Chapter 1

    Tired and exhausted after a stressful day, Shadrach stretched lightly and handed the last money to be reimbursed to his boss.

  "Here you go ma'am," he said to his boss while his boss glanced at him and shook as she handed a sum of money to him.

" Thank you, ma'am"

" You don't have to, it's the bounty for your hard work," she said and patted him while he smiled. He toiled as a part-time delivery man in a nearby cafe to finance his education and his girlfriend. Simply thinking about this, he beamed lightly. He adored Clara so much and would do anything for her. He was very sure that if he offered this money to her, it would get her a lot of things. He thought and beamed again, feeling so scornful of himself. This was the best moment of his life even though he was very tired.

   She was the most gorgeous woman he had ever come across but then,  being beautiful also had demands and just because she was always nagging him, he was forced to work in other to help with her constant demands like makeup. and other things she needed. Yet, she had never for once rejected him, she made him proud and he was always enthusiastic to do more.

   Sighing as he mounted his cheap bike to steer to his dormitory, bringing out his key to lock his bike, his hands touched the pack of notes he had just made.

" This will be enough for her makeover for her Youtube content" he muttered and smiled.  He could have tried to call her but she would never pick up the calls unless he went over to her dormitory. 

   Just as he left the school park to go to his room feeling so exhausted, he was surprised to see a group of people gathered around and pointing at something. He wondered what it was and was about to evacuate, thinking it was none of his business when his hallmate rushed over. He hastily held him and faced him.

  " What's going on?" he asked while his friend looked at him weirdly.

" Come check for yourself"

   He wondered what his friend was talking about. The look on his face made it seem as if it was something huge. A  part of him wanted to go ahead and rest since it had been a stressful day for him and another part of him was very curious about what was going on.

   Forgetting that he had weariness, he walked towards the small crowd and walked into the middle of it.

   He scoffed as he oversaw a luxury Ferrari being packed there. It was their usual routine which involved a lot of crowds if not little. There, a guy would propose to a lady and gift her roses. He knew it was another guy glancing to get into the lady's pants. If only he know that such absurdity was going to happen he would not bother himself. It looked like a big slap and taint to him because it was the normal routine to him.

   The moment he was about to leave, he was shocked to see his girlfriend all dressed up in a cream, strapless gown coupled with her dark silky hair all combined neatly. 

What! The rich guy was glancing at his girlfriend, he thought and scoffed. He got so angry at that instant and all he wanted was to confront the rich guy not to ever pass his perimeters but, then he was very assured. He was sure that he knew who his girlfriend was. He trusted her.

   But why did she have to clothe herself in such a manner? He thought angrily and then, a thought popped into his mind.

   Now, he figured out she must have probably done so just because she wanted to humiliate the rich guy. Maybe, so that next time, he would not dare to cross his perimeters. Thinking of that, he smiled happily.

Now, he would have no choice but to be turned down. Oh! Ferrari guy! If only you know what my girlfriend has in stock for you. He thought as he watched her smile at the rich guy and strolled up to him.

 "Will you be my girlfriend?"He asked smiling as he knelt on a knee and held onto a pair of roses in his hands.

    "Yes?" she screamed happily and smiled while he stood up and embraced her and they began to kiss her and the crowd began to clap. 

" She is my girlfriend" he screamed among the crowd.

Everyone just laughed to mock him.

   Shadrach got so furious that all he wanted at that instant was to scatter the place. Was this not the lady that he was trying to make all ends meet for? This was not what he was anticipating. He must have been a fool to think that his girlfriend would deny him.

   What a fool he had been to have assumed. But why did she have to do this? anger was rushing in his veins and he could not hold it in him anymore. All he wanted was just to get closer to both of them and comfort them. How Clara fooled him? Despite all that he had always done to make her happy? Is she for real now?

   Despite everything he had done just to keep her as his? What had he done to earn all these? Is it because of the money he had and he did not have? He thought angrily and wished to walk up to them. He did not care if there were too many crowds and he would have to cause a scene. All he wanted was just to confront them but the more he pushed his way to the front, the more the crowd gathered.

  " Hey!" he yelled out but because of the noises, no one heard him. Who cared anyway?

  Dishearten, he kept on yelling. but then, he realized that cameras were flashing, What! It was also live! He thought in shock. His girlfriend and a new guy were bussing and it was going on social media! It already looked like a mini party and people clapped and cheered at the new couple. Weary, he leaned at the nearest car and stared at them with anger in his heart.
