The moment the woman stepped inside, she noticed a strange man in the house. More importantly, there was something about him that immediately rubbed her the wrong way, and her expression turned guarded.

“Who are you?”

“He’s my brother-in-law’s old army buddy. His name is Andrew Allen,” Joan Hunt answered with a smile before Andrew even had the chance to speak.

“Hmph.”

The woman gave a cold snort and slowly sat down on the sofa.

There was an aloof, elegant air about her, like a wealthy society wife who was used to looking down on others. Unfortunately, the bits of grass and weeds still clinging to her clothes completely ruined the effect.

Andrew hated being looked at with that kind of disdain.

But the moment he remembered how flustered she had looked earlier, he couldn’t help smiling to himself.

“Why are you smiling?” Joan noticed it immediately. She had to admit that Andrew actually looked rather handsome when he smiled. “Did you think of something funny? Come on, share it with us.”

Andrew paused for a moment.

“I finally understand why they say women in their forties are at their most insatiable. It’s because…”

As he spoke, his eyes remained fixed on the woman sitting across from him.

Her expression stiffened slightly.

She immediately had the uncomfortable feeling that Andrew was talking about her.

Then she remembered the sudden noise from earlier.

There was no doubt about it.

It had been this bastard.

Joan burst out laughing.

About half an hour later, after Andrew had cleaned himself up properly, his strikingly handsome face was finally revealed.

Joan froze.

For a second, she stared at him like a lovestruck teenage girl.

“Andrew, I had no idea you were this handsome! You’re practically on Brad Pitt’s level. I think I’m starting to—”

“Ahem!”

The woman coughed loudly.

She had been around long enough to recognize that look in her daughter’s eyes.

Joan was clearly becoming far too interested in this man she had only just met.

The woman looked Andrew up and down.

“Do you have a car?”

“No.” Andrew shook his head.

“A house?”

“No.”

“Then what do you have?”

Andrew looked at her calmly.

“I have something that can keep a lonely woman company. Interested?”

The woman’s face instantly turned red.

Joan, on the other hand, looked completely confused.

“What is it? Can you show me?”

Andrew’s expression became awkward.

He shook his head helplessly.

Joan really was too innocent.

Her mother, however, was obviously another story.

...

The next day.

Andrew accompanied Bonnie Hunt as they buried his close friend.

He also told her what his friend had asked of him before he died.

Bonnie nodded and agreed to let Andrew work at her company.

Andrew, however, asked for a few days before starting.

There was still another fallen brother whose ashes he needed to bring home.

Meanwhile, at the police station.

“What do you mean you can’t find anything?”

Scarlett Spears glared angrily at the technician.

“How is that possible? Every citizen should have some kind of record. How can this guy have nothing?”

“I’m serious. Look for yourself. All we found was a photograph.”

Scarlett frowned.

“That doesn’t make any sense. Unless this guy…”

She thought for a moment, then took out her phone and made a call.

...

“I told you I’d take care of you, didn’t I? Stick with me and you’ll live the good life. I guarantee it!”

Suggestive sounds drifted out from a small two-story house.

Bang!

The bedroom door was suddenly kicked open.

A man stood in the doorway with an expressionless face.

He was extremely handsome, and in his arms was an urn.

“Ah!”

The woman inside screamed in shock.

She immediately threw herself into the arms of the man beside her.

Her clothes were messy, and it was obvious what had just been happening.

Even so, there was no denying that she was quite beautiful.

“Who the hell are you?!”

The man on the bed flew into a rage.

Then, a second later, he froze.

His eyes had landed on the photograph attached to the urn.

The man in that photograph was none other than the husband of the woman in his arms.

Then his shock turned into delight.

“Hahaha! He’s dead? God really is on my side!”

Andrew’s expression did not change.

The next instant, he moved.

Three minutes later.

Andrew walked out of the house carrying the urn.

He calmly adjusted his clothes and disappeared without a trace.

...

In one of Riverside City’s busiest commercial districts, a towering office building stood in the heart of downtown.

Judging from the scale of the headquarters alone, the company easily looked capable of generating billions in annual revenue.

“Ms. Hunt, those people are here making trouble again! And they brought even more men this time!”

A secretary rushed into the office in a panic.

Bonnie Hunt stood up with a cold expression.

“They’ve already come eight times this week. What the hell do they actually want? Have we found out who’s behind them?”

“Not yet. We still don’t have any solid leads. But considering how often they’ve been coming here, I suspect—”

“I understand.”

Bonnie rubbed her forehead helplessly.

The company’s business had only just started recovering when this group of thugs appeared out of nowhere.

Every few days, they invented some new excuse to cause trouble.

“Get your boss out here! If she doesn’t give us an explanation today, none of us are leaving!”

At that moment, a large group of men had already forced their way into the company.

The security guards might as well have been decorations.

They couldn’t stop them at all.

“What the hell are you people doing?”

Bonnie glared at the head of security.

“Who told you to let them in?”

The security captain looked helpless.

“There was nothing we could do. You know these guys—”

“Useless!”

Bonnie turned toward the intruders.

“Fine. Tell me what you want.”

“What do we want?”

The leader sneered.

“The noise from your factory is way too loud. It’s seriously affecting our daily lives. We’re not asking for much. One million dollars, and we’ll leave immediately.”

“What?”

Bonnie stared at him in disbelief.

“One million? Why don’t you just rob a bank?”

She knew exactly what kind of people these men were.

They were a bottomless pit.

Even if she gave them a million today, they would simply come back tomorrow and demand more.

“Well, if that’s your attitude, then we’ll just stay right here.”

The leader casually found himself a seat.

“We’ll wait until you pay.”

“You…”

Bonnie trembled with anger.

The timing could not have been worse.

She was preparing to negotiate an important business deal, and if these people kept causing a scene inside the company, it would undoubtedly interfere with everything.

“Ms. Hunt, think about it carefully,” the leader said with a faint smile. “If you actually do the math, paying us isn’t really that bad of a deal.”

“One million isn’t that much, Ms. Hunt. Why not just give it to them?”

A voice suddenly came from behind the crowd.

Everyone turned around.

A man dressed in ridiculously shabby clothes was walking toward them.

His outfit was so badly matched that it almost looked intentional.

Yet despite his terrible fashion sense, his face was surprisingly handsome.

Bonnie’s eyes widened.

Andrew?

She knew perfectly well that this was the kind of situation where she absolutely could not give in.

The moment she paid these people once, they would start treating her company like an ATM, coming back whenever they ran short of cash.

But what surprised her even more was something else.

How the hell had Andrew even found her company?

Everyone else stared at the unfamiliar man in confusion.

Who was this guy?

And why had he walked in and immediately started speaking on the troublemakers’ behalf?

The men causing the disturbance, however, looked delighted.

Their leader grinned.

“Now this guy understands how business works.”

He looked Andrew up and down.

“So, little brother… who exactly are you?
