Chapter 42

Lucas left the throne room and met with his parents and then went on his their way to their home. His parents asked her about what the king wanted to discuss with him and he told them about how the king wanted to promote their rank in the hierarchy.

"That's wonderful news." Agnes said with a smile when she heard that.

"Indeed. With the goodwill of the king, our clan will be more powerful and influential as well." Leif said with a smile on his face.

"I know father. With this our clan will also gain more power and prominence amongst the nobility after all." Lucas said to him with a smile on his face.

"Yes, and I will be able to commence some of my own plans if that happens." Leif said with a thoughtful look.

"What plans?" Lucas asked him curiously.

"To increase the comfortable living conditions for the people in our territory. If the people are happy with how their life is, then they will also support us as well. The commoners already like you my son, and if we were to help them further then we will also have their loyalty." Leif said to him with a smile on his face.

"That is a good plan. They will be able to live more comfortably while we also gain their loyalty. It is a well thought out father." Lucas said to his father with a smile.

"Yes. And I also plan on making sure that the criminals in our territory will also be decreased. I do not hold the illusion that we can take care of all of them, but if we do it correctly then we can have more order in our territory. And if we do get to rise in our rank then it will give us more authority for it as well." Leif said to him with a smile as he thought about it.

"Now now, we are travelling back home now. You can talk about your plans after we get back home." Agnes said to her husband and son with a smile.

'Lucas has really taken after him. Perhaps it's time we had a daughter. Well, I do hope I can get a daughter' Agnes thought to herself as she looked at her son.

Leif felt his wife's gaze and looked at her questioningly, but she just smiled towards him as he looked at her for a few seconds and smiled at her before he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her towards him.

Lucas meanwhile decided to look out the window as he didn't want to see his parents lovey dovey time since it feels weird for him. As he was looking he saw one of his boys on top of a building, hidden from view as he looked at his carriage.

'He is tailing me huh. While I'm not surprised about it, why is he so close?' Lucas thought to himself as he looked at the boy.

Lucas kept on looking outside as they reached his home. He disembarked from the carriage and went to his room after telling his parents. He also made sure to pet and scratch Falkor before he went inside though, he doesn't want the wyvern to think that he is neglecting him.

After that he went to his room and then opened the window and sat on the chair as one of his guys came inside.

"Lord Lucas." The guy said as he kneeled in front of him.

"Who was the one tailing me Gamma?" Lucas asked the man in front of him.

"It was Delta my lord." Gamma said to him as he kept on bowing.

"I figured as well. Tell Delta to come here and meet me." Lucas said to him as Gamma nodded.

"Of course, I'll tell him immediately." Gamma said as he went out of the window.

Lucas waited for a few seconds before another one walked in through the window. The one standing in front of him is a 14 year old boy dressed in the same garbs as the rest of his brethren who work under Lucas.

"Delta. May I ask why you were so close when you were spying on my carriage. I had taught you to keep more distance did I?" Lucas asked him as he looked at him with an inquiring look.

"I'm sorry Lord Lucas, I just wanted to make sure that you would be able to travel safely and wanted to keep a close eye on the road so that you won't have to do anything to protect yourself." Delta said to him in a respectful tone.

"Since nothing happened I will look past this mistake of yours. But you must know that I am also very powerful so you best make sure to follow my teachings next time you think about spying on me.." Lucas said to him seriously.

"Yes Lord Lucas, I will." Delta said with a bow.

"Remove your hood." Lucas said to him as he did as told.

A lock of blonde hair is shown, alongside light green eyes and fair skin and a handsome face. When Lucas had first round him, half of his face was deformed, due to the beating he got from his abusive father before said man died. Lucas had fixed his face using magic when he found him.

And Delta himself is quite on the short side and isn't much buffed or muscular, but he has a good control over his own magic power which helps him compensate for his lack of physical power.

It was something that Lucas had noted when he first found out about it. The boy has a natural talent for control of magical power, so he is able to use his own magical power more effectively in giving himself more strength. And he naturally possesses a high amount of magical power as well.

Delta looked at him as Lucas smiled and rubbed his head. It was something he would do to him when he was smaller, but the boy didn't seem to want to get out of the habit and Lucas didn't seem to find anything wrong about it so he would pet the guy from time to time.

"Make sure to take care of yourself and the others." Lucas said to him with a smile.

"I will, my lord. I am happy that you care so much for us. I will not fail you." Delta said to him before he put back the hood and left out the window.

Lucas smiled at that and then went and closed the window before going to sit on the couch as he looked thoughtful.

'Now that the king himself has said that my clan's rank will be elevated, then I will have more power as well. If that happens then I can do my operations more easily as well.' Lucas thought to himself as he thought about what he should do.

While he was thinking that, Delta, who had left the mansion of the Larsen clan landed on one of the roofs of the houses there as he sat there and sighed to himself. He touched his head where Lucas had pet him as he blushed at the memory.

'Lord Lucas petted me today. It felt so good.' Delta thought to himself with a smile and a blush.
