Chapter 6

Calling Security on the CEO

Emily laughed him to scorn. He was basically blabbing. There was no way Zachary that she knew would own a company such as this.

Even though the company belonged to his grandfather, Zachary was not sure what was in Kelvin's mind. He was yet to find out what Kelvin would introduce him as before his staff.

He only claimed to be the owner of the company just to get Emily to talk. And of course, it worked. 

Zachary was already a hundred million dollars rich. Something he was sure the general manager, who happened to be Emily's father, was not worth.

"You're so delusional Zach. I think you've gone insane and no mad person is allowed in this Vicinity." Emily snapped at him while bringing out her cellphone.

"I'm calling the security to throw you out immediately."

Zachary beckoned on her to go ahead. 

Seeing the boldness he exhibited, Emily was somewhat confused. This was not the Zachary she knew. Firstly, he claimed to own this company and now he told her to go ahead and call security on him.

Staring at him in bewilderment , Emily still went ahead to call Security.

"Security? I think there's an imposter that has managed to evade you. Come towards the elevator and whisk him out immediately."

Zachary folded his arms around his stomach with confidence at Emily's dismay.

Before the security arrived at the scene, a middle aged lady stepped out of the elevator. Noticing the tense environment between the duo, she asked.

"What's going on here?"

Emily was about to reply when she called out to Zachary like she knew him before.

"You must be Zachary Michael."

Zachary hummed in response.

"The boss has been waiting for you. Come with me."

Emily looked stunned like someone who has just seen a ghost.

With mouth agape, she stared at them as they entered the elevator that was going to the CEO's office.

Zachary made a face that got her more irritated. She opened her mouth to say something but was lost for words as she watched the elevator close with Zachary waving at her.

At the CEO's office, Kelvin watched all the drama that went on between Emily and Zachary in disbelief. He could tell that they had known themselves before and from the look of things, they were not friends.

Obviously there were CCTV cameras everywhere except the restroom, so he could see everything from his phone.

As the door of the CEO's office flung open, Zachary and Maraya walked in.

"Hi… Grandpa." He greeted his grandfather. Though he hesitated before saying the word 'Grandpa'.

He was still trying to get used to calling someone else Grandpa as Nathan was the only Grandpa he knew.

"Son, come have a seat." 

Kelvin directed him to the armchair opposite him.

Maraya gave them a puzzled look. She was confused as to how the young man before her became Kelvin's grandson. 

Since she became Kelvin's P.A, she had learnt he had just a son.

Kelvin noticed the confusion on Maraya's face and introduced Zachary to her.

"Maraya, meet Zachary. My grandson and the new CEO of Influitive Oil and gas.' 

He also turned to Zachary with a broad smile. Seeing how Zachary received the news with a shock.

"Zach, my grandson. This is Maraya, my P.A. She would acquaint you with all that is to know."

As they shook their hands, Maraya stared at Zachary in disbelief. 

"Nice to meet you." They both echoed.

"You can call me if you need anything." Maraya continued before starting towards the door but Kelvin called her back.

"Maraya, I'm already an old man as you can see. So I need you to guide Zachary as I retire. You can be his P. A, that's if it's ok with you. If you aren't fine with becoming my grandson's personal assistant, then I would give you a different position while I get another P.A for him."

Maraya stood there speechless as they both anticipated her response. 

Kelvin trusted her completely.

He was hoping she accepted his proposal because she would really be valuable to Zachary as he assumes his new role.

Maraya thought about it for a while and nodded in response.

"Yes. I would be his P. A." She replied. Her positive response caused Kelvin's face to brighten up.

"Thank you Maraya. I need you to gather the staff for an emergency meeting. I want to introduce the new CEO to them." 

He directed his gaze to his grandson who was looking lost. This new role would definitely be tough for Zachary but he would always support and mentor him.

On receiving an urgent memo, the workers of Influitive Oil and gas quickly assembled themselves at the usual large hall. 

They came in groups of twos and more as they wondered what this urgent news would be.

Noises of gossip were heard all over the place as they inquired amongst themselves to find out if someone has a hint. 

They were all kept in suspense.

Emily quickly located her Dad. Her earlier encounter with Zachary got her thinking a lot.

Why did Kelvin's secretary bring Zachary to his office? Was the question on her mind.

Was he really the new owner of the company as he claimed? She quickly shook off the thought as she concluded that it was not possible.

Tapping her father on the shoulder, Emily said to him. "Dad, I ran into Zachary near the elevator earlier."

John gave her daughter a surprised look.

"And what was his mission here." He asked.

"I'm not sure Dad but he claimed he was the new owner of the company. Can you imagine that?"

John laughed at her daughter's silly statement. She was sounding paranoid.

"Why do you sound bothered? We both know that isn't possible." John answered his daughter dismissively.

Just then, Kelvin came out with Zachary and Maraya and everywhere fell silent.

Echoes of whispers was all that was heard as the employees wondered who the young man beside their boss was.

"Everyone, listen to this important announcement." Kelvin interrupted some curious petty chats.

"I know you may be wondering who this young man is." He tapped at Zachary's shoulder.

"Well, not to take much of your time, I would be going straight to the point." He paused and observed the serene environment.

Everyone was curious hence the quietness.

"His name is Zachary Gabriel and he is the new owner of the company and of course the CEO.

"What!" Emily nearly fainted.
