At exactly Eight ante Meridien, Caius arrived at the big black gate of Kingswell University in a simple outfit that was easily ignored— plain white shirt with faded gold stripe, black pants that looked modest and a sneaker on his feet that was probably inheritance or given to him by a kind neighbor because his appearance looks like someone who couldn't afford a good one but at that moment, the young man was standing at the gate of Kingswell— the name ring a bell— the most expensive school in the state.

Caius adjusted his bag and walked to meet the security man at the gate.

"Good morning, Sir," He greeted politely and the man looked up from his desk in mild surprise.

"Morning, how may I be of help to you, young man?" The uniformed security asked, his eyes searching his appearance intently.

"I need your help directing me to the admission office." He said, keeping his voice polite and the security man was getting more surprised in his expression.

"Are you a visitor here?"

"A new student." Caius said.

The security gasped gently. He looked at the young man before him again. He was different from the other students here that wear clothes that probably cost more than his two years salary and he was surprised with Caius polite speech because students here are arrogant and very mannerless.

The security nodded and stepped closer to him. "I see you're different," he said, "I'll give you a piece of advice— just be careful here or preferably..why did you think of coming to a place like this? Can you survive?"

"Excuse me?" Caius raised a brow in confusion.

"Nevermind," the man waved it off, "you'll find out yourself."

Before Caius could ask any question, the man pointed to a building in the distance.

"When you get to Block A, you're at the admission office."

Caius nodded. "Thank you, Sir," and walked inside.

The main Quad scattered with students hanging around—a few with books, some with lovers and some clustered in squads laughing at something on their phone.

His mind circled to the reason why he was at Kingswell— to look for a his destiny lover. Caius belonged to a family where at Nineteen, a male child would have a dream that shows him the face of his destiny lover and Caius was here to look for her, his actual identity kept to fulfill the purpose.

He pulled out his phone. On the screen displayed the perfect hand sketch of a beautiful young woman with cascading black hair.

He exhaled sharply. "I hope I find her soon." He muttered, staring at the image for some seconds before shoving down the phone into his pocket.

The mechanical sound of a Car tore through the air behind as a red Audi A8 pulled over in style at the school parking lot. The plate displayed a name in bold: Thompson Parker.

The name that shakes the entire school, son of a renowned millionaire in the city, his father is the biggest shareholder of the school and because of that, Thompson carried himself with the arrogance of an untouchable person. He's the biggest bully in the school. Bark to his beat and you're swimming in his favor, walk in his lane and be ready to face a brutal consequence.

He stepped out of the car in one of the lastest designer Jacket in his expensive wardrobe— Handsomely troublesome.

"Awww.. he's looking super hotter today." A girl squealed in excitement.

"Goddammit! A night with him and I'll be crazy for life." Another girl said leered.

Caius shook his head. "That's quite the spectacle for a gate entrance." Without any interest, he walked to the Block A— the registrar office and pressed door bell gently.

"Come in,"

He pushed the door open and stepped inside to see a man seated inside the clean office, clad in a white black suit, his eyes fixed on the computer in his front, fingers clattering across the keys frantically. Nathaniel Graves. His name was displayed on the gold name plate on the desk edge.

"Good morning, Sir." Caius greeted him to have his attention but the man didn't look up from his computer.

"State your purpose here."

"I'm here to register."

The man's hand froze on the keys. He looked up, adjusting his glasses for proper observation.

"Are you joking with me, young man?" His voice hardened.

"Joke? Does it sound like comedy, Sir?" Caius responded, his expression serious and his voice respectful.

The tone was convincing but Nathaniel Graves had seen students come inside his office to play all sorts of tricks for fun.

"I don't have time for your silly jokes, young man," he said. "The school admitted had closed. Get out of my office before I get mad."

Caius kept his expression undisturbed.

"Don't you think it's right you check my file? I'm a transfer student."

The man looked up to see him pulling out the familiar school file. His expression twisted in anger.

"So you went to the extreme forging a file to claim studentship?! You've stupidly walked into a mess you—"

He lunged for the desk telephone to call the security but coincidentally his personal phone buzzed, cutting the rest of his words off.

"I advise you pick that first." Caius said casually. The Registrar glanced at him, but without any interest and picked up his personal phone willingly without paying an attention to the strange number displayed on the screen.

"Hello..who is this..What...Sir..." His voice shifted instantly, trembling. The Force with which he jerked up from his Swivel Chair rocked the chair violently behind. His voice tumbled out. ".Sir...he's right here...yes sir. No delay. I'll attend to him right away, Sir.

He dropped the call.

Silence settled in the office allowing the air conditioner to hum loudly in their ear. His gaze locked on the young man in his front.

"Who..who are you?"

  • Chapter 13 : The Morning After

For a few seconds, Arabella didn’t know where she was.The ceiling was wrong. The bed was too soft, too wide, the sheets smelling faintly of something clean and unfamiliar instead of the thin detergent Margaret bought in bulk. Her body tensed on instinct, the way it always did when something didn’t match what she expected — and then it came back to her in pieces. Margaret’s voice. The photograph. Caius’s hand around hers in the stairwell. She sat up slowly, pulling the blanket to her chest like she needed to justify taking up the space at all.The room was simple compared to what she imagined a place like this could be — no gold trim, no absurd chandelier — but everything in it was quietly, unmistakably expensive. The kind of expensive that didn’t need to announce itself. She ran her thumb along the edge of the blanket and felt a small stab of guilt she couldn’t fully explain. She wasn’t supposed to be somewhere like this. When she came out, Caius was already up, standing near the win

  • Chapter 12 : The Hings She Never Knew

“What did you mean by that?”Arabella hadn’t moved from the doorway. The words had come out of her before she’d decided to say them, steadier than she felt.Margaret’s face closed like a shop at the end of a bad day. “I didn’t mean anything. Don’t stand there making a scene out of nothing.”“You said my mother left something behind. You’ve told me for ten years she left nothing. Debts, you said. A funeral I couldn’t even afford to attend properly. Which is it, Margaret?”“Don’t take that tone with me in my own house.”“Then answer the question.”Margaret’s eyes flicked toward Caius, standing quiet by the door, and something in his stillness seemed to unsettle her more than Arabella’s voice had. “You’re upset. You’re not thinking clearly. Go on, then, run off with your little rescuer and see how far that gets you. See who’s still here when he gets bored of playing hero.”“That’s not an answer either.”For a moment Margaret said nothing, and in that silence Arabella felt something shift

  • Chapter 11 : The Door He Shouldn't Have Opened

Caius was halfway across the cracked pavement when he heard it — a woman’s voice, sharp and clipped, cutting through a window left open despite the evening chill. He stopped walking. It wasn’t shouting. That was the strange part. It was worse than shouting, the kind of voice that had rehearsed its own cruelty so many times it no longer needed volume.“Do you think I don’t know where you were?”He couldn’t make out Arabella’s answer. Her voice, when it came, was too low, too careful, the voice of someone choosing each word like it might cost her something.Caius’s jaw tightened. He glanced back at the taxi still idling at the curb, then at the apartment building — three floors of peeling paint and a stairwell light that flickered like it was considering giving up entirely. He climbed the steps two at a time and stopped outside a door with a number hanging by one screw. He didn’t knock. Not yet. He stood there, hand hovering an inch from the wood, and made himself listen.“I asked you a

Diane stumbled out of the restaurant in rage, her face humiliated and makeup smudged across her face with a slap from her lover she never expected. On her way out , she spun around expecting Ryan to rush after her, but she was even more angry and bittered seeing him still groveling at her step sister's feet like an insect."How disgusting! This is over!!" She hissed, strutting out again. She nearly lost her footing on the marble just before she made it to the door.Inside the restroom, Caius held Arabella's wrist and gently pulled her away from Ryan. He looked down at him then to Marcus Williams who was skill shaking at the side in panic and whispering apology."You know what to do, Marcus," his voice was ice wrapped in silk— no shout— just quiet command. "Someone like him isn't fitting to be in the Cross family business. Using the Cross name to brag, to threat common people. Do you think it woul

  • Chapter 8: The Cross Firm

Caius looked at her intently."What was that? An accusation? Or Is this a police station where you report your stolen stuff." His voice was quiet and firm."Who the heck are you to speak to me like that?" Diane's voice cracked through the air like a gunshot making heads turned immediately."You're loud, young woman," Caius simply said, "you're shouting on my girlfriend." Diane tossed her hair to the back, diamond necklace catching the illuminants on her neck. She let out a laughter that echoed off the roof like shattering glass."Girlfriend? Huh? Perfect. Just perfect.." She spun to Arabella who was panicking across the table, muttering something no one heard that could be a plea."So this is what you do, Huh? You hook up with some trash and tell them to spit nonsense at me?"Caius's inside boiled but he didn't move. His expression was perfectly impossibly composed."Diane..no.. that's not true.
