"Nothing dad." He replied further.
Soon enough, a cracking sound came from the door and a young man dressed in a glittering attire stepped into the place with a broad smile hovering on his face as he walked forward.
He bowed immediately his eyes met with the men, not daring to raise his head up even for a single moment.
"This is Mr. Edward." Luts father announced, "he is going to take you round my establishment once you are back to health." He smiled.
"Nice to meet you, Director Edward."
The words seemed to cause some strange reactions, making his face to quickly break up into cold sweat as he shuttered with the words in his mouth.
"Nice to meet you, too young master." He replied with his voice laced with so much respect as he eventually made his way out of the place.
Days turned into week and treated more like a king, and finally, he was okay and it was eventually time for him to leave.
The racing of his heart increased even more as he was taken off in the car by Mr. Edward who seemed to be really frightened of him.
"What about dad and sister?" He inquired with a strange look on his face.
"They are preparing for something big. But I don't think that you should worry about them. I am sure that there is more than enough that they are not here to see you off personally.
But anyways you don't have to worry too much. I will be taking you home with me." He soon announced once again.
They had always been with him during the time that he was sick but when he was eventually discharged, they were nowhere to be found.
Back at him, dropped off and Lut was lost in the state that lay before him. For a while, he could not move out from the point that he was standing, startled by the beautiful scenery that stood before him and it was looking more like a dream.
Even though he already knew that this belonged to him, he could not help it but feel amazed at the exclusive sight of it.
The raising of his heart increased faster and they eventually got into the house and he was led off to his room.
Having the best meal that he had ever had in a really long time, he had a sound from the door that made him jerk off from his steps.
His feet swayed off to the door and he wasn't expecting that his father was the one that was at the door and his lips quickly broke off into laughter.
"Hi dad." He quickly said, trying as hard as he could not to feel awkward.
"Do you like the place?" His father inquired and his eyes almost popped out from his eyes sockets at the sound of its words.
"Like it? I freaking love this place." The thoughts eventually steamed off from his head but he didn't dare to spit the words out from his mouth.
"I like it dad." He quickly replied but it wasn't looking like he was ready to step out from the place anytime soon.
"I wanted to talk to you about something. Can I come in?" He finally said and Lut quickly nodded his head.
His father walked off into the room and eventually sat at the end of the bed. The countenance of his face was more than enough to get him worried but he decided that he was not going to show it.
He could see that his father stopped for a while. Even though it was a blood relation, they were still getting to know each other so the air before them still seemed awkward.
"You wanted to talk to me about something, dad? I'm all ears." He said trying his best to be encouraging.
Mr. James nodded with a smile before turning around once again towards his child and muttering.
"I have been running this business for quite a while but I don't want you to build your wealth on my workings. I want you to build your wealth on your own." He said.
Lut continued to listen to what he was saying. He already had images in his head that his father was rich but he didn't know how rich he was.
"I know that you are already in college since I have had to do a lot of digging up about you and I also know that you have had a pretty rough life too. I am sorry for not being there and I promise to never leave yourself." He continued to say.
"However, the world isn't really as we see it to be and you won't be able to grow stronger if you lie in wait in my hands. It's certain that one day I will be gone and it might be too late." His speech was long while Lut was doing his best to catch up with it.
"So I wanted it to flow into the same line that you are working. I wanted it to be that you make a business on your own from the capital that you are going to be given." He said.
Quitely, he brought out a card from his pocket. Even though it was looking all nice and shining, it was a little bit confusing since he had not seen any card that looked like that before..
He finally took the card off from his father, his eyes still going on through it before quite a multiple time.
The look was silk and premium. Enough to get anyone to shift their gaze in its direction. But as premium and silkily that it was looking, it still didn't pass for a normal bank at.
Even though he was poor in his previous life, at least he knew what an authentic card should look like.
"But why isn't it looking like a normal card dad?" He finally inquired with his father's lips breaking into a smile immediately he heard the words and he said.
"Because it isn't a normal card. It's the purple card that has about a billionaire dollars. Half of that should be used for your business while the remaining half of it should be used for your living expenses." He explained but Lut could hardly hear further of his words as he was still lost for quite a while thinking about the amount that was just mentioned.
"A billionaire?" An enquiry escaped from his lips with his jaws still far apart with so much shock.

Champagne and shadows
The yacht sailed on the sea next to the city, the backdrop of the lights giving it a depth of serenity that Lutenant had barely noticed before. He gazed at the city from the balcony of the yacht. Emotions threatened to boil over as he gazed.Once upon a time, he had muddled through mud in this city.At the moment, he was about to be the supreme ruler. The announcement was set to be made the next night in the city Square. News channels and journalists would be there. His life had changed out of the blue, and Lutenant James didn't know how to feel.“A penny for your thoughts?”Aurora joined him on the balcony. She bore two flutes filled with champagne, and smiled shyly at him. The fact that they had worked for weeks on end but even now she could barely look at him in the face without reddening completely was something that baffled him.He loved it though.“I just can't believe it. I did it. I pulled it off.”“From the first day you walked through the doors of your father's company, I kn
Ashes of yesterday
“I wish I could explain now. But I'm running late.”He retrieved his phone from his pocket, stared at the screen for a few seconds, then began to make his way as hurriedly as possible out of the hall.“Richard! Richard! We have a child together. Is this the married life we talked about?”She held onto his shirt, unable to believe that he would actually abandon her without an explanation. He shoved her, shaking his head in frustration.“I'll call you, I promise. I'll call you.”Her body racking with sobs, Ariel turned to the stage as Lutenant announced that the dinner was officially open.Even in the midst of numerous faces and people, she caught his eyes on her this time around. He didn't smile, his eyes never wavered. The stare he gave her was not one of victory or revenge. It was a stare of pity.*Richard grasped the steering wheel as he made his way towards the outskirts of the city.Damn Ariel. All she did was show up at the wrong moments. A new dawn
Ariel felt as if she had taken a massive blow to her gut.She doubled over, the lights from the cameras suddenly blurring her vision. Was this really happening? Was Lutenant James, the same man she had rejected for Richard, now the supreme ruler? It was at that moment that Ariel recognized the beautiful woman who had introduced him onto the stage. It was the same woman she had seen at the restaurant with him a few days ago.“Before I say anything,” Lutenant’s voice boomed across the hall. It wasn't the voice of a loser. It was the voice of a confident man.“Before I say anything, I want to personally thank each and everyone of you for honouring the invitations my company sent out. I know that some of you don't want to be here, and for those of you who took out time from your busy schedule to even come down here, I can't thank you less.”For a moment, Ariel felt his eyes rest on her table, and her heart pounded in terror.A thousand questions plagued her mind.Had he invited her person
The unmasking
Ariel arrived at the corporation after an Uber dropped her off, hoping she looked her best.Being pregnant had suddenly made her overly conscious of her appearance. Having a child was a good thing, but Ariel wasn't sure she was ready for the changes her poor body was about to undergo. The parking lot housed a lot of cars, and it made her wonder if she wasn't the only one who had received the strange invite.Grabbing her phone from the purse slung over her shoulder, she tried calling Richard again. When his number went into voicemail again, she swore under her breath.Where was he this time and why wasn't he picking his calls? Was she actually ready to spend the rest of her life with this man?“Welcome to the James corporation, Ma'am. Tonight's dinner is strictly based on invitation. Did you receive one?”Nodding, she retrieved the envelope that had been addressed to her.The towering unsmiling guard grabbed it and passed it to the smiling woman in a dark blue suit who confirmed that h

Sir? They've started coming in.”Lutenant turned to Aurora, who had gone home to change into something more dinner worthy. Her dark blue midnight gown graced her feet perfectly, and the heels she wore slightly made her look taller than she originally was.Lutenant wanted nothing more than to kiss her.But first things first, the dinner.“Thank you, Aurora. How are you?”“Very good, sir. I'm hoping tonight is a success. You've looked forward to it for a long time now.”Lutenant nodded, turning to look at the window which overlooked the city.A few months ago, he was a man disrespected, a man on the brink of having his life wrenched from beneath him. But here he was, about to take over the city. And he wasn't just going to take over, he was going to do it in style.“Thank you, Aurora. You can go now. Get the people ready.”When the door closed behind her, Lutenant opened his drawer and retrieved the ring his father had specifically mailed to him whilst he was still trying to find his fe
