The window glass shattered into tiny pieces as Jack's last shot hit the frame.

With one hand clutching the skid, he hung upside down outside the whirling helicopter.

His face was battered so violently by the wind and rain that it stung.

His scar burned from the cold, and his fingers started to slip.

Inside, Darius grabbed the dead pilot's seat and yanked the stick. The helicopter lurched sideways.

He glanced at Jack through the broken glass.

His eyes were wide with terror mixed with hatred.

Jack used all of his strength to pull himself up. His boots found the skid.

He reached inside and grabbed Darius by the coat collar.

The chopper dipped low over the Bronx rooftops.

Darius swung a fist. It caught Jack on the jaw.

Jack's mouth was filled with blood but he did not let go.

From the ground crew below, Mike's voice crackled in Jack's earpiece. "You're too high, boss! Jump, we have ropes ready!”

Jack ignored him. Halfway out the door, he pulled Darius along with him.

The man's gray hair flew wildly in the wind.

Darius grabbed Jack's arm, his nails digging into skin.

The helicopter spun faster. The warehouse roof closed up fast.

Jack saw it coming. He pushed Darius back inside and kicked the control stick with a forceful left kick.

The helicopter crashed into the roof from the side. The metal screamed as the blades clashed with the concrete. Sparks were flying all over.

Jack rolled over as his body crashed down. He hit the gravel hard. A sharp pain rushed through his shoulder. And the crash erupted in smoke.

Legion soldiers ran across the roof with guns ready.

Mike ran Jack first. He grabbed his arm and pulled him up.

“You crazy, boss? You could've died.”

Jack got up slowly. His lip was bleeding. He wiped it with the back of his hand. “But I didn't. Get Darius.”

Two soldiers dragged Darius from the twisted metal. His leg had crooked. His clothes were drenched with blood.

Even so, he managed a weak smile.

They chained his hands and feet right there on the roof. Rain washed the blood into the gravel.

Darius looked up at Jack. His face was pale, but his eyes still burned.

Jack knelt down beside him. His voice came low.

“Talk.”

Darius coughed. “Or what? You kill me?”

Jack pressed a boot on the broken leg. Darius screamed once. Then bit his lip hard. Sweat mixed with rain on his forehead.

Mike handed Jack the old letters from the mansion safe. Jack raised one up. “Victoria's handwriting. She gave you Hart land deals.”

Darius took a deep breath. "Old debt. She owed me from the war. I saved her once. She simply returned the favor..”

Jack's boot pressed harder. Darius groaned. Jack's expression remained unmoving.

Despite the throbbing ache in his own shoulder, he remained composed.

Mike looked at the sky for more helicopters. “Boss, we need to move. Police will be here soon.”

Jack stood up. “Take him to the Vault deep cell.”

They carried Darius down fire stairs to a waiting truck. He couldn't fight anymore. His head hung low. Blood dripped steadily.

The trucks sped to the hidden entrance under the subway. The doors opened like a mouth and swallowed the team whole.

Inside the vault, the cold lights buzzed on. The wall was made of steel. Computer screens glowed blue.

They chained Darius to a metal chair in a small room with no window. Two guards stood outside.

Jack walked into the room. He dropped the letters on the table.

They landed with a soft thud. Slowly, Darius raised his head.

Jack sat across from him. His wet coat dripped on the floor.

The cut on his palm had opened again. The table was smeared with blood.

Darius looked at the blood. Then at Jack's face. “You look tired.”

Jack picked up one letter. “Save me your pathetic words. Read this.”

Darius looked down. His hand trembled slightly as he read Victoria's words loud.

His voice was rough from pain.

When he was done, he looked up. “She was scared. Always was.”

Jack leaned forward. “You used her fear.”

Darius shrugged his shoulders. “Business.”

Jack stood fast. The chair gave a loud scraping sound.

He walked out without another word.

Mike was waiting for him in the hall. “Victoria is here.

We brought her from the mansion.”

Jack nodded. “Bring her.”

Victoria walked in slowly. Her cane clicking on concrete.

Her white hair was messy from the night. Her eyes were red from crying.

She saw the letters on the table in the next room through the glass.

Her hand went to her mouth. She looked at Jack. Her lips trembled.

Jack gestured toward a chair. "Take a seat."

She sat heavily. Her cane dropped to the ground.

She couldn't pick it up. Her hands shook in her lap.

Jack stood over her. His shadow fell across her face.

He held up the letter. “How can you choose him over family?”

Victoria's voice came small. “I was young then. He helped me when no one would. I thought it was the best thing to do.”

Jack's eyes stayed hard. “You thought wrong.”

Victoria looked down. Tears fell on her hands. She quickly wiped them off. Her shoulders trembled.

Mike watched from the door. His expression remained blank.

He had seen Jack like this before. It never ended well.

Jack spoke quietly. “Your accounts will remain frozen. And the guards would stay at the mansion.

You will spend the rest of your life isolated in your house”

Victoria nodded slowly. She picked up her cane with shaking fingers and stood up straight as she could.

For the first time, she met Jack's gaze. “I am sorry for everything,” she said. The words came out cracked.

Jack turned away. “Take her back.”

One of the guards entered the room and led her out.

Her cane clicked slower now.

Mike entered the room immediately and closed the door behind him. “Bad news. Victor had gone live on every channel calling you a terrorist.”

Jack walked to the screen. It was filled with Victor's face. Red and angry as he shouted about his frozen account.

Jack watched without blinking. “Fix it.”

Mike swung into action immediately and commanded the Legion hackers to go to work.

Minutes later, everything changed.

Victor's phone rang on screen. He answered it live.

His face went white as he heard the truth play back.

The news man cut in. "A shocking update. Mike's claim is fake, no account is frozen. The Hart family confirms.

Victor dropped the phone. Took a firm seat on the chair he was sitting on.

Jack turned the screen off. “One problem solved.”

Mike checked a tablet. “ We just found a Yacht on the Hudson. It was Darius's.”

Jack grabbed a new dry coat. “Let's go.”

They took a fast boat down the river. The water black at night. On one side, the city lights are dazzling.

The yacht sat quiet. White and big with a few guards on deck.

Jack's team boarded silently from the back. They attacked first with their knives. The guards dropped without sound.

Inside, some men sat around a table with a map with power lines marked.

Jack kicked the door open with guns up.

The men reached for weapons but they were too slow.

Legion fired. Three men down immediately. One ran.

Jack chased him and tackled him on deck.

He pressed his knee on his back. “Where are the grid files?”

The man gasped. “In the safe…inside the captain's room…”

Jack ordered Mike to check the room. He found the safe and blew it open.

The files were inside with codes and plans to cut the city power at dawn.

He brought it to Jack. His scar itches as he reads fast.

Mike looked over his shoulder. “This shuts down the entire city.”

Jack nodded. “Yes. There is no time to waste. Burn the yacht.”

They set the bomb and ran.

The yacht exploded behind them. Fire lit the water orange.

Mike steered the boat and grinned broadly. “Excellent wok.”

Suddenly there was a gunshot from a great distance.

Mike jerked. His arm was covered in blood. He had been shot.

He collapsed on the seat. “Boss…”

Jack grabbed the wheel. He steered hard.

Another shot came but missed. Jack looked back. He saw a sniper on a distant dock.

The sniper fell. Hit by Legion fire from another boat.

Mike pressed his wound. Pain was clear on his face.

Jack gripped the wheel tighter. His knuckles white.

The boat sped into the dark river.
