Jeremy sat with his mouth hanging low and brows furrowed, staring at the woman before him in confused shock. He wasn't sure he heard her right.
“I'm sorry, did you say marriage proposal?” He asked, dropping his glass of whiskey on the counter to be sure the drink was not the reason he was hearing things. “Precisely.” She said matter of fact. “Is this some kind of joke lady because I am not interested…” He snapped. He was the worst person to play a prank on today. He had had enough for just one day. “Do I look like the sort of woman to joke around?” She asked evenly, her voice not giving away a single intention. He searched her eyes, trying to make sense of what he had just heard, but he couldn't get anything from her. It was like staring at a brick wall, a gorgeous decorated wall. “I wouldn't know, I have no Idea who you are!” A soft sigh escaped her lips as she rolled her eyes at him. “I knew you wouldn't recognize me. I am Ariel, Ariel McDonald…” she said, like he was instantly supposed to know who the hell she was. He stared at her blankly. Was her name supposed to ring any bells? Because it didn't. The only bells ringing in his head were bells of alarm. She heaved a disappointed sigh when she realized he still had no idea who she was. Reaching into her bag, she pulled out an envelope and handed it over to him. He collected the envelope hesitantly and opened it to find a picture inside, he took it out and gasped when everything finally clicked. Jeremy glanced up at her and back at the picture again, flabbergasted by the remarkable change and difference after five years. It was amazing how she'd changed. She'd gotten rid of her braces and acne and from what he could see, was no longer the overly religious girl she once was as the pictures suggested. “Do you recognize me now?” She tilted her head in question. “I do, you have…” “Changed? Yeah, I get that lot.” She said, snatching the picture from his hand and shoving it back into her bag. “Now, what do you say about my proposal.” She turned around to face his, her expression much more serious than before. As he examined her even more, it was even more clear how much she had changed. From her clothes to her face to her mannerisms, the Ariel he knew from five years ago could not even look at someone in the eyes. “I'm… not sure what to say… I mean I'm flattered, but I'm not looking for a wife right now and even if I were, I still would want to get to know my wife first and not jump into marriage. I have too many troubles plaguing me to be thinking of marriage.” “What kind of troubles?" She asked a little too quickly. I watched her for a long before shrugging and speaking up again. “Well, I just got dismissed from my job, so I'm jobless. I just found out my girlfriend has been cheating on me with my ex-boss and my mother is in the hospital sick to an inch of her life, but the doctor refused to treat her any further until I brought the needed amount. He said rapidly. He was sure he sounded incredibly pathetic to her, but he didn't care, he was too intoxicated to mince his words. “I don't want your pity.” He said to her as an afterthought. He hated the idea of people feeling pity for me. “I'll pay.” She said, ignoring his statement. “You will pay what?” He asked with furrowed brows. “For your mom's medical expenses, you can come work under me or if you don't want that, I can buy you a business of your choice and your house and whatever else you'd need.” He blinked at her rapidly, not sure of what he was hearing. “Are you being serious?” He asked. “If you agree to marry me, all of what I've mentioned will be yours.” If he had heard right, she had just promised to pay my mother's medical bills, that was all he needed to hear to say yes, so why the hell was he hesitating? Maybe because it's weird for a woman you haven't seen and barely spoke to in high school is offering your hand in marriage. A tiny voice in his head supplied. “What do you say, Jeremy?” She pressed. He glanced up at her and nodded. “Okay.” “Good.” She said, and began to rummage through her bag. “Here's my card, you can reach me through the phone number. I want you to meet me at the town hall in two hours with your marriage permit.” He glanced down at the card and read out the name of the company…”McDonald Enterprise” and his eyes widened. She was apparently the owner of the biggest cosmetic company in the United States, he knew this because his girlfriend had taken him to one of her shows sometime this year. “Okay, I'll be there.” He glanced up at her. “Good.” “Don't you need my phone number to call me?” He asked after her. She just smiled and said, “Already do.” He watched as she walked out of the bar, both mesmerized by her and flabbergasted at what had just happened. He wasn't sure if he should jump for joy or be scared of what I had just agreed to, afterall this could just be a ploy to collect his innards and sell it to the black market, it wouldn’t be the first time a rich person did that. “You can still get out of it if you like,” that annoying voice in my head spoke. If he refused her offer now, that would mean he won't be able to pay his mother's Medical bills, which means she wouldn't get treated. His phone chimed, indicating that he had just gotten a notification. He picked up the device and opened the message icon. His eyes widened in shock as he read that he had just been credited with fifty thousand dollars.

Where does it hurt?”Jeremy asked, taking a seat close to her on the bed.“Both of my ankles are sprained. I don't think I can walk.” She answered, pressing her hands against the affected area.“Oh shit!” He cursed and tried to touch her legs, but she immediately flinched.“I'll call a doctor. Do you have a personal doctor?”“No.” She shook her head a little too quickly, as if he had mentioned something scary instead of a doctor.“No, you don't have a personal doctor?” He asked with furrowed brows.“No, don't call me a doctor, I'll be fine.” She answered without looking at him.“I shouldn't get you a doctor? But you are injured.” He exclaimed, confused as to why she didn't want a doctor. If both her ankles were sprained, then she most definitely needed a doctor.“It doesn't matter. I'm fine.” She said firmly. He nodded, confused, but her decision, but deciding to respect it all the same.He stood from her bed and went to investigate what had caused the fall, and he found a tube of gel

Rushing into the bathroom as fast as he could, he was worried that something might have happened to her, and immediately paused when he saw Ariel on the floor with nothing but a flimsy tiny towel wrapped around her body.He sucked in a breath at the unexpected but intoxicating image before him. He wasn't sure if it was appropriate to be staring the way he was right now, but that didn't stop him from standing there and blinking repeated at the sight. He was not sure what he should be doing at that point. Awe struck was an understatement to the effect her beauty had on him.Was it even appropriate to try to help her up? She was practically naked and God! She was beautiful. Her skin glowed brighter than the florescent lightning in the bathroom, and for a second, he wondered how she'd react if her towel came off.He could not take his eyes off her for several moments. He thought she was beautiful before but staring at her now with barely any clothes on, he wanted to claim her as his.He w

The more Jeremy knew about Ariel, the more questions he had about her. The woman was a walking question mark, and he wasn't sure if it was in a good way or in a bad way. Jeremy didn't exactly know a thing about her, and she didn't look like the type to answer questions that she didn't deem important to her cause or that weren't business related. She wasn't as rich as he had initially thought. She was way richer. In the contract that he had just signed, it stated that he would get an allowance of two hundred thousand dollars monthly and a monthly wardrobe change.Jeremy was no expert, but he was pretty sure anyone that could pay you two hundred thousand dollars a month was wealthy enough to buy the devil's soul. The contract also stated that they would be married for exactly five years and once those years were over, he’d get the mansion as his divorce settlement and a new car. There were also a few other laws he had to follow, like no family members allowed to stay with him in the man
Chapter 7
"It seems your mother didn't teach you how to speak to people above you,” Ariel spat. The look on Stephanie's face was first of shock and then of confusion, and then she gradually became furious.“How dare you?” She spat with blazing anger in her eyes as she glared at her.“How dare me? How dare a low life like you try to belittle my husband to be?”She tried to slap Ariel, but Ariel caught her hand in swift fashion before she could land. She attempted to slap her with her free hand but failed.“You are one very stubborn girl.” Ariel spat and in one swift movement, she put her in a headlock.“Refrain from attempting to perform any of your stupid acts on me, you will fall.” She said, close to her ear.Jeremy knew that this was an inappropriate time, but he had never been so turned on in my life.He watched as my ex-girlfriend struggled to get out of Ariel's hold.“I'll report you to the cops!” She shouted.“Are you sure you want to do that? Because I know all of your dirty little secre
Chapter 6
Jeremy stood outside the hospital waiting for Ariel to show up. His heart was beating wildly in his chest. Now that it was time, he was feeling a little nervous because why not?It was not everyday you get asked by a billionaire to marry you, and for a man, it was rarer. He wondered what their marriage arrangements would be like. Yes, he knew about the car and house, but that was not what he was concerned about for some reason, even though it would be great help for him and his family. He was more interested in their arrangement.Clearly it wasn't a proposal of love, at least he would rather not think so, He barely knew the chick, they'd gone to the same high school together, but that was it. They'd barely said a hundred words to each other all through high school, so it didn't make any sense for it to be.Was her family pressuring her for marriage? That seemed to be the only reasonable answer, but she wasn't that old, she was maybe in her late twenties. There was still plenty of time
Chapter 5
Ariel got home around two hours after she had proposed to Jeremy in the bar.How weird, proposed… like it was some kind of business transaction. It was, of course, but marriage and business felt odd in the same sentence. When she saw him again, he'd looked just the same only more handsome and maybe just a bit buffer, okay perhaps not the same, but he definitely had not aged much. He still had the same boyish grin that made most girls drool over him, and for some reason it annoyed her. She had no Idea why, but it had.“Maybe you still have a crush on him!” That persistent inner voice spoke. He was the perfect candidate to be her husband and when she had seen him working for Twain a few weeks ago, she had immediately wanted him, not sexually anyway or emotionally. Just that he fitted the aesthetics she was looking for. Besides, she had found out from Twain that he had intended to fire him soon and when she had asked why, he had told her it was because he wanted his girlfriend all to him
