Duncan smirked. The clerk’s timidness was almost amusing. It was expected that they wouldn't know the card.
"Just try the payment. I’m still here. I’m not taking the villa anywhere."
Ella lowered her head in embarrassment. He was right; the machine would tell the truth. If there were no money, she would lose nothing.
"Yes, sir."
She hurried inside to process the card.
Duncan helped Kate sit down. His heart ached. She had suffered because he wasn't there to protect her.
"Sit here, wife. It will be over soon."
Seeing Duncan’s tenderness toward Kate made Cindy’s eyes turn red with envy.
She was beautiful and worked hard to maintain her looks, but she only got ahead by seducing powerful men. It was a cold trade: her body for material things. She had never known real affection.
"Oh, please, who are you putting on this show for? She’s just a sellout anyway."
"Get out."
Duncan growled. Cindy was startled but refused to back down. Kate’s noble aura made her skin crawl with jealousy.
Remembering Kendrick’s promises to Kate made the envy unbearable.
"Just a high-priced whore. Who are you trying to impress? You just have a fool by your side..."
Slap.
Before anyone realized what had happened, Cindy’s face was swollen, her mouth bleeding, and a tooth was missing. She collapsed to the floor, unable to get up.
"Anyone who insults my wife has only one path: death."
Duncan’s murderous gaze was a death sentence for Cindy. In his heart, he had already condemned Aiden Kendrick as well.
Anyone who touched his family would pay the price.
"You maniac. Where are the guards? Call the police now."
Cindy was hysterical. She had a date with Kendrick. How could she serve him like this? She would lose the apartment.
Security guards rushed in at her screams.
"Take him away. He attacked me."
"Sir, please come with us."
A burly guard stepped forward politely, but Duncan didn't even look at him.
"I’ll say it one more time. Get out."
Kate gripped Duncan’s hand, trembling. He realized he shouldn't scare her further. He prepared to deal with the group.
"Hello. The payment is complete. When would you like to receive the keys? As a VIP, the furniture is included, and you can move in anytime."
Ella was ecstatic. The card hadn't shown a balance, which had worried her, but when the transaction was approved, she wanted to scream with joy.
The guards froze when they heard Ella call him a VIP. The leader looked at Cindy, confused. If he were a VIP, attacking him was out of the question.
"Ahem. What’s going on here?"
Ella looked at the head of security. She had been too happy returning the card to notice Cindy crying on the floor.
"This is a VIP customer. He just bought the most expensive villa in the Luxury district. Is there a problem?"
The guards stood awkwardly. Cindy was speechless, unable to believe her ears.
"How is that possible? You’re lying, aren't you? How can a filthy man like that buy a house, let alone a villa? I don't believe it. Guards, what are you doing? Give him a lesson."
Just then, a man in a suit approached with a calm, professional air. He was clearly the manager. He rushed to Duncan and bowed deeply.
"Sir, please come to the VIP room to complete the paperwork. If you need anything, just let me know."
The onlookers gasped as Manager Max bowed to Duncan and Kate.
"Cousin... this..."
"Shut up. Do your job or get out. Don't bother this distinguished guest."
Max didn't spare Cindy’s feelings, scolding her in front of everyone. He usually tolerated her antics because she brought in sales, but this was different.
He didn't know who this man was, but anyone who could drop ninety billion on a villa without a second thought was not just "rich." And a black card with no limit? He had heard stories of people with that kind of power.
"I want her gone. I’ll give you two hours to arrange things. After two hours, I want my wife and father-in-law to move into that villa."
Duncan spoke coldly.
"Yes, of course..."
Max was a man who knew how to handle business. He moved quickly.
"Cousin... I..."
"Shut up. And you guards, what are you standing there for? Get back to work."
He snapped at Cindy and then barked at the guards. Selling a ninety-billion-unit meant his branch’s revenue would soar above the others.
"The commission goes to that young lady."
Duncan didn't forget Ella. At least she had been the one to welcome him.

Chapter 16 - Intriguing
Duncan and Michael returned to the old alleyway, heading back to the home of Alex and Helen. As they reached the entrance, they saw the elderly couple standing in the yard waiting for them, their shoulders dampened by the cold mist.Anxiety was etched onto their faces, but the moment they saw Duncan, their eyes lit up, and their weary wrinkles seemed to soften slightly."Are you... Are you alright?"Helen reached out with trembling hands to check Duncan for injuries."It is good that you are back. So good."Alex spoke with a choked voice. He truly had not wanted anything to happen to Duncan.Seeing how much they worried for him, Duncan felt a warmth spread through his heart. Such tenderness was a rarity for him, reserved only for his wife and these two elderly people. This was the essence of true family."Will you come with me? Let me protect you from now on."Duncan spoke up, wanting to move them to the Moon White villa he had prepared."But... we are fine here. Besides, Edward’s sit
Chapter 15 - The Fear of the Elite
Michael stared at the man standing before him. The stranger was tall and exuded a lingering sense of bloodlust, but even this murderous aura paled in comparison to that of Michael and Duncan. The thugs of the criminal underworld usually risked their lives for profit. Their killing was mostly a matter of self-defense, which naturally cultivated a certain lethal air. Duncan, however, was a veteran of the battlefield. He had walked through the valley of the shadow of death, and his aura was not merely one of slaughter, but the majestic pressure of a God of War. It was a crushing weight that could flatten anything in its path."Have you gone mute?"The leader was Jimmy. In City Neon, he was a man of some reputation. Known for his reckless desperation and his tendency to fight until the very end, anyone who heard his name felt a sense of dread regarding his sheer madness. There was another reason people feared him: his gruesome methods of execution. Even if an opponent surrendered, once Ji
Chapter 14 - Where is the God of War?
Duncan looked at the elderly couple inside the dilapidated shack that seemed ready to collapse at any moment. The space was pitch black, illuminated only by a single oil lamp. The damp air, thick with the smell of mold, made Alex’s coughing fit even worse."I... I have failed you all. To leave you living in a place like this."He shook his head in self-reproach."There is no use in blaming yourself. Back then, we knew both of you were young men with great ambitions. You were envied and framed. Edward was thrown into prison, and you were hunted. I know you left back then because you were thinking of us, and for Edward's sake as well."Alex's voice choked up as he spoke, and Helen buried her face in her hands, weeping."Over these past few years... you... Can you help Edward now?"Helen looked at Duncan’s sun-darkened face. He was much taller and broader than he had been years ago. She knew how much hardship he must have endured to return here. She had just seen him take down those thug
Chapter 13: Foster Parents
Duncan looked at the ragtag group—scrawny, tanned, with dyed hair and cheap tattoos, acting tough by bullying the elderly. It was an eyesore."You want money?"The tone of Duncan's voice was low and heavy. Michael felt a chill. He knew that when the General spoke with such indifference, he was truly furious. Realizing what was about to happen, Michael discreetly signaled the reinforcements he had stationed nearby."You think I’m joking? You either give me twenty million, or I break your legs." Simon swung his baton around to show off. But to a God of War like Duncan, Simon was nothing more than a fly buzzing before it was swatted."Fine. Twenty million. But it’s for your funeral."Before Simon could respond, Duncan moved. His speed was so great that the onlookers thought their eyes were playing tricks on them."How is this possible?""Boss."The lackeys rushed toward their leader. Simon had been kicked over ten meters away, slamming into an old wall with enough force to make the house
Chapter 12: The Night Is When We Move
Duncan and Michael made their way into the heart of Neon City’s largest slum. The two tall men, clad in oversized coats, easily blended in with the local thugs. This slum was home to the low-income masses, the bottom rung of society. Their lives were not just a struggle for survival; they were also preyed upon by local protection rackets that extorted money from them every week. Anyone who refused to pay would be harassed until their business was ruined, making an already miserable existence even worse."Are you sure it’s here?" Duncan asked, eyeing Michael skeptically."Yes, this is definitely the place," Michael confirmed firmly.Duncan’s heart sank. Edward’s parents were elderly people who had once held respectable positions in society. To think they were now forced to live in a place like this broke his heart."Lead the way. Is everything ready?""Yes, everything is prepared."They navigated past reeking piles of garbage and dilapidated shacks, moving through alleys so narrow only

If there is anything you are dissatisfied with, please contact me. I guarantee to handle it immediately.""Fine."Duncan simply replied.Getting into the car, where Michael was already waiting, he noticed that Michael's expression was a bit tense. Gianni, however, showed no emotion."Let's go. Zenith Grill villa area."Michael nodded and began to drive."Father, how was the health checkup?"Kate's primary concern was still Gianni's health."It is what it is. I know my own illness best."Having said that, Gianni patted his daughter's hand. He did not know where this disease came from. But he knew his health had held up this long only through great effort.
