve to divorce his daughter, who has the beauty of a Goddess.

Even if they had to divorce, Laura should sue Danny for divorce. Michelle couldn't imagine the rumors circulating if she knew Laura had been left behind.

"Divorce? A loser like you dares to divorce my daughter? Have you forgotten who Laura is? She's the jewel of Northern Coastal City? Many single men are lining up to date with her. You're a man with no ability to get a chance to marry my daughter, but instead squandered it. "What qualifications make you worthy of divorcing my daughter?" Michelle raged.

Danny just smiled at Michele. "I am serious about my decision. This marriage is no longer worth keeping. Isn't that right, Ms. Huxley?"

Danny stared at Laura without blinking, which succeeded in making his wife look away because she found Danny's gaze intimidating. But not Michelle. This woman did not notice the change in Laura's face and regarded Danny insolently.

"You're ungrateful. How dare you divorce my daughter? Have you forgotten that you live in a luxurious house and eat good food? If you were out there, you'd be sleeping on the streets and waiting for the mercy of others to eat!" Michelle added.

"Mrs. Huxley, I don't need any of that." Danny then turned to Laura and smiled at her. "Laura, I'll expect you at the registry office tomorrow at ten to finalize our divorce. After that, you can go with any man you like!"

Danny didn't wait for the angelic-looking woman to answer. Instead, he went to his bedroom to pack his things.

"I'm not coming! Tomorrow is Grandma's 70th birthday. It's a special day for everyone in the family. "You had better forget about divorcing me because you'll lose a lot if you leave the Huxley family!" Laura shouted.

But Danny didn't care. He continued to pack his things and walked out of his room. "I'm not coming to Grandma's birthday party. I'm still going to the registry office and registering for our divorce!"

Michelle glared back at her son-in-law. "How dare you? How dare you divorce my son and refuse to come to Grandma's birthday? Are you tired of living?"

"I don't need your opinion. "I'll be going; good night!" Danny said as he carried his worn-out backpack that he had brought when he first entered the Huxley home. Everything he had earned while living in this house, including his salary as a food delivery driver, was left in his bedroom. He gave all of them to the Huxley family to pay back his living expenses here, including interest.

"Huh! Just get out of here! You have to remember, if you run into trouble out there, the Huxley family won't help you! You chose to leave this house, and don't expect us to take you in again, even if you beg to death!" Michelle shouted, followed by Laura's nod.
