The sky broke as a sudden, suffocating pressure slammed into the valley.

An ancient battlefield lay beneath it a vast crater carved into the earth, its ground split with radiating scars of past devastation. Around it stood petrified, twisted trees like silent sentinels of a forgotten war. The air was still and heavy, filled with dust, broken stone, and lingering killing intent.

Within it, the disciples of the Heavenly Accord Sect stood in coordinated formation, robes of white and jade rippling under the crushing pressure, weapons drawn and auras aligned.

Li Tian did not just fold his arms. He looked up, his ash-grey robes whipping in the rising wind and his face framed by loose ink-White hair.

Above the battlefield hovered Tang Xiu, Second-Rank Elder of the Heavenly Accord Sect. Resplendent in white and gold robe, he looked down at Li Tian with absolute resolve.

"I hope the accounts of your strength are not exaggerated, Li Tian," Tang Xiu's voice rolled across the valley.

Li Tian held his gaze as he stared at Tang Xiu

"I didn't expect him to be here for the Chaos heart also", he thought quietly.

Suddenly, the air on the ridge tore open with a rift of pure hungry blackness splitting the valley. The rift widened, and Xiao Feng stepped through, his presence jagged weight against the skyline. The disciples nearest him didn't scream. They simply pressed their foreheads to the stone in silence. Xiao Feng, the highest-ranked elder of the Heavenly Accord Sect, carved by centuries of war, fixed his deep gaze on Li Tian.

"You carry the Chaos Heart. Surrender it, and I guarantee your safe passage under the Accord."

Xiao Feng's aura pressed down like a physical weight, drawing blood from the corner of Li Tian’s mouth.

He didn't wipe it away. He looked past the elder to the third man at the crater's edge. His voice came out quieter than he intended.

“…Mo Yun…?”

Li Tian’s voice broke, and his eyes widened in pure shock.

They had bled together, starved together, and survived eleven winters side by side in the Heavenly Accord Sect. They were once the sect’s brightest and most inseparable pair. But now, that bond lingered like an unbroken thread between them as Mo Yun stood in the violet sash of the Heavenly Accord Sect, his jaw tight with forced composure, as if betraying Li Tian was the hardest wound he had ever endured.

Mo Yun looked away, his voice stiff. "The ancient heart can't remain with you. I did what was necessary for the sake of the sect."

A great silence fell across the crater. Tang Xiu raised a hand. "We are not your enemies, Li Tian. If the one who possesses the heart is too weak to control it, he can go berserk, killing many people. We are asking you to surrender the heart now because you aren't strong enough to control it."

Li Tian looked at the two sect elders, then at Mo Yun, and finally at the ring of peak disciples surrounding him. A harsh, exhausted smile touched his lips.

“…heh…”

"I didn't know the elders of the Heavenly Accord Sect were this shameless, bringing all the sect disciples to fight one man just to steal the chaos heart." Li Tian let the silence stretch. "And not one of you has moved."

Mo Yun flinched. "You are surrounded."

Li Tian wiped the blood from his chin has he locked eyes with Mo Yun, then Xiao Feng, and finally Tang Xiu.

Immediately, thousands of elite disciples from the Heavenly Accord Sect moved in perfect, lethal synchronicity. They were not merely observers; they were the teeth of the trap.

STOMP!!!

Thousands of boots hit the shattered stone in unison, a rhythmic thunder that shook the marrow of Li Tian’s bones as they prepared to form a barrier around him.

Heaven Locking Barrier

From the palms of the assembled disciples, pillars of jade-colored light erupted, lacing together in the sky to form a massive, shimmering dome. It was a conceptual seal, a cage designed to isolate a single point in space and time. Within its walls, the natural flow of spiritual energy was strangled.

HUMMMMM.

The frequency of the barrier made Li Tian’s teeth ache, and the Chaos Heart in his chest thrummed with a low, rhythmic growl has his body started getting more hotter. Li Tian gritted his teeth.

"The cage is set!" Mo yun roared. "Advance!"

The disciples surged forward like a tide of steel and jade light. Li Tian didn't wait, he leaned into a sprint and the ground explode beneath his boots.

Flash-Step Rupture.

BOOM!!!!

He disappeared like a blur of ash-grey fabric and reappeared in the center of the Heavenly Accord Sect's formation.

Mountain Crushing Fist: Earth-Shaker.

Li Tian slammed his fist into the ground.

KABOOM!

A shockwave of raw pressurized qi ripped through the soil, erupting beneath the disciples' feet and Men were launched into the air, their jade shields shattering. The back ranks adjusted immediately.

"Archers, release!" a voice commanded.

Rain of Ten Thousand Piercing Stars.

Hundreds of spiritual bows were drawn in a single motion. The sky vanished behind a curtain of glowing violet arrows, each one whistling with the weight of a falling comet.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!!!

Li Tian’s eyes tracked the projectiles. He spun, his coat whipping around him as a calm silver aura spread through his body, forming faint, glass-like layers in the air around him. The space subtly distorted, as if invisible mirrors were wrapping around his form.

Divine Mirror Flow.

The arrows struck the invisible mirror barrier, freezing for a fraction of a second. The energy twisted and turned the arrows back in the opposite direction.

CRACK. SHATTER. SCREAM.

The valley floor becomes a chaotic mess of blood and broken jade. The two Sect Elders, along with Mo Yun, could no longer stand by and watch.

"Enough of this play," Tang Xiu commanded. He descended from the sky, his golden robes snapping behind him as his two hands began to glow violently.

Heavens-Falling Palm.

A massive, glowing hand of golden energy, fifty feet wide, slammed down toward Li Tian.

WHAM!!!

Li Tian crossed his arms, his feet sinking two feet into the solid rock. The pressure was immense and his muscles groaned, the fibers tearing under the weight.

Mo Yun materialized in his blind spot, his violet blade humming with high-frequency lightning.

Twin Dragon Strike.

Two jagged bolts of purple electricity lunged for Li Tian’s ribs. Li Tian twisted mid-air, barely avoiding a decapitation, but the lightning grazed his side.

ZAP!

The smell of scorched flesh filled the air. Li Tian gasped has his internal rhythm faltering. That was the opening Xiao Feng had been waiting for. The elder stepped forward, his hand curled into a claw.

Void Tearing Claw.

A localized rift of absolute darkness snapped shut around Li Tian’s legs.

CRUNCH.

The sound of snapping bone echoed through the crater. Li Tian screamed, a raw, guttural sound, as he was yanked toward the ground. Before he could recover, Tang Xiu’s golden palm followed through, slamming into his chest.

KABOOM!!!

Li Tian was sent flying and he skipped across the valley floor like a stone, smashing through three petrified trees before his body slammed into the sheer cliff face of the valley wall.

THUD.

He was buried thirty feet deep into the rock.

The silence that followed was heavy with the scent of ozone and dust. Inside the rock, Li Tian lay in darkness. His left leg was a mess of splintered bone. His chest felt like it had been crushed by a falling mountain. Every breath brought a gout of thick blood.

"No," Li Tian wheezed, his fingers clawing at the stone. "Not... like this."

He pushed himself out of the debris. He fell to one knee, coughing, his white hair plastered to his forehead with sweat and blood.

Suddenly, at the crater's edge, the smoke began to move against the wind, and the temperature dropped sharply.

  • Li clan spirit trial

The Spirit Trial Li Tian walked toward the crowded courtyard, watching the disciples gather near the Spirit testing ground gate like iron shavings pulled toward a lodestone. He tapped the shoulder of a younger boy at the edge of the group. "What is happening here today?" The disciple turned, his face tightening with instant disappointment. Li Tian offered a hollow laugh, scratching the back of his neck as the boy walked away, muttering under his breath. So this is the clan Spirit Trial. Fragments of memory from the original owner of this body clicked into place. The veins along his temple pulsed, and his cultivation aura leaked out, making the air around him heavy and stagnant. "A boy who cannot even protect himself." He pointed a thick, trembling finger toward the head of the table. "You would shackle our clan's face our own blood to that wretch?" Ye Feng did not flinch. He sat perfectly still, hands folded on the table. His eyes carried a stubborn resolve. "Before Li Cheng's cultivation was crippled, he saved my life," Ye Feng said, his voice level. "I would not be sitting in this hall today if not for him. I made a promise. My daughter goes to his son." Silence hit the room, tense and brief. Ye Qiang stood, his chair scraping lou
