Lirien's eyes sparkled with an otherworldly intensity as she approached Eryndor. "The Voice is a powerful force, one that requires great control and discipline to wield," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Eryndor's mind reeled as he tried to process the revelation. "What do you mean?" he asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.

Lirien smiled, her lips curling upward. "The Voice is an ancient power, one that has been hidden for centuries. But I sense that you have the potential to unlock it."

As she spoke, Lirien led Eryndor deeper into the ruins, the air thick with the scent of old stone and dust. Eryndor felt a strange energy building inside him, as if the ruins themselves were awakening a power within him.

"What do I need to do?" Eryndor asked, his determination growing.

Lirien's eyes gleamed with a fierce light. "You must learn to harness the elements. Earth, air, water, fire – each one holds a key to unlocking the voice."

Eryndor nodded, his mind racing with the possibilities. He was ready to learn, to unlock the secrets of the Voice and defeat Malakar once and for all.

As they reached a large stone chamber, Lirien raised her hands, and the air seemed to shimmer with energy. "Let us begin," she said, her voice filled with anticipation.

Lirien raised her hands, and the air in the chamber began to vibrate with an otherworldly energy. Eryndor felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end as she started to chant in a language he didn't understand. The words seemed to echo off the stone walls, growing louder and more intense with each passing moment.

As Lirien's chanting reached a crescendo, the elements began to stir. A gentle breeze rustled Eryndor's hair, and the stones beneath his feet seemed to hum with ancient power. Water droplets began to form on the walls, glistening in the dim light, and a small flame flickered to life in the centre of the room.

Eryndor's eyes widened as he felt the elements responding to Lirien's call. He could sense the power coursing through the air, and he knew that he was on the verge of something momentous.

Lirien's eyes locked onto his, and she nodded. "Now it's your turn," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Reach out with your mind and connect with the elements. Feel their power, and learn to control it."

Eryndor took a deep breath, focusing his thoughts. He felt a surge of energy as he reached out to the elements, and to his amazement, he began to sense their presence. The earth beneath his feet, the air in his lungs, the water on the walls, and the flame in the center of the room – all of it seemed to be alive, responding to his touch.

As he experimented with the elements, Eryndor felt a sense of exhilaration and wonder. He was beginning to understand the true nature of the Voice, and he knew that he was one step closer to defeating Malakar.

But just as Eryndor was starting to get the hang of controlling the elements, a loud rumbling sound echoed through the ruins, causing the ground to shake beneath their feet.

"What's happening?" Eryndor asked, his eyes snapping to Lirien's.

Lirien's expression turned grave. "Malakar," she whispered. "He's found us."

Lirien's words were barely out of her mouth when the sound of shattering stone echoed through the chamber. Malakar stood in the entrance, his eyes blazing with fury.

"You fools," he spat, his voice dripping with venom. "You think you can hide from me? I will crush you both and claim the voice for myself."

Eryndor stepped forward, his hands crackling with energy. "You won't take us without a fight," he declared, summoning a blast of air to send Malakar stumbling back.

But Malakar was far from defeated. With a wave of his hand, he summoned a torrent of dark energy that sent Eryndor flying across the room. Lirien rushed to his side, helping him to his feet.

"We need to get out of here," she whispered urgently. "This place is too exposed."

Eryndor nodded, and together, they made a break for the door. But Malakar was relentless, pursuing them with a ferocity that seemed almost supernatural.

As they ran, Eryndor felt the voice growing stronger within him. He could sense the elements responding to his call, and he knew that he was getting closer to unlocking its true potential.

But Malakar was gaining on them, and Eryndor knew that they couldn't keep running forever. They needed a plan and fast.

Suddenly, Lirien grabbed his arm, pulling him through a hidden doorway. "In here," she whispered, slamming the door shut behind them.

Eryndor found himself in a narrow, winding tunnel. The air was musty and damp, and the only light came from a faint glow emanating from the walls.

"What is this place?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Lirien's eyes gleamed in the dim light. "A secret passage," she replied. "It will take us to a place where we can be safe...for a little while, at least."

As they made their way through the winding tunnel, Eryndor couldn't shake the feeling that they were being herded towards some unknown fate. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and mould, and the flickering torches cast eerie shadows on the walls.

Lirien seemed to sense his unease, and she placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Eryndor," she said softly. "We'll be safe soon. Just a little farther."

Eryndor nodded, though he wasn't entirely convinced. He could still feel Malakar's dark energy lingering in the air, like a shadow waiting to pounce.

As they turned a corner, a faint light appeared in the distance. The tunnel began to slope upward, and Eryndor could hear the sound of rushing water growing louder.

Suddenly, they emerged into a vast underground cavern, the ceiling lost in darkness. A crystal-clear river flowed through the centre of the cavern, its source and destination unknown. The air was filled with a soft, ethereal glow, and Eryndor felt a sense of peace wash over him.

Lirien smiled, her eyes shining with a knowing light. "Welcome to the Sanctuary," she said. "Here, you'll be safe from Malakar's reach."

Eryndor's gaze wandered, taking in the breathtaking beauty of the cavern. He could feel the voice stirring within him, responding to the ancient power that lingered in this place.

But as he turned to Lirien, he saw a look of concern etched on her face. "What is it?" he asked, his instincts on high alert.

Lirien's eyes locked onto his, her voice barely above a whisper. "Malakar's power is growing stronger. We need to teach you how to harness the voice and fast. Before it's too late."

Lirien's words hung in the air like a challenge. Eryndor felt a surge of determination course through his veins. He was ready to learn, to unlock the secrets of the Voice and face whatever lay ahead.

"Teach me," he said, his voice firm and resolute.

Lirien nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Very well. Let's begin."

She led him to the river's edge, where the water flowed smoothly over rounded stones. "The Voice is connected to the elements," she explained. "To harness its power, you need to understand the balance between earth, air, water, and fire."

As she spoke, Lirien raised her hands, and the elements responded. The earth trembled beneath their feet, the air rustled with a gentle breeze, the water rippled with tiny waves, and a small flame danced on her fingertips.

Eryndor watched, mesmerized, as Lirien demonstrated the power of the Voice. He felt a sense of wonder and awe, and he knew that he was on the threshold of something incredible.

"Now it's your turn," Lirien said, her eyes sparkling with encouragement. "Try to connect with the elements. Feel their power, and learn to control it."

Eryndor took a deep breath, focusing his thoughts. He reached out with his mind, feeling the elements respond to his touch. The earth beneath his feet seemed to hum with energy, the air whispered secrets in his ear, the water flowed smoothly over his skin, and a small spark of fire ignited on his fingertips.

As he experimented with the elements, Eryndor felt a sense of exhilaration and wonder. He was beginning to understand the true nature of the Voice, and he knew that he was one step closer to defeating Malakar.

But just as he was starting to get the hang of it, Eryndor felt a sudden jolt of energy. The elements seemed to surge out of control, and he stumbled backwards, losing his balance.

Lirien rushed to his side, her eyes filled with concern. "Eryndor, are you okay?"

Eryndor nodded, still trying to catch his breath. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just a little overwhelmed."

Lirien smiled, her expression reassuring. "It's normal. The Voice is powerful, and it takes time to master. Let's try again."

The morning came soft and uncertain. Mist coiled low across the plains, wrapping the reborn world in a hush too delicate to break. Even Zephyr was quiet. They reached a ridge overlooking a shallow lake. Its surface was smooth as glass, reflecting the aurora that had never quite faded. The light bent in strange ways — curved, braided — as though the sky itself was learning how to breathe again.Eryndor stood at the edge and let the wind move through him. It carried no words this time, only tones — low, steady, almost peaceful.Aria joined him. Her expression held both fatigue and wonder. “It’s calmer today.”“For now,” he said. “The echoes are listening.”“To us?”“To everything.”He knelt, touched the water’s surface. • Echoes Beneath the Light

Chapter 99 – “Echoes Beneath the Light”The night over Elyria was not dark — it glowed faintly, as though the stars themselves had sunk into the soil.Eryndor walked ahead of the others, the wind whispering through the newly grown plains. The land stretched endlessly — green where it had once been shattered crystal, alive where silence had reigned. But in that life, something pulsed — an undertone that didn’t belong. The Song was still playing, just quieter. Waiting.Aria caught up beside him, her hair brushed by the wind. “You haven’t said anything since the Well.”“I’m listening,” he murmured.“To what?”“To the world,” Eryndor said. “It’s speaking again… but not in words I recognise.”Behind them, Zephyr kicked a loose stone that dissolved into motes of light before hitting the ground. “Creepy. Even rocks don’t want to stay solid anymore.”Lyra laughed softly — a short, tired sound. “Elyria’s trying to remember how to be alive.”Lirien frowned, glancing at the readings on her harmo

  • The Voice that Remained

Silence. Then breathe.Eryndor opened his eyes to a world both familiar and foreign. The sky above him shimmered with shifting hues — dawn and dusk mingling in the same breath, as if the heavens hadn’t yet decided which to be. Beneath him, the ground pulsed faintly with living resonance, each heartbeat of the earth answering his own.He sat up slowly, the last threads of light fading from his skin. His body was real again — but lighter, as though part of him still lingered somewhere beyond the veil. Around him stretched a vast plain of crystal grass, singing softly in the wind. The Rift was gone. No fracture, no void — only stillness. For the first time in what felt like eternity, the world was quiet. Then came a whisper.“You woke.”Eryndor turned. Aria stood a few paces away, her hair stirring in the gentle wind. She looked… different. There was a glow about her now — faint green light tracing along her veins, like roots of living light beneath her skin. Nature itself seemed to brea

  • Song of Return

The air vibrated with a tension that pressed against their bones. The harmonic compass in Lirien’s hands pulsed rapidly, its light trembling like a heartbeat about to burst. The Rift’s edge shimmered above the Crown of Glass, a coiling spiral of sound and light that stretched impossibly into the sky. Aria stepped forward, hand extended, as the golden threads of the Song reached for her. Each pulse resonated through her chest, mingling with Eryndor’s essence tethered somewhere beyond. She could feel him — faint, fractured, but unmistakably there. “Aria,” he whispered, carried not through sound but through the Song itself. You’re close. Hold steady. She inhaled, centring herself in the chaos. Around her, the others formed a protective circle, each contributing to the resonance field. Lyra’s blades reflected shards of the Rift’s light, Lirien’s compass sang with delicate precision, Thorne grounded himself against the floating crystal shards, and Zephyr’s staff bent pulses of resonanc

For a long time, there was only light. Then — breath.Aria’s eyes fluttered open to a pale, endless sky. The air was warm, fragrant with wildflowers. She lay on soft grass, the world quiet except for the gentle whisper of wind through unseen trees. For a heartbeat, she thought she was home — until she realised there was no horizon. The world simply faded into light. She sat up slowly, body trembling. Her armour was gone, replaced by simple linen — weightless, like the air itself. Memories came back in shards: the Rift, Eryndor, the merging of their essence. And then —“Aria.”The voice came from behind her — calm, rich, unmistakable. She turned.Eryndor stood a few paces away, robes mended and bright, the same as he’d worn in his final battle long ago. But his eyes shimmered with quiet clarity, like sunlight reflected on still water.“You’re here,” she breathed. He smiled faintly. “I wasn’t sure if you would be.”Aria stood, unsteady. “What is this place?”He looked around the endless

The shards of crystal glimmered like a field of stars, reflecting every flicker of the newly restored harmonics. The air itself hummed with the subtle pulse of the Song, steady now, balanced.Aria stepped out of the Rift’s heart, her boots touching solid ground again. Around her, the companions watched in awe, each taking in the miraculous calm that had descended over the fractured mountains.“Is it… really over?” Lyra whispered, her voice trembling with relief.Aria nodded slowly. “For now. The Fifth Harmonic holds. And… he’s back.” She glanced at Eryndor, who walked beside her, his hand brushing lightly against hers. Though part of him remained tethered to the Rift, the essence that had been lost for so long now pulsed in step with hers.
