Chapter 8

Jack's car was now nothing more than a pile of scrap. The crash had rendered it completely obsolete. All the members gathered around, curious to see the accident.

Max stumbled out of his car, holding his head. He was dizzy and had a hard time standing up.

"Are you okay?" Hillary asked, very concerned.

She held Max with her arms and helped him sit down.

As for Jack, he quickly approached to see how his car had fared. He didn’t really care about the vehicle. He could buy another one if he wanted.

What bothered him was the malicious intent behind the act. It was clear they had done it on purpose.

"Are you worried about your car?" Hillary snapped at her boyfriend.

"Look what they've done to my Lamborghini!" Jack shouted, extending his arms.

"You’re unbelievable. Max needs our help, and you’re only worried about a car."

Jack was very angry. He clenched his fists in rage. The Walton brothers had spent their entire lives humiliating people, and Jack was their favorite victim.

"He doesn’t need help. He’s just pretending. He’s an accomplice of Ricco and Theo," Jack said.

"It was an accident," Hillary insisted.

However, Jack ignored her and left to continue with his work.

At that moment, Ricco and Theo returned to the scene of the accident. They tried to fake astonishment, but laughter overtook them, and they ended up laughing shamelessly while looking at Jack's car, totally destroyed.

"Stop laughing and help me with Max," said Hillary.

But Max miraculously recovered and stood up.

"Don’t worry, Hillary. I’m feeling better now," said Max.

Hillary stood there staring at him with raised eyebrows.

"You were dizzy a second ago," Hillary questioned.

"Miracle!" Max shouted, bursting into laughter while mockingly shaking hands with Ricco and Theo.

Jack was convinced his day couldn’t get any worse, but he was wrong. Things can always get worse when it comes to wealthy people.

He lifted his gaze and noticed that his mother-in-law was approaching him quickly, accompanied by Ricco, Theo, Hillary, and Max.

"You’re doing it wrong! The whole lawn is poorly cut!" shouted Amaranta Lombardini.

Mrs. Lombardini grabbed a handful of grass that Jack had cut and threw it in his face in an offensive and humiliating manner.

"Mrs. Amaranta, I..." Jack tried to explain, but Mrs. Lombardini quickly interrupted him.

"Shut up! You’re useless. You never do anything right, and you’ll never be part of this family," said Amaranta Lombardini.

The grass was perfectly cut, but Amaranta Lombardini just wanted to vent her anger on Jack. She hated seeing a poor person enter the club for teenage millionaires. That was an offense to her.

"Theo and Ricco asked me for a favor. The gardener didn’t show up for work today, and they wanted to play golf," Jack explained quickly to avoid being interrupted again.

"Is that true?" Amaranta Lombardini turned and asked the boys.

"It’s completely false, Mrs. Lombardini," Theo said, pretending to be offended.

"We would never do something like that without consulting you first," Ricco confessed.

"It’s true, Mrs. Lombardini. Jack is lying," Max added.

Jack stared at Hillary. She was his only hope. Maybe all these young millionaires were against him and dedicated to humiliating him, but his girlfriend would never turn her back on him.

"What do you say, Hillary?" Mrs. Amaranta asked.

Hillary stared at Jack for a moment, then said:

"The boys are telling the truth, Mom. No one asked Jack to mow the lawn. He did it because he wanted to," Hillary said, betraying Jack once again.

Jack closed his eyes. He could almost feel his heart breaking into a thousand pieces. Once again, his girlfriend had cruelly betrayed him.

"That’s it. Get out immediately. I never want to see you in this club again," Mrs. Lombardini ordered.

"I’m waiting for the tow truck to take the remains of my car," Jack explained.

"Oh... Damn. In that case, wait over there. Far away from my sight. Somewhere I can't see you," Amaranta said.

"Yes, Mrs. Lombardini," Jack lowered his gaze and walked away slowly.

He tried to look at Hillary's face one more time, but she was looking the other way, pretending nothing was happening. Meanwhile, Max, Theo, and Ricco laughed behind Mrs. Amaranta's back. Mrs. Amaranta glared at him while pointing with her finger to the farthest corner of the club.

Jack entered a slightly abandoned sports field where club members rarely entered. In that place, he would be out of his mother-in-law’s sight.

There, he sat down and took the ring from his pocket. He held it between his fingers and watched it shine brightly.

It was then that he began to question whether it was all worth it. He was completely in love with Hillary. He was sure she was the love of his life, but she had made some very serious mistakes at times.

"Nice ring," a soft female voice was heard approaching him.

Jack quickly hid it in his pocket, fearing it was his girlfriend Hillary. But in reality, it was a girl named Eva, who worked at a business within the club.

Jack had seen her a couple of times, so he knew her a little. However, he had never exchanged a single word with her.

"What are you doing here? You should be attending the business," Jack said, trying to hide his sadness.

"Don’t worry. I’m on my free time," Eva said, sitting down next to Jack.

He just smiled and stayed silent. The situation was a bit awkward, and Jack just wanted to leave.

"I saw what happened to your car. I’m really sorry. I know those assholes did it on purpose," she said.

Just then, the screen appeared once again in front of Jack.

[ MILLIONAIRE NUMBER 2 OFFERS $1,000,000 FOR A KISS.

ACCEPT REJECT ]

Jack was surprised by the offer. It was a million dollars. An amount that every human on Earth has probably dreamed of at some point.

However, Jack was very clear about his stance. He would never be unfaithful to Hillary, not even for all the money in the world.

"I’m sorry, I have to go," Jack said as he stood up and walked away.

At the same time, he rejected the offer from millionaire number two, not caring about the punishment the system might impose.

He was willing to endure whatever came his way for the love he felt for Hillary.

The stench of rain and wet earth was as thick as the mourning in the air. Kloe lay on the floor of an old abandoned warehouse, curled up, her arms wrapped around her knees. Rain hammered the metal roof like a drum, each drop a sharp beat that only amplified the despair of the moment. The screen of her phone, shattered from the fall when she heard the news of her best friend’s death, lay beside her. Its last image was the announcement of Lix’s match. She didn’t need to see it. She felt her best friend’s absence like an open wound in her soul. Lix was gone. She had blown her brains out to avoid getting her hands dirty.“It’s pointless,” Kloe murmured, her voice barely a broken whisper. “It’s all a joke. A fucking joke. We’re going to die. All of us. No matter what we do.”A shadow loomed over her. The smell of cheap perfume and hot metal, the same scent Jack carried, wrapped around her. She looked up. There he was—her last friend in this hell. His eyes, deep and filled with cold determi

The following day arrived quickly over the city, where deceptively innocent people roamed the still-smoldering streets after the carnage unleashed between the men of Theo Walton and Jean Graham. Anyone who didn’t live there might have sworn it was a peaceful city. Yet the massacre had been total—a holocaust that left the area around Graham’s house like a twisted cemetery, with mutilated bodies that the police had only just begun to collect. In some cases, it was simply impossible to identify the dead due to their destroyed faces. However, in this city accustomed to horror, normalcy reestablished itself with surprising speed. No one dared to question. No one dared to point fingers. The Walton Mansion remained untouched. The police looked the other way. There were no investigations, no arrests, not even an official mention of the dozen burned armored vehicles or the bodies of elite bodyguards scattered across the asphalt. Theo Walton’s crime went unpunished—just another anecdote to whis

  • Chapter 146

The interior of Jean Graham's shattered bunker reeked of burnt gunpowder and molten metal. Morning light filtered through the cracks in the ceiling, revealing the chaos left by the battle. Graham, his clothes soaked in blood and his body lacerated, dragged himself back to his operations room. Every movement was agony—a price he was forced to pay in order to win a battle in the brutal war he had been thrown into. But a powerful survival instinct kept him going.Without hesitation, Graham threw himself onto a metal table, his eyes locked on the first aid kit. His bloodied hands, hardened by years of combat, pulled out a curved needle and thick thread. He stabbed the needle into his own flesh, beginning to stitch himself up, tugging at the torn skin. There were no groans, only a snort. Graham’s face was drenched in sweat and blood. Then he grabbed a syringe he had filled with a potent painkiller and injected it directly into his uninjured thigh, the cold liquid burning through his veins.

The roar of armored engines tore through the stillness of the city night. It wasn’t the usual sounds of a city in celebration, but a heavy, blood-chilling noise. From the highest windows, one could see the column of black vehicles emerging from the Walton Mansion—a caravan of armored trucks advancing down the avenues.Dozens of armored SUVs, each packed with heavily armed men, were an unmistakable sign. Theo Walton’s men were on the move.A chill swept through the streets. People who had just begun opening their night businesses or heading out to dance stopped cold. There was no need for screams or alarms. The entire city knew what this display meant. It was the march of death. Doors slammed shut, blinds dropped, and storefronts pulled down their heavy metal shutters with a crash. The few pedestrians scattered like ants, seeking refuge in alleyways, behind dumpsters, or simply flattening themselves against the walls, wishing to become invisible. They knew that when Walton’s private ar
