It didn't take Him long to leave the bar and head straight to the registry to get his marriage permit.

It was relatively easier than he thought, but he had a feeling it was because of Ariel's influence.

He still couldn't believe she'd transferred fifty thousand dollars to him just like that.

He wasn't even married to her yet, for all she knew he could easily just disappear with the money. After all, fifty thousand dollars was more than enough to pay the rest of my mother's medical bills with a boat load of change.

“But you won't though, her deal was too good for you to pass up.” He ignored the words of his inner voice, even though he knew it was right.

Her offer was way too good to refuse, maybe a little too good, which brought numerous questions to his mind, like why she was doing this.

She was beautiful, so it shouldn't have been hard for her to meet men. None of it made sense to him, but he wasn't going to question a miracle, at least not right now, his only priority now was his mother.

Jeremy stopped his barely functioning Honda car in the parking lot of the hospital his mother was currently at and rushed inside.

He immediately paid for the medical expenses.

“Hey mom.” He hugged her as soon as he got close to her.

“How are you feeling?” He asked, pulling away from her.

“She's doing better than yesterday.” His sister, Naomi, said behind him.

“Here's your water, mom.” She handed their mom a glass of water before coming to hug him.

“How are you?” She asked, her voice soft as she looked up at him.

“I'm fine. How are you and Mom holding up?”

“Good actually, I just met the doctor in the hallway. Said you paid all the medical bills.”

“Yes.” He nodded, stroking his mother's hair. She was still a bit weak, but there was nothing a good rest couldn't fix.

“How in the world did you manage that on such short notice?”

“Does it really matter?”

“Yes it does, where did you get thirty-five thousand dollars to pay mom's medical bills? “

He phone rang just then, saving him from answering any further questions from his sister. He picked up the phone without looking at the ID.

“Hey baby.” My girlfriend's voice poured through the phone. There was a time that her voice was all he needed to function, but now they felt like needles and nails pricking his ears.

“What is it?” He said as civilly as he could in front of his mother and sister.

“Well that's a rude way to greet the love of your life.” She said in a pouty tone.

“I'm sorry, how are you?”

“Not so great, baby. I'm in the mall right now, and I'm short on cash, could you maybe send me $500?" She said in a flirty tone that was annoying rather than arousing.

“Are you crazy?” He asked out of anger, completely forgetting about the presence of both his mother and sister, who were now staring at him curiously.

“Baby that's rude! Why are you speaking to me like that?” The more she spoke, the more annoyed he got.

He was so pissed, he didn't think to dignify her with a response. He immediately hung up.

He was so irritated and annoyed by her. She knew the tight corner he was in, especially with his mother's hospital bills, yet she was more concerned about her clothes.

He went back to talking to his sister, and she explained to him what had been going on with her health. The doctor had already briefed me before now.

“What about you, how are you taking all of this?” He asked, worried about her. She'd been looking after their mom almost twice as much as he was. He had been too busy trying to find the money to pay for all the bills, since their insurance barely covered anything.

“I'm… alright.” He knew instantly from her hesitation that she was lying for his sake or at least not telling the complete truth and he wanted to comfort her, but the look in her eyes told him she needed everything but comfort. She needed to rest and go to college and be just a normal nineteen-year-old.

That was why he knew he had to take this deal. If he was going to get his family out of the slum life, he had to latch on to this opportunity, no matter how good it might be.

“Have you had anything to eat?”

“Yeah, I got snacks from the vending machine earlier.”

“That's not food, bro!” He scolded her.

“Yeah, well, I'm not hungry.”

“Bullshit.” He glared, tired of having to beg her to eat something.

She shrugged like it wasn't a big deal.

“You are being dramatic, I just forgot to eat.”

He blinked at her ridiculous statement before letting out a sigh. “How did you even forget to eat? You know what? Don't answer that. I'm going to go get you something to eat.” He said and stood to leave.

“Be right back mom,” He kissed her forehead and left. He was about to get in his car when he saw Stephanie, his girlfriend, walking towards him.

'Boo bear!” She called out to him as she walked faster towards him. He waited patiently until she got to him with zero expression on his face.

She kissed him on the lips, but he didn't move. He couldn't at that point.

“What are you doing here?* He asked.

“Well, I thought I'd come collect the money here instead.”

“What money?”

“The five hundred dollars I told you about on the phone, duh.”

“I'm sorry, but I don't have any money to give to you.”

“Then how the hell am I supposed to shop?”

“I don't know, maybe you could ask my boss, you know. The man you've been fucking behind my back for money.”

Her face widened in shock.

Where does it hurt?”Jeremy asked, taking a seat close to her on the bed.“Both of my ankles are sprained. I don't think I can walk.” She answered, pressing her hands against the affected area.“Oh shit!” He cursed and tried to touch her legs, but she immediately flinched.“I'll call a doctor. Do you have a personal doctor?”“No.” She shook her head a little too quickly, as if he had mentioned something scary instead of a doctor.“No, you don't have a personal doctor?” He asked with furrowed brows.“No, don't call me a doctor, I'll be fine.” She answered without looking at him.“I shouldn't get you a doctor? But you are injured.” He exclaimed, confused as to why she didn't want a doctor. If both her ankles were sprained, then she most definitely needed a doctor.“It doesn't matter. I'm fine.” She said firmly. He nodded, confused, but her decision, but deciding to respect it all the same.He stood from her bed and went to investigate what had caused the fall, and he found a tube of gel

Rushing into the bathroom as fast as he could, he was worried that something might have happened to her, and immediately paused when he saw Ariel on the floor with nothing but a flimsy tiny towel wrapped around her body.He sucked in a breath at the unexpected but intoxicating image before him. He wasn't sure if it was appropriate to be staring the way he was right now, but that didn't stop him from standing there and blinking repeated at the sight. He was not sure what he should be doing at that point. Awe struck was an understatement to the effect her beauty had on him.Was it even appropriate to try to help her up? She was practically naked and God! She was beautiful. Her skin glowed brighter than the florescent lightning in the bathroom, and for a second, he wondered how she'd react if her towel came off.He could not take his eyes off her for several moments. He thought she was beautiful before but staring at her now with barely any clothes on, he wanted to claim her as his.He w

The more Jeremy knew about Ariel, the more questions he had about her. The woman was a walking question mark, and he wasn't sure if it was in a good way or in a bad way. Jeremy didn't exactly know a thing about her, and she didn't look like the type to answer questions that she didn't deem important to her cause or that weren't business related. She wasn't as rich as he had initially thought. She was way richer. In the contract that he had just signed, it stated that he would get an allowance of two hundred thousand dollars monthly and a monthly wardrobe change.Jeremy was no expert, but he was pretty sure anyone that could pay you two hundred thousand dollars a month was wealthy enough to buy the devil's soul. The contract also stated that they would be married for exactly five years and once those years were over, he’d get the mansion as his divorce settlement and a new car. There were also a few other laws he had to follow, like no family members allowed to stay with him in the man

"It seems your mother didn't teach you how to speak to people above you,” Ariel spat. The look on Stephanie's face was first of shock and then of confusion, and then she gradually became furious.“How dare you?” She spat with blazing anger in her eyes as she glared at her.“How dare me? How dare a low life like you try to belittle my husband to be?”She tried to slap Ariel, but Ariel caught her hand in swift fashion before she could land. She attempted to slap her with her free hand but failed.“You are one very stubborn girl.” Ariel spat and in one swift movement, she put her in a headlock.“Refrain from attempting to perform any of your stupid acts on me, you will fall.” She said, close to her ear.Jeremy knew that this was an inappropriate time, but he had never been so turned on in my life.He watched as my ex-girlfriend struggled to get out of Ariel's hold.“I'll report you to the cops!” She shouted.“Are you sure you want to do that? Because I know all of your dirty little secre

  • Chapter 6

Jeremy stood outside the hospital waiting for Ariel to show up. His heart was beating wildly in his chest. Now that it was time, he was feeling a little nervous because why not?It was not everyday you get asked by a billionaire to marry you, and for a man, it was rarer. He wondered what their marriage arrangements would be like. Yes, he knew about the car and house, but that was not what he was concerned about for some reason, even though it would be great help for him and his family. He was more interested in their arrangement.Clearly it wasn't a proposal of love, at least he would rather not think so, He barely knew the chick, they'd gone to the same high school together, but that was it. They'd barely said a hundred words to each other all through high school, so it didn't make any sense for it to be.Was her family pressuring her for marriage? That seemed to be the only reasonable answer, but she wasn't that old, she was maybe in her late twenties. There was still plenty of time

  • Chapter 5

Ariel got home around two hours after she had proposed to Jeremy in the bar.How weird, proposed… like it was some kind of business transaction. It was, of course, but marriage and business felt odd in the same sentence. When she saw him again, he'd looked just the same only more handsome and maybe just a bit buffer, okay perhaps not the same, but he definitely had not aged much. He still had the same boyish grin that made most girls drool over him, and for some reason it annoyed her. She had no Idea why, but it had.“Maybe you still have a crush on him!” That persistent inner voice spoke. He was the perfect candidate to be her husband and when she had seen him working for Twain a few weeks ago, she had immediately wanted him, not sexually anyway or emotionally. Just that he fitted the aesthetics she was looking for. Besides, she had found out from Twain that he had intended to fire him soon and when she had asked why, he had told her it was because he wanted his girlfriend all to him
