Alvin's body was floating on the cold lake in the middle of the city. The normally busy street only had a few cars passing along the road by that time of the night. He was too weak to open his eyes or ask for help. He just lay there, awaiting death. All of a sudden, a huge siren blared in his mind, waking him up from the coma he fell into after being beaten to a deplorable state.

[Host found, initiating the septillionaire's superstar system. Do you accept or reject?]

The exhausted Anthony couldn't answer…he felt his eyes drooping again as he sank deeper into the water.

“Wake up! The moment you sleep, you die. Don't you want to live and take revenge for all Sonya put you through in these past few months? Keep your eyes open no matter what happens. Do you want the system or not? If you say yes, you will have access to unlimited wealth, supernatural abilities, and anything you can imagine. You will become the most famous superstar, a strong warrior, and the richest man around. In exchange, you will go on missions for the system to earn contribution points.” The voice said again.

Alvin sighed, unable to move any part of his body.

“I must have gone delirious from the pain, making me hallucinate. Is this how I die?”

“Accept the system so that I can save your life. Hurry up, otherwise I will go find another host.”

“Accept,” Alvin muttered, even if he was hallucinating, there was no harm in trial.

At once, a bright light wrapped around him like a cocoon and brought him out of the water, placing him on the shore.

“Merging with the host, 10%, 50%, 70%, 100%. Fusion successfully completed.” The pleasant female voice said, followed by a low ding.

“Congratulations, master. The septillionaire's superstar system is now yours and eight million dollars has been deposited into your account as a welcome bonus. Also, the ultimate revival elixir has been added to your cart. Do you want to utilize them now?”

“Ultimate revival elixir? Can it heal me? Please fuse it right away.” Alvin whispered with great difficulty.

A blue screen appeared before him with numerous sections outlined on it, including weaponry, a store, a pharmacy, and a library. However, his eyes were fixed on the section marked ‘available for cash out’. Without waiting for the system's guidance, he pressed the cash-out button beneath the elixir, and a little jade bottle appeared in his hands. Alvin quickly swallowed the entire content, ignoring the mind-splitting pain from his numerous wounds and broken bones.

Alvin suddenly screamed in pain.

The moment the elixir entered his body, it began to spread fire from the pit of his belly to other parts of his body.

He was on fire…literally as if he was thrown into a volcanic lake. Sweat poured out of his body and he felt the flames flowing through his veins.

“Master, your body is being forged into a new and stronger one. Endure the pain.”

After some time, a warm, golden light covered him and he sighed in relief. Soon, the wounds on his body sealed up, and he felt a warm energy around the areas with broken bones as it fixed itself. The process continued for ten minutes till his entire body was encased with the warm energy.

The pain in his body slowly disappeared and the patches of blood on the surface of his skin peeled off to review a white and spotless skin. Even his physique improved, making his muscle mass increase.

“First-level body forging completed. Analysing the host 1% 10% 30% 60% 80% 100%”

"Name: Alvin Kent

Age: 22 years

Race: Human

Nationality: Amerian

Strength: 12 points (very weak)

Agility: 15 points (pitifully weak)

Intelligence: 50 points(considered a genius by Earth's standards, but he's just average)

Vitality: 40 points

Memory: 60 points

Prestige: 0 points

Skills: singer and composer.”

Alvin frowned as he listened to the system's analysis. Was the system looking down on him? What's up with the ‘pitifully weak and just average’ analysis?

“Do you wish to purchase anything using the reward money from the system?”

“I need a house, some food, and a mobile phone.” Alvin quickly replied without giving it much thought.

“Master, may I suggest you leave the house till tomorrow? After your first mission, the reward money will multiply and you will have enough to purchase a mighty villa. Why don't you find a hotel for now? If you buy a house with the current balance, it won't be that big. What do you want to do?”

Alvin’s brows furrowed in deep thought as he weighed the options before him.

“Can I go on the mission now? I no longer feel sick. I feel even stronger than my usual self.”

“That's also possible. You can check the current mission tab.”

The blue screen appeared before him and the words ‘MISSION TAB’ were written boldly on top.

Level 1, choose the preferred degree: Easy, intermediate, hard.

“Mmm, can you explain more to me about the things on the screen?”

“You're currently in level 1 since you have not unlocked any skills or battle abilities. Level 1 is the beginner tier level, as you go forth and improve, the level will also increase. Now, the degree of difficulty is graded from easy to hard. In the future, two more degrees will be added, profound and life-threatening. Naturally, the reward for completing each mission varies according to the level of difficulty. The harder the degree of a particular mission chosen, the greater the reward.” The system patiently explained.

“Those ones marked as profound and life-threatening, does it mean that the chances of getting hurt are high?” Alvin asked, watching the screen fervently.

“What do you mean by getting hurt? If it was merely getting hurt, then it would be graded as hard. The system chose you because, in the future, there's a calamity you are destined to avert. There's a septillion dollars to be won, and more keeps flowing in every day: unlimited wealth and power. But nothing in this world is free; the system’s gifts are not totally free, and you will be required to do certain things. But rest assured that it won't go against morality and civil ethics.”

Alvin kept nodding as if he understood everything.

“Now, to answer your question, profound means the mission involves lots of technical difficulties that need wisdom, resilience, and exceptional strength to overcome, and the chances of success are 40%. Then, the life-threatening level means that it's very dangerous,, and only by creating a miracle can you succeed. The chances of success are between 15% to 5%, and even then, coming out unscathed will be a miracle. Furthermore, there's also a special platinum-level mission for those who have reached the higher mission threshold. The chances of success in that category are between 4% to 0.5%.”

“What? Doesn't that mean that I might die during one of the higher-level missions?” Alvin asked, his eyes wide with incredulity.

“It's not too late to change your mind. Although you're the most suitable person, and the system has already fused with you, if you don't want it, it can move to another person since it's less than 24 hours. And you can also keep the elixir. That is, you will remain healthy and not return to the state I found you in the lake. But the eight million dollars will be taken back and you will lose your chance to take revenge and rise to the top. What do you want to do? Put your life on the line and become great, or live on in mediocrity?”

“I will take the chance. If I don't get powerful, anyone can kill me anytime. My life won't be safe either. I might as well go on the missions. Besides, the great disaster you speak about will probably not happen any time soon. And I can just choose to not go on those missions.”

“Mmm, you can't refuse a system mission. And each time you fail a mission, the rewards for the previous successful mission will be subtracted. For example, if you fail mission 9, the rewards from mission 8 will be taken back or slashed in half, depending on the reason for the mission failure. Also, there will come a time when you need to take on those categories. However, since the system chose you, it means you have the potential to become the greatest. Do you still want to go on?”

“Yes, of course, complete the process. I won't change my mind in the future, as long as the system keeps its own end of the bargain.”

“Good. Final fusion has been completed.”

Alvin smiled and tried to tap on the virtual monitor, giddy with excitement. The monitor suddenly started to blink red lights, becoming unstable.

“Emergency! Emergency! System mission, accept now.”

“What the hell? Didn't you just say that I have not qualified for such difficult and life-threatening missions? Why are you already sending me on special missions?” Alvin shouted, his eyes wide with disbelief and unwillingness. He had not even learned any skill that could help him protect himself. Does this mean that he would die before he had a chance to enjoy the money?

A girl of nineteen is about to take her life, save her at all costs!” “Sechon? Sechon is at least twelve minutes away, and you tell me that I have only ten minutes?” Alvin whispered, his eyes wide with incredulity. “You have to find a way to get there before she falls to her death, nine minutes left.” The system's pleasant voice rang out again. However, this time it was anything but pleasant to Alvin. It felt more like the shing of the executor’s blades. He quickly broke into a run, making his way to the major road. His left hand grabbed a hold of her clothes at the shoulder area, while his right hand grabbed the lower part of the rail. “Two seconds.” The system added, making him more anxious. “Done!” Alvin muttered holding the girl tightly as he gasped, breathing fast. The girl screamed and opened her eyes, noticing that someone was holding her. She looked down and immediately screamed in terror. She was hanging mid air and immediately noticed the distance to the ground the moment she looked down. “Don't scream. Ah! How can someone small be so heavy?” Alvin snapped and groaned in pain. “Who are you? Let me go.” The girl shouted, struggling. Alvin gritted his teeth with both of his hands aching terribly. Blood was already seeping out from his palm which was grasping the broken iron rail. “If I let you go, what are you going to do? Fall to your death? And please stop struggling, are you trying to take me with you? I just e

His frown deepened as he realized that he had forgotten to remove his helmet while rushing to rescue the girl. “No wonder it was so hot and stuffy.” He muttered and removed it. Alvin instinctively wanted to refute her, but on second thought, he kept quiet and allowed her to continue. “My family went bankrupt last week. My dad was accused of tax evasion and industrial fraud. And my elder brother who was a top ranking army official was framed for treason and leaking top classified national secrets to the enemy. And he was killed according to martial law, ignoring his years of contributions to society. When they sent us his corpse, mom had a heart attack at the spot, and I rushed her to the hospital, but she couldn't make it. I lost my brother, my only sibling, just a few hours before mom followed him. But that was still bearable. At least, I had someone to hold me up, or so I thought. Instead of earning your parents forgiveness by making amends, you want to die and disappoint them even more while the enemy lives on in happiness and comfort. He was in a very good mood, none of his previous sourness could be seen on his face. Money truly answereth all things. He heard a low buzzing sound in his head and a black card appeared in his hand. His name and QR code was printed in gold on the card. Alvin had experienced first hand about how powerful, talented and insanely talented the medicine sage valley’s disciples were on this mission. Just fourteen of them could impress him. How about their more than a hundred disciples present back in the valley? And he also never experienced their true skills and the level of their expertise because Murong Wuque did all the hard work, letting them act leisurely. He had not seen them fight with the smell of death clinging to their skins. All through the missions, each person used their individual skills either bestowed by their masters or gotten from their families before they joined the valley, showing how powerful their backgrounds were. Those kinds of people were definitely no pushovers, the valley was extremely selective when accepting disciples. In addition, none of them used their strongest weapons—poison. The disciples of the valley were notorious for poisoning opponents to death in dire situations. They didn't use it this time be

They had not landed yet when they realized that something was wrong. Murong Wuque slowed down and tightened his arm around Alvin, looking down at the previous camp. Although they had loosened some of the tents and taken the important stuff, including supplies, they left some tents behind to make it easy for the servants to serve dinner because they were sure to be exhausted when they returned. But right now, everywhere was eerily quiet. Even the horses tethered to trees were gone. No, on a closer look, they were not gone nor stolen, they were killed in a brutal massacre. Alvin's eyes narrowed in a deep frown, he had also noticed the same thing, making him look down. Dead bodies of servants and vagrant cultivators initially meant to accompany them were littered on the ground, their corpses brutalized in a bone chilling manner. The bodies even changed colors, as if someone used an evil art to suck them dry. They immediately landed, and Yang Yang rushed to examine the corpses. Chu

Alvin brought out two cartons of bottled water and four loaves of bread. “These are supplies I brought along. The water is twenty cans, enough for everyone to take one. As for the bread, maybe four people should share one.” Feng quickly tore open the cans of water and shared it. It was the big size containing 150cl. So it was enough for everyone to wash their hands and faces, drink, and still have more. “I haven't seen this kind of vessel for storing water in the past. And the water is cold and refreshing.” A red haired girl who didn't talk much said, making everyone nod in agreement. “It's from my place. It's not available in this part.” Alvin whispered, and gulped down the water he got. There were still four cans of water remaining on the ground. “If four people share one loaf, then the last will be shared by three people since we're only fifteen.” “Then the youngest should take two parts. The baby of the house should always get the biggest share of food.” Alvin said no

He saw the climbing rope he gave them to go up, dangling around, making him frown. “Did they forget to cut the rope? Common sense should tell them that if they want me to be completely trapped, the rope must be cut.” He walked to the rope and pulled it, noticing that it was sturdy, probably still tied to the tree. Particles of sand began to fall, and a white fist appeared beside the rope, trying to punch a hole through. “Fellow cultivator, if you're out, grab the rope, I'm exhausted.” He heard Murong Wuque shout as he punched out an additional hole, making it wide enough for someone's head to pass through. Alvin frowned, feeling confused. Didn't they abandon him? Why did they change th

She smiled through her tears and took a deep breath. “Yan'er, go well. Do you want me to come along?” He shook his head, his eyes filled with sadness. “I love you, but you can't follow me. Live well here, keep me in your heart, but don't be burdened. If you meet a man that treats you as good as I did, you can follow him and live happily. I will be jealous, but what I want the most is to see you live well, healthy and happy: the things I promised you but failed to do. All my life, I prided myself on keeping all my promises. This was the first time she was seeing his corpse since Murong Wuque prevented the girls from coming to see him till he got dressed. “Ah…oh…mmm…” She kept groaning and gasping, unable to form coherent words. She reached for his face, caressing him as she wept. “Yan'er…aaaa… mmm… . Please… no.. Oh… ah… ah… ah.. Murong Wuque signalled everyone to face the floor and give them the privacy to say their final goodbyes. She kissed his ice cold knuckles, bathing him in her tears as she hugged him, crying bitterly. For fifteen minutes, the girls sang various farewell songs while waiting for her to finish crying. She looked at him attentively, and ran her hands over his body and felt his pulse, each false hope she gave herself about reviving him dashing harder than

“Of course not, I have lots of people with me. And our place is quite huge. Let's just say I'm the current clan master of my clan.” Alvin said with a nonchalant smile, as if he didn't think much of it. However, his words made everyone go silent as they all had the same thought. If he was the current clan master despite his young age, it was truly easy to guess what happened to his family. His family must have been exterminated by an enemy, and he was among the people smuggled out to safety. After his parents died and his clan fell, he did either of two things. One, cultivated crazily till he got strong enough to take revenge and return to their original clan to rebuild it. Two, using the scarce resources available to him he found a new settlement for his clan and moved there with the survivors. That must be the reason he cultivated crazily to get stronger, and had a mature aura like their first brother. It was because he had lots of burden on his shoulders, bearing the task of

How did our first brother get a hold of this box that is used to store ancient treasures?” Murong Wuque carefully placed the box into the bigger one, and placed a seal on it, quickly sending it into his storage ring. “Then I have to thank you for being generous.” “Why are you thanking me?
