The wolves were already on them.

A pack of them rushes through the trees, their claws tearing into the ground as they surround the group. Their growls echo through the forest, and Adrian instinctively takes a step back, his eyes darting from one wolf to another as they close in.

“Stay behind me.”

Darius steps forward, his hand tightening around the hilt of his sword. Before Adrian can even blink, he disappears, and four wolves collapse almost at the same time. Adrian barely sees what happens. One moment, Darius is standing beside him, and the next, he is already several meters away, his sword dripping with blood.

This is Darius, an S-Rank combatant and the strongest person on their team, probably one of the strongest students in the entire academy Adrian thought. His speed is so ridiculous that sometimes Adrian wonders if his eyes are even capable of following him, and somehow, despite being an E-Rank healer, Darius is the one who asks him to join his team. Adrian still doesn't understand why.

“Try not to get in the way, healer.”

Marcus's voice pulls Adrian's attention away as he raises his bow and releases an arrow. It flies straight through a wolf's skull, and when another wolf charges from the side, Marcus doesn't even turn completely toward it. He simply draws another arrow, releases it, and drops the beast before it reaches him.

Adrian can't deny it. Marcus is strong. He is an A-Rank combatant, and he knows monsters better than almost anyone Adrian has met, he is able to recognize their movements, predict their attacks, and find their weak points with frightening accuracy. The problem is that he never misses an opportunity to remind Adrian that he's the weakest person here.

“Not bad,” Adrian mutters.

Marcus glances at him. “What did you say?”

“Nothing.”

A sudden crack of thunder shakes the forest, and lightning tears through the air. Three wolves are blasted away before they can even reach them, and Adrian turns toward the source to see Lena standing there with electricity dancing around her body.

She's his girlfriend.

An A-Rank combatant with Lightning Manipulation.

Even before the Awakening Ceremony, Lena genuinely loves Adrian. He knows that because she stays beside him when everyone else looks down on him. There are always rumors that she's only with him because he's handsome, but he never believes them. Why would he? She’s Lena, the one who says, "Don't Give Up," who reminds him that his ability doesn’t define him.

At least, that's what he believes.

Another growl comes from the darkness, and Adrian turns toward Selene. She's standing slightly behind the others, her eyes fixed on the forest. Selene is a B-Rank mage who can summon beasts and use elemental magic, making her one of the most useful members of their team, but she's also the quietest. She barely talks to Adrian, and from the way she looks at him whenever he speaks, he can tell she doesn't like him very much.

“That's an Alpha.”

Selene's voice is barely above a whisper, and Adrian follows her gaze. Something moves between the trees before it finally emerges, revealing an Alpha Wolf. Its body is much larger than the others, its muscles tense beneath its fur as its eyes lock onto Selene. Before she can react, it lunges.

“Selene!”

Darius moves.

The Alpha Wolf's claws slam against his sword, and the impact sends a powerful shock through the ground. Selene stumbles backward and fell hurting her hands from the torn on the ground, her eyes wide, while Darius grits his teeth as he holds the beast back.

“Adrian!”

He freezes.

“Heal her!”

Adrian immediately understands and rushes toward Selene, placing his hands against her shoulder.

Healing.

His ability.

The weakest ability anyone can possibly awaken.

At the Awakening Ceremony, everyone around him laughs when the crystal reveals his rank. E-Rank. Healing. People look at him like he's useless, and some even ask why he bothers attending the academy. He remembers standing there while everyone else awakens powerful abilities like fire, lightning, sword skills, Beast summoning, and then there's him, a healer who can barely heal one person without exhausting himself.

Even after coming to this world, Adrian somehow ends up in the same position he was in on Earth. Weak. Useless. The kind of person everyone pushes around. But Lena doesn't. She stays beside him and also tells him that he shouldn’t be ashamed of being a healer and that one day he’ll show everyone.

So he keeps going.

He trains himself and learns everything he can about dungeons and monsters. And when Darius asks him to join his team, he agrees straight away, maybe this is his chance to prove that he's not useless, he thought to himself.

“Adrian!”

Marcus's voice snaps him back to reality.

Adrian looks up and sees more wolves coming.

Not ordinary wolves.

More Alpha Wolves.

His heart drops, and he can barely keep his breathing steady. Healing Selene already drains a large portion of his mana, leaving his legs weak as sweat runs down the side of his face. Darius steps backward, keeping his sword between them and the monsters.

“Everyone, prepare yourselves!”

The wolves spread out, one moving to the left and another to the right, before they all begin closing in. Adrian grips his hands tightly as he tries to steady himself, but he has zero combat experience. He's never fought a monster before, and he's never even held a proper weapon.

So when one of the Alpha Wolves suddenly launches itself toward him, his entire body freezes.

Its jaws open, and its claws stretch toward his face.

The wolf is coming straight for his head.

Adrian raises his arms instinctively, but he knows that won't stop it.

Its claws are already inches away.

And all he can do is stare.

His feet simply carried him forward, and by the time he realised what was happening, he was already walking toward the cafeteria doors behind her. What am I doing?Sandra's presence seemed to weigh on his mind, making it difficult to resist the simple command she had given him. Adrian hurried after her, his heart beating faster than usual as he crossed the cafeteria. The moment they passed through the doors, the whispers erupted again."Did you see that? • An Unexpected Visitor

One..Marcus leaned back in his chair, his smirk growing as he raised a finger toward Adrian, he was clearly enjoying the situation, and the fact that Adrian hadn't backed down made it even more entertaining for him."Two..."The students gathered around the table began whispering again, some leaning toward their friends while others openly watched the confrontation. "Has Adrian gone mad? He's actually challenging an S-Rank combatant in public!" one student whispered, shaking his head. Another folded his arms and scoffed. "Maybe surviving that dungeon made him think he's invincible. He should be grateful he escaped with his life instead of looking for trouble."But what if he found something in the dungeon? a student sitting nearby interrupted. "I've heard that an SSS-Rank Dragon Gem can help an awakened evolve their power. If Adrian found one, maybe his rank has changed."His friend immediately shook his head. "That's impossible. This was supposed to be an A-Rank dungeon. SSS-Rank Dr

Adrian quickly shook his head. "No, no. I'm only shy around pretty girls."Stephanie blinked. Then she smiled."That's sweet." Her smile remained on her face, but her eyes did not soften. "But I don't buy that."Adrian swallowed."Someone as handsome as you should find it easy to flirt with girls," she continued. "So tell me, why are you suddenly frightened by my presence?"Adrian forced himself to smile."Maybe I'm just nervous."Stephanie stepped closer."Tell me the truth," she said softly, "or I'll break your bones beyond healing."Adrian's smile nearly disappeared. That's exactly why I'm scared. His enhanced eyes had already shown him everything he needed to know.SSS-Rank.The energy flowing through Stephanie's body was nothing like that of an ordinary nurse. • Mysterious Nurse

The academy hospital was much quieter than Adrian expected. The moment the doctor finished checking the wounds, he ordered several scans, blood tests, and other examinations before Adrian was allowed to leave. Adrian sat on the edge of the examination bed while a machine passed over his body, its soft mechanical hum filling the room as images appeared on the screen beside the doctor. After several minutes, another nurse came in to take a blood sample, and then the doctor checked the results before looking at Adrian again."Why all these scans and tests?" Adrian finally asked, glancing at the equipment around him. "You already checked my wound, and it's completely healed."The doctor adjusted his glasses and looked at the scan in his hand. "Nothing important. We're just making sure you're still human and haven't mutated."Adrian raised an eyebrow."Mutated?""You've heard about it before, haven't you?" The doctor asked.Adrian nodded slowly. He had heard the rumors. Whenever a party en

  • Against All Odds

But when he reached it, he found out the passage was blocked. He remembers what had happened, and his expression changed. Darius and the others had sealed this path when they escaped, and he had no way to reach the exit from here."Surely there must be another way," he said to himself. Adrian’s golden eyes scanned the walls for an opening. Then he remembered the big hole he saw at this angle while the SS-Rank Goblin had dragged him through the secret passageway. His eyes traced the path the creature had taken, and he recalled how it had climbed upward before reaching the chamber when it first appeared. He looked toward the wall and finally spotted something unusual. A section looking like a solid wall was in fact a fake wall hiding in the surrounding rock. Adrian ran up to it and pushed it. The hidden section slid back, revealing a narrow passage going upwards. He didn't waste another second and started to climb, grabbing the rocks with both hands and pulling himself up.Another ma

  • The Awakening of the God Eyes

Adrian eyes quickly scanned the cave. His vision had changed, and the darkness no longer concealed anything from him. Blue crystals embedded in the walls illuminated the chamber, revealing bones scattered across the ground alongside broken weapons, ruined armour, communication devices, and other belongings that had clearly belonged to students who had entered the dungeon but never returned.Adrian scurried over to the remnants and started gathering what he could use. He collected bits of metal, broken boards, straps, anything that looked strong enough to hold together, trusting his new eyes to tell him what was useful and what was worthless junk. In a few minutes he had made a rough carriage that would aid him for his goal. It was ugly, but it didn't need to be pretty either.Adrian turned toward the pregnant goblin. "Come on." He moved beside her and carefully tried to lift her, but she didn't respond. After examining her face and checking her body again, he confirmed that she was st
