Without a word, Maxwell started towards the door and to the gate where the woman was making a scene. It was on his way to the gate that he realized the glass in his hand.
Maxwell prayed earnestly that the lady shouldn't be Angel. He didn't want to be forced to call the police on her. Angel had done a good deed for him and he didn't want them to have any more problems.
Although he had promised to make her pay for what she did to him. However, he changed his mind when she helped him retrieve the documents he used in reclaiming his legacy.
Maxwell was not going to do anything to her again. All he wanted was for the lady to stay away from him.
He soon got closer to the gate and saw Valerie already inside. She had managed to force her way in. Stopping in his tracks, Maxwell glanced at the lady before him as the memory of their past together flashed before his face.
“What are you doing here, Valerie?” He asked the lady before him as he gaped at her.
Valerie was the only woman he ever loved and losing her was so heartbreaking. It was also more heartbreaking when he was sent to prison afterwards.
Turning around to stare at the men at his side, he saw the confusing looks on their faces. They were completely in the dark and didn't understand what was going on.
Pablo knew who Valerie was but never knew she was once married to Maxwell.
“Hmph.” Valerie snorted coldly and stared at Maxwell with a sneer on her face.
“Well, I can see that you're not a worthless pauper afterall. You're a rich young man who has succeeded in taking everything from my parents. I can also see from the glass that you're celebrating your victory in court today.”
“It was your parents who took everything from me. And yes, I'm celebrating my victory in court today.” Maxwell quickly retorted with his gaze still fixed on Valerie and eyes burning with hatred for her.
She's changed so much from the sweet girl he once loved to a bitter person. Her parents had really influenced her a lot.
Like him, Valerie didn't know anything about Maxwell's identity. She only learned that they were not siblings which was why they fell for each other and went ahead to get married.
“What do you want, Valerie Morgan?” Maxwell didn't know her husband's family name and didn't care.
“I came to take my own share of the properties. We were married, so naturally, I have a share from all your assets since we're already divorced.” Valerie said seriously and Maxwell began to laugh.
He lifted the glass in his hand and poured all of its contents into his mouth.
Pablo, who was Maxwell's lawyer, decided not to keep quiet. He stepped forward and spoke to Valerie.
“Miss Valerie Morgan. With all due respect, I think you should leave now or you will be arrested for trespassing. Like you already said, you were once married but now divorced. I'm also sure that your parents had a hand in everything. They didn't want you two to be together because Maxwell was poor. Now, he has reclaimed his legacy, you suddenly want to acquire some of his properties, that's never going to happen.”
“You don't have to worry yourself with the explanation, Pablo. She knows that already. Moreover, we are no longer married so I owe her nothing.” Maxwell added.
“And who invited you into our conversations?” Valerie directed the question to Pablo before turning to Maxwell. “If you don't give me all that is supposed to be mine, I'm going to file a case against you. I'm not going to rest until I get everything that should belong to me.”
Valerie thought that since her parents could no longer have everything, she'd have to get all that she could. She was never going to back down.
Maxwell could not help but chuckle. Valerie must be a joker.
“But Miss Valerie, you should know that the divorce have already happened before Maxwell became rich. You can't get anything from him again.” Wyatt, who had been silent, tried to explain things to her but she shut him up.
“Will you shut that nosy mouth of yours. Who asked for your opinion?” Valerie snorted at him while glaring at them.
“Well, I've not come here to banter words with you because I don't have the time. I only came to inform you on what you should do because I'm never going to let you have it all.”
Valerie gave them all a dirty look before storming out of the place and soon drove off in her car.
She was not aware of the strange man who had been stalking her.
As soon as Valerie left the place, Maxwell and the others started towards the house but soon heard someone banging on the gate. They also turned back to the direction of the gate and saw a strange man outside.
He was arguing with the security guard.
“I need to see your boss immediately. Now go in and call him out for me.”
“What do you want, Mr? If you keep yelling, then I'll have no choice but to call the police. You're constituting a public nuisance.” The security replied while still blocking the man from getting access to the gate.
“What is going on here?” Maxwell interrupted them and the man turned to stare at him, disgust written all over his face.
“Who are you and what do you want from my security?”
“It's you I came to see, Maxwell or whatever your name is called.”
Maxwell didn't know who the man was so why was he looking for him. From the way he was acting, it looked like the strange man was really angry with him.
“So how can I help you?” Maxwell asked, ignoring the man's insolence. He needed to get the reason a strange man suddenly showed up at his residence and was acting up.
“That's a good question. If you must know, my name is Maurice Carter and I'm Valerie's husband. I've come to warn you to stay away from her. She's now my wife and no longer yours so back off.”
Maxwell and the other men were stunned to hear what the man just said. They were completely speechless. He had caused a little scene of passersby outside and the onlookers stopped to listen to the conflict.
Maxwell didn't know Maurice but the latter knew him. It was during his time in prison that he got married to Valerie and Maxwell only learned that his ex-wife had remarried. However, he didn't know who she got married to and did not care.
“Look, Maxwell. I've come to warn you. Don't be a homewrecker. I love my wife so much and won't take it if someone tries to come in between us.”
Maurice angrily stormed out of their presence and into an awaiting car.

You will surely find a good man.” Patricia quickly hushed her.“And about Maxwell, you can't count your marriage with him. We both know it was almost like you two were never married." “But we were married and I'm going to count it. It can't completely be ignored since I also signed a marriage license with him.” Valerie quickly retorted and tossed the divorce papers aside before standing up from her bed. With a darkened expression, she walked away from her Mom and went to sit on her dressing table, staring right back at her reflection. She still got her pretty face but she sure looked like someone who had been through a lot.Her face was not as bright as it used to b

"Beat them at their own game by working quietly while plotting their absolute downfall.”"You've taken everything from them and I'm sure that they won't stay quiet for long.” Pablo said calmly before adding.“The Morgans could be down now but I'm sure that they're very dangerous. Don't underestimate them." “Alright. Thank you Pablo." “And you should start going around with bodyguards to keep you safe.” Pablo ended the call afterwards.Maxwell turned to Wyatt and apologized. “I'm sorry about that. I just had to get confirmation on certain things.”"It's ok, Maxwell.” Wyatt responded before thinking to himself.‘It's not just the Morgans you should be wary of, Maxwell. Get ready for what's coming from me’.Wyatt smiled at Maxwell and lifted up his glass of beer. “Cheers to life, friendship and many victories ahead." Maxwell smiled back at him and also lifted his glass. “Cheers." The two friends shared more drinks until they had enough. Maxwell then stood up, he was a little drunk b

However, Wyatt only faked a smile before responding.“Tell me the truth, Maxwell. Have you fallen in love with Angel?" Maxwell was taken unawares by the question. He swallowed hard and let out a sigh before giving Wyatt a response.“No. I don't have any feelings for her. So tell me where the question is coming from." “What makes you think that I'm in love with her." “Because you seemed to care a lot about her lately. After giving each of them an intense look, Valerie replied to them. “Are you talking about the court case with Maxwell which I did not tell Maurice about.”"Yes. Is that the reason your marriage with Maurice is over?”“No, that's not the reason. It was because Maurice's company was experiencing a big loss.
