With the court case being over, Pablo was able to win the case for Maxwell. It only meant that he had taken back everything that Victor took from his father.

Maxwell had finally reclaimed his legacy and was now in charge of all of his father's assets including the companies. This left the Morgans at a total loss. They had no choice but to return to their home.

When Maxwell's parents died and Victor took charge of his companies, he and Patricia left their little villa and moved to the Hunts’ mansion. Victor became intoxicated by his late friend's wealth and affluence so he did all he could to keep it.

All of the late Edward Hunt's loyal staff were sent on their toes.

Sitting down on the sofa of his sitting room, Victor propped his jaws on his palm and was lost in his thoughts. He was soon jolted out of his reverie when Patricia tapped his shoulder.

“I can't believe something like this will happen to us. How did we get so careless and not change all the names on those documents? What's going to happen to us now?”

Victor lifted his head, glanced at his worried wife and lowered his gaze again before replying.

“That was really stupid of us. How did we even let a stranger into our house that she broke into my safe and stole such important documents.”

The couple were still baffled and couldn't comprehend the whole thing. They only employed Angel to do a job for them. Unfortunately, she had an ulterior motive.

“Why did the Angel lady turn around and start working for Maxwell? She was the reason he went to prison. I'm still trying to comprehend how it all happened.”

“If you ask me, I'll say they had it all planned out. I'm sure Maxwell and Angel already knew each other before we contacted her for the job.” Patricia added but Victor shook his head negatively. He didn't agree with what his wife said.

How is it possible that Maxwell will sacrifice his freedom? If he knew about his identity, he would never have continued staying with them after finding out. He would not have taken all the insult and ill treatment meted out to him, had he learned the truth on time.

Maxwell would have found a way to take the documents himself and left the house.

When Maxwell came of age and began to ask questions about his real parents, the couple lied to him. They told him that his parents died in an accident and that he was lucky to be alive.

According to Victor and Patricia, they searched for any family members but didn't find any so they decided to raise him as their own.

Maxwell grew up believing the lies they told him. Unfortunately for him, all the people who knew about his real identity could not contact him.

Victor rose up from his seat and stood before his wife. As the duo stared at each other, Victor shook his head.

“No, they couldn't have been working together. I think Angel felt bad for what she did and decided to do something good as makeup. We have to do something about this.”

Victor turned around and began to walk towards the television while Patricia followed behind.

“What can we do now to change the situation? The deed is already done.”

“Are you saying we should give up all hope? You want us to let it be bygone.”

Victor was a smart one and always the one to come up with ideas. Patricia, on the other hand, could not think of anything, especially if they found themselves in a tight corner. She was the kind of wife that only smiled and waved and had not much to contribute.

She'd always go with whatever suggestions her husband comes up with.

“I don't want us to give up. However, we're in a very tight spot now and if anything happens to Maxwell, all fingers will be pointed to us. What do you suggest we do?”

“I don't know. I'm totally short of ideas.”

This time, Victor was helpless. He had lost all the power and affluence he once had to Maxwell. When his friends and partners heard about what happened, they all cut ties with him, that also includes the commissioner.

If it wasn't for the commissioner, the couple would have been sent to prison for what they did. However, the man used his influence to stop them from being jailed. It was a way of paying back for all the things he benefited from Victor when he was posing around with Maxwell's wealth.

“Look Victor, consider this my way of paying you back for all the help you've rendered to me in the past. And don't contact me again in the future because I want nothing to do with you again.” Commissioner James had made his points clear after which he broke ties with Victor.

Victor, on the other hand, had remained speechless and watched the man walk away from his presence.

From where he had stood that day at the court, he saw Maxwell and his supporters jubilating and making faces at him. He had to leave the place angrily with his wife. Valerie, his daughter, was not present during the court proceedings.

Since Victor was not able to come up with an idea, the couple just kept exchanging glances as they continued to think harder.

Meanwhile, Maxwell, Pablo and Wyatt were celebrating at the mansion. A place he once served as a servant and poor son in-law. It was now his and had originally been his.

Maxwell had reconnected with his best friend Wyatt during the court hearing. They were high school friends and they lost contact after Wyatt went to college. Victor didn't send Maxwell to college because he thought it was a waste of money.

Maxwell had to stop schooling at high school and decided to look for any job that would pay him. He was made to provide some money for running the house especially after he secretly got married to Valerie.

“Cheers to our victory in court today.”

Maxwell raised his glass up and the others joined him. “Cheers.”

Although Angel contributed so much in helping Maxwell reclaim his legacy, she was not present during their celebration. Maxwell didn't want her around because he was yet to forgive her.

He believed that they were now even and should go their separate ways. Angel did him wrong and had made up for it so there was nothing he needed from her again.

The three men were still in the spirit of the celebration when a security guard knocked and came to meet with them.

Turning to Maxwell, he reported. “Sir, a young lady is making a scene outside and trying to force her way in but we refused. She wants to see you.”

The man replied and added.“He claims to be aware of what I did. That you and your wife should be rotting in jail but I helped you escape jail time.”
