3. Playing Victim

This afternoon, the entire Huxley family gathered in the ballroom of the Majestic Hotel, a five-star hotel in the center of the Northern Coastal city. Only the bourgeoisie could afford to rent the ballroom.

This time, Mrs. Victoria Huxley, the number one woman in the Huxley family, was celebrating her 70th birthday there. "Aunt Michelle, what's the problem with Danny not coming to Grandma's birthday party? Look at my boyfriend, Evan Anderson. He's a young entrepreneur, and his company is growing fast despite the growing export demand. "But for Grandma's sake, he will leave his job." Susan shook out her blonde hair and glanced at Laura with a condescending look.

Susan was not as beautiful as Laura, but had a more seductive body shape. The girl had always taken care of her appearance and diet because of her profession as a local model. She was also two years younger than Laura, so it was no wonder she had so many male fans. Coupled with her flirting skills, she could quickly get the man she wanted.

"You praise me too much, dear. Your grandmother is my grandmother too; she's my parent, and I should respect her," Evan said modestly.

"Ha ha, my future brother-in-law is great and always cares about the Huxley family, unlike that poor man with no self-respect," Matthew added.

Grandma nodded, "That's right. Susan is lucky to have a partner like Evan. Even though he's successful at a young age, he can still respect his elders. "It's true, Mom. Danny cheats on his wife and tarnishes our family name. Also, when he married Laura, his behavior was evil and rude. As a mother, I couldn't let this happen to my daughter. He is confident that he wants to divorce Laura because another woman is out there. "What a shame!" Michelle complained in Laura's defense.
