Kylie remained calm as they were coming closer.

All the men covered their faces with masks, they were all holding weapons. They looked ready to attack at any moment.

Kylie stepped forward, her face tight with anger.“How dare you block my way?”

The tattooed man smirked. “Miss Kone… this city, and even your city… you think all your bodyguards can save you?”

Even though he had a point, Kylie didn’t move back. She took another step, her fists tight. “If that is what you think… you are wrong. Very wrong!”

She searched for her phone in her bag.

“Haha! Don’t tell me… you want to call? Have you forgotten how long it take for them to reach the Garden?”

Kylie’s teeth clenched. Her eyes were red with anger. “What exactly you want?” she asked, her voice sharp.

“My boss… he wants few minutes to talk with you. Just come with us, follow to the car,” the man said calmly, pointing at a black SUV at the corner.

Kylie’s lips curved into a dry smile. “Your boss must be really brave. Who the hell he think he is, to order me around? Tell him… he comes to me on knees, crawling!”

The thugs blinked in surprise. Then all of them laughed loudly. The tattooed man raised his hand. “We will soon see… who will end up crawling!” he said, smirking.

“I was planning to bring a gorgeous lady like you into the car with honor, but you rejected. Don’t blame me if I am not polite now,” he added, his voice cold.

He turned to his men. “Boys! Grab her! Bring her to the car!”

Kylie was about to shout when suddenly a black Mercedes Benz door opened. Mathew stepped out, his face calm but serious. “Touch Miss Kone… and you are dead,” he said, voice low but strong.

The tattooed man laughed loudly, like it didn’t scare him. “Hah! Who’s this kid? Do you know what I do to anyone disturb me at work? I bury them alive!” His laughter was wicked.

The tattooed man looked at Mathew for a moment. His eyes were full of anger but also little confusion. Then he turned to his men and simply flicked his fingers.

“Teach him a lesson,” he said.

Two of the thugs stepped forward immediately.

Kylie suddenly shouted, “No! Don’t touch Mr. Mathew!”

But she stopped speaking halfway.

Her eyes became wide.

Because Mathew had already moved.

She didn’t know when he started moving

.

The first thug lifted his baseball bat and tried to swing it.

But Mathew moved his head slightly and the bat missed him.

Then Mathew punched him.

Just one punch.

The sound was loud.

The thug fell backwards like someone pushed him hard. His nose was bleeding already.

Another man rushed from the side holding a knife.

He tried to stab Mathew’s shoulder.

Mathew grabbed his wrist very quickly.

The man’s hand twisted.

A cracking sound came out.

“Ahhh!!”

Another thugs tried to hit Mathew on the back with a crowbar, Mathew suddenly turned.

He hit the man’s shoulder with his elbow.

The crowbar dropped and the thug shouted in pain.

Two other men rushed together. One tried to grab Mathew while the other tried to punch him.

But Mathew moved very fast. He kicked one man’s knee.

The man fell down instantly.

Before the other could react, Mathew punched his stomach. The man bent forward gasping.

Kylie was just standing there watching.

She thought Mathew was just a calm doctor.

But right now he looked very different.

Another thug tried to attack him with an iron rod.

Mathew grabbed the rod and twisted the man’s wrist.

The man cried as the rod fell down.

After that nobody was standing anymore.

The road was full of men on the ground.

Some holding their arms.

Some holding their legs.

All of them shouting in pain.

It had not even been long. Maybe half a minute only.

Kylie was stunned. 'this man is something else.

Who would think someone this calm can fight like this? This man is really a rare gem.'

Mathew was walking toward the tattooed man.

“Who sent you?” he asked.

The tattooed man peed into his pant already.

He looked at his men lying on the ground.

Fear filled his head.

He slowly stepped backward and ran.

He jumped inside the SUV quickly and started the engine and drove away very fast.

Mathew looked at the road where the car left.

“What a coward,” he said quietly.

Mathew grabbed one of the thug on the ground and lifted him up with one hand.

The thug was crying now.

His broken arm still hanging badly.

“P-please… don’t hurt me anymore…”

Mathew looked at him calmly.

“Tell me who sent you,” he said.

“So they can feel the same pain too.”

The thug swallowed hard.

“We… we don’t know him,” the thug said quickly. His voice was shaking very much. “We also don’t know who is behind it. The man only give us money to help do the plan. That is all.”

Mathew looked at him for a while. He didn’t talk. He only stared at the man’s eyes like he was trying to see if the guy was lying or not.

The thug became even more scared when Mathew kept looking at him like that.

After some seconds, Mathew finally let go of his shirt.

The man almost fell when his feet touched the ground again.

Mathew felt the guy was probably telling the truth. The fear in his voice looked real enough.

Once Mathew released him, the thug didn’t stay another second. He quickly helped the others to stand up and all of them started running away like mad dogs.

Some of them were limping badly. One was holding his broken arm and crying while running. Another one could barely walk but still forced himself to escape.

In just few seconds they were gone.

The road became quiet again.

Just then the secretary hurriedly opened the car door and rushed out.

“Miss Kone! Miss Kone!” she said in panic. “I already called for backup! They should be coming soon!”

But Kylie slowly shook her head.

“It’s not necessary anymore,” she said.

Then she looked toward Mathew again.

“Mr. Mathew already saved us.”

She didn’t even notice she kept staring at him.

What happened earlier was still playing in her head again and again. The way he moved, the way he handled those thugs like it was nothing.

This man looked so calm and gentle normally. But when trouble came, he turned into something else.

It made her heart feel strange somehow.

Mathew meanwhile walked to the road and started moving the planks and those old tires away. He pushed them aside one by one until the road became clear again.

After that they all went back inside the car.

The car slowly started moving again.

For a little while nobody talked.

Then Kylie opened her handbag and took out a sleek black card. The edge of the card had golden yellow color and it looked very expensive.

She stretched her hand toward Mathew.

“Mr. Mathew,” she said, “we only met today but you already helped me many times. I really owe you much. Please accept this… just a small appreciation.”

In the front seat, the secretary saw the card from the mirror.

Her eyebrows immediately frowned.

She knew that card very well.

That card was not normal at all. It had millions of dollars inside.

She couldn’t understand why Kylie would give such thing to someone they just met today.

But Mathew only looked at the card for a moment.

Then he smiled a little and pushed it back gently.

“I appreciate your kindness, Miss Kone,” he said. “But I don’t need money.”

Both ladies were shocked.

The secretary almost laughed from disbelief.

A man wearing simple clothes like him saying he doesn’t need financial help?

That really sounded ridiculous.

Kylie herself blinked twice.

“Mr. Mathew,” she said slowly, “this is not related to our agreement earlier. It is only my way of saying thank you. Please take it.”

Mathew chuckled softly.

If she only knew how much wealth he really had, she probably wouldn’t even bother giving him this card.

Compared to what he owns, the money inside that card was really nothing.

But of course he didn’t say that.

“Like I said,” Mathew replied calmly, “I appreciate it. But my answer is still same.”

Kylie leaned back in her seat, looking quite surprised.

She had never seen someone refuse her money before.

She looked at Mathew for a moment, thinking about something.

Then slowly a playful smile appeared on her face.

She leaned a little closer toward him.

“Mr. Mathew…” she said in a teasing voice.

“If you don’t want money… then maybe I can repay you another way.”

She paused for a second, then smiled even more.

“How about… I repay you with my body?”
