CHAPTER 5

Lady Vivienne’s silver eyes weakly fluttered open for a split second, a sudden, burning wave of absolute shock and unbridled fury crashing through her fading consciousness as she processed the intimate physical contact.

"What a... pervert," she choked out, her voice a fragile, painful whisper. "How dare you... take advantage... of me..."

Her vision dimmed once more, her eyelids growing too heavy to hold up, and she went completely back into a deep, silent unconsciousness.

Dustin did not waste a single second, instantly navigating the blue screen inside his mind to open the system shop.

"System, buy the advanced modern medical kit and use it on her immediately!" Dustin commanded in his thoughts, his eyes flashing with a serious, urgent light.

A strange, sleek silver box materialized out of thin air, a glowing tube coming out of it to attach a tiny needle to Lady Vivienne’s pale arm.

The high-tech machine immediately began performing a rapid cellular blood transfer, pumping clean, energized blood cells straight into her weak, poisoned heart.

Dustin watched the medical device work, holding his breath as the thick black lines of dark magic slowly began to fade away from her smooth skin. Within minutes, her shallow breathing became perfectly deep and steady, her heart completely stabilized.

Hours later, inside the grand, luxurious master bedroom of her private mountain manor, the golden curtains fluttered softly as the storm outside began to die down.

Lady Vivienne’s eyes snapped wide open, her mind instantly recalling the shocking touch from the mountain pass. Her face became a mask of pure fury.

With a sharp SWISH, she leapt off the plush mattress and immediately unsheathed her beautiful moonlit sword, pressing the freezing, glowing metal edge directly against Dustin’s throat.

"I will kill you right now myself, you filthy beast!" Vivienne shrieked, her hand trembling with a raw, intense rage as her cheeks flushed a deep, bright crimson. "How dare you assault me!"

"You were about to be killed by your master when you attempted to sleep with his wife, and I practically saved you from the claws of death at the market!" she yelled, her silver eyes blazing with fury. "Even if you like women so much, how can you assault your new master that just saved you?!"

Dustin remained perfectly calm, sitting steady in the wooden chair beside her bed as he looked directly into the freezing edge of her blade without blinking.

"Wait, wait, My Lady, please hold your sword," Dustin said, his voice completely smooth, human, and natural as he raised his open palms. "This is a massive misunderstanding. Let me explain everything to you."

"Explain what?" Vivienne hissed, her voice cracking with pure embarrassment as she pushed the blade closer to his skin. "I felt your hand on my chest before I passed out! You took advantage of my weakness!"

"I did that because it was the only way to save your life," Dustin stated plainly, shooting straight without beating around the bush. "The dark magic from those ghouls had completely stopped your heart."

Lady Vivienne’s eyes widened as she let out a sharp, angry scoff, her hand tightening on her sword hilt. "Wait, do you take me for a fool or some naive kid? What kind of life-saving method requires you grabbing my chest, huh?"

"My special healing talent required a sudden, massive shock of intense fury to perfectly execute the healing process," Dustin explained, gesturing to the silver machine resting on the table.

"If I had not made you intensely angry and shocked at that exact millisecond, you would be a cold corpse right now," Dustin added, his face full of an earnest, serious truth. "Look at your spiritual core, My Lady. The dark poison is entirely gone."

Lady Vivienne closed her eyes for a brief second, checking her inner energy channels and finding that her lifeforce was indeed perfectly clean, vibrant, and completely whole.

She slowly lowered the freezing edge of her starlight sword, her cheeks turning a deep, shy pink as an immense embarrassment washed over her.

"Do... do never mention that incident ever again," Vivienne whispered, her voice trembling slightly as she sheathed the blade back into its scabbard with a small click. "If a single soul finds out, I will personally cut your tongue out."

"You have my word, My Lady," Dustin nodded seriously, letting out a small breath of relief. "It will remain a total secret between the two of us forever."

"But I must know the truth now, Dustin," Vivienne said, her face becoming very rigid and serious as she walked toward the large window. "Those assassins seemed like they were specifically after you, do you know who might have sent them?"

"They were likely sent by Brandon and the Sterlings," Dustin answered directly, his eyes darkening as he stared at the floor.

Lady Vivienne looked completely confused, her brow furrowing deeply. "The Sterlings? Why would they do that? I have already bought you from them for crying out loud!"

"Because I was never their rebellious slave, Vivienne, it’s high time you see through their lies." Dustin revealed, his tone dropping into a deep, freezing register full of a palpable sense of pent-up frustration. "I was Chloe Sterling's legal husband."

Lady Vivienne froze by the glass, turning her head back with wide, completely shocked eyes. "What? You were her husband? But they treated you like dirt!"

"Yes," Dustin let out a cold, bitter laugh, his knuckles turning white as he clenched his fists. "For three long years, I worked myself to near-death for other houses just to fund their family, because Chloe swore her mother was dying of a contagious core rot."

"But this afternoon, I came back early to surprise her with an expensive medicine," Dustin explained, his eyes flashing with a raw, calcified fury. "Instead, I found her mother completely healthy, they said they were reselling my medicines to buy cultivation crystals for Brandon."

"Worse than that, I found out Chloe’s pregnancy isn’t even mine, she’s crying Brandon's child, and they have been planning to discard me next month once their alliance is finalized," Dustin added, his voice cracking with the memory of the ultimate betrayal.

"When I confronted them, Brandon eagerly used his new power to shatter both of my knee joints to show off to her family," Dustin stated, his voice turning ice-cold. "They lied to you at the gates because they knew I would expose their dirty crimes to the entire city."

Lady Vivienne listened to his words, a deep, unyielding wave of pity and matching anger rising inside her silver eyes as she looked at him. "Those absolute vipers," she whispered softly.

"They did not just betray a faithful husband," Vivienne hissed, her fingers gripping the wooden windowsill until the wood began to creak under her spiritual pressure. "If all that you say is true, then they are absolutely the ones who sent those hired killers after us."

"I agree," Dustin said, his face a mask of stone. "They wanted to turn us into silent corpses in that mountain pass so their prestigious reputation would remain perfectly safe."

Lady Vivienne’s royal aura suddenly exploded with a dangerous, terrifying heat, her face twisting into an expression of unbridled, agitated fury. "How dare they!" she roared out loudly.

"Those low-tier nobles actually dared to send masked executioners to liquidate me and my man!" Vivienne shouted, her voice shaking the heavy glass panes of the window.

She walked out of the bedroom, marching down to the grand courtyard where the two dead attacker ghouls had been brought by her surviving scouts. She looked down at the gray, melted corpses on the stone floor.

"It seems like you are one relentless soul that won't die so easily after all, Dustin Vance," Vivienne stated, a dark, determined smile finally appearing on her beautiful face as she turned back to him.

"Six years ago, my own birth family's multi-million-stone corporate cultivation asset empire was secretly massacred and stolen by the exact same Sterling and Razor-Sexton alliance," Vivienne revealed, her silver eyes burning with a deep, personal enmity.

"They used a fake resource scandal to erase my family from the high registry and seize our trade routes," Vivienne added, her teeth clenched. "We are officially in this together now, Dustin. I promise you, they want a war? We will give them a total tribulation."

Suddenly, a majestic, golden-feathered royal message-hawk soared down from the dark clouds, landing softly right on Lady Vivienne's silver shoulder. It carried a bright scarlet scroll sealed with the High Emperor's personal wax stamp.

Vivienne unrolled the paper quickly, her eyes scanning the glowing letters before she let out a sharp gasp of intense surprise.

"The Emperor has just issued an urgent, mandatory royal summons for tonight," Vivienne announced, her breath catching as she looked at Dustin. "He is calling every single major noble house, merchant guild, and cultivation sect to a grand public meeting at the central plaza."

"The Emperor is generously rewarding anyone who can manage to execute a great, meritorious service for the empire during this crisis," Vivienne added, her eyes reflecting the glowing text.

Dustin looked up at the golden hawk, a low, bone-chilling, and highly dangerous smile slowly spreading across his pale face as his mind formulated the ultimate tactical plan.

"Will the Sterling family and Young Master Brandon be there at the royal plaza tonight?" Dustin asked quietly, his fingers casually tapping his staff.

Lady Vivienne nodded her head grimly, her silver eyes locked onto his cold, unyielding exterior. "Yes. Every single house must stand before the Emperor's throne tonight. No one dares to skip a royal command."

"Perfect," Dustin whispered, a dark light flashing across his blue system screen as he turned toward the door. "Then that grand royal plaza is exactly where I will begin to ruin their entire lives.”
