Chapter 27

An old man sat in a cramped office, a cigarette hanging from his mouth. His leg was propped up on the table, and on the brown surface lay a gun, stun gun, and scattered silver bullets.

He exhaled a puff of smoke and spoke softly, "Katie, I think it's time for you to gain real experience. Intense training alone won't guarantee your position as the next heir. What do you think?" His voice carried a thick, husky tone.

"I'll go, and I'll be sure to accomplish my task!" she replied confidently.

He took another drag of his cigarette and stood up. Walking towards Katie, he gently rubbed her cheek. The old man smiled and asked, "How's your left eye?"

"It's taking time, but it is gradually healing," she answered.

"Do you resent me?" he inquired.

"Nope, I have no reason to do that. Everything is for my own sake, resenting you would be committing a sin," she replied sincerely.
