Chapter 1: At The End Of The Day, Everyone Is Bound To Betray You.
"That's what you deserve!" Thunder and lightning crackled in the dark heavy clouds as Wayne belligerently had Ethan crippled by several thugs he had brought along with him. Ethan is clapped with immense pain and extreme torture that makes his legs lose the ability to aid him on his two feet again. His eyes were swollen, his face reddened but he didn't yield, he still sheepishly tried to crawl back to Wayne, who beside him was Rachael. She watched the whole scene with a delightful smile. "Rachael... Racheal." Ethan called out to her but she only resorted to casting an irritating look at him as she heard him say her name. "How dare you!" Wayne beamed. "You still don't want to back down!? Are you begging to die?!" He stormed up to Ethan and stumped his head to the ground with belligerent force. "Don't you ever utter her name!" Wayne spat on him and retraced his steps back to Rachel's side. "Pick up the brat," Wayne ordered the thugs and they immediately picked him up. They were on top of an isolated building, with the dark heavy clouds raging above them. "Bring me the girl." Wayne posed another order as he walked up to Ethan while retrieving a Glock 19 from his pocket and cocked it. Ethan's eyes soon drifted from Rachelto Wayne as he caught him flexing the handgun in his grasp. His heart skipped a beat. Was Wayne going to put a bullet in his head? No, Wayne had already crippled him, What's the need for the handgun? Unable to grasp the situation, the familiar sound of a girl screaming her lungs out through a cloth used to cover her lips caught his attention. He turned sharply to the side, his mind became an unsettling sea as he felt he was familiar with the tone of that scream. Just then, through the door that led to the roof, marching out of it was Drake with Ethan's sister all tied up. Unable to hold back the sudden pulse in his lungs, Ethan screamed. "Mayka!" "Shut up!" Wayne retorted and pulled a trigger at Ethan's crippled legs. A resonating bang occurs and Ethan is left screaming in agony. Blood uncontrollably streamed out of his kneecap. "Who said you can talk?" Wayne frowned bitterly. "Here's what's going to happen." Ethan struggled with the pain that had clenched his entire body, unable to move an inch. If he moved even one parcel of his body, a threatening pain would consume him. "Since you didn't hesitate to beat me up earlier, and also caused a scene at my office!" Ethan couldn't say a word, his mind clouded with pain and the thought of his sister's condition and the fact that the person who had brought her here was none other than his best friend. 'How could he?' 'How could they?' Ethan begged for answers to his thoughts. "This is what happens when you mess with me, look up!" Wayne forced Ethan's head with his finger and pointed the Glock 19 at Mayka. "No!" Ethan was forced out regardless of the pain he felt. "Yes!" Wayne replied with a devilish tone and pointed the gun at Mayka who was left on the floor to struggle. "Please don't!" Wayne chuckled coldly and pulled the trigger before Ethan's eyes. The menacing sound that had escaped the muzzle of the gun left Ethan wounded. He wasn't the one that was shot this time, but, he almost felt like he was the one who got shot. His sister stopped moving, blood poured out of her head, and her corpse turned cold. No... Ethan wanted to scream. His eyes pulsed out, his heart berated his ribcage. His sister was just in the head before him. "...." Ethan hadn't said a word but Wayne punched him across the face and kept at it till Ethan was at the edge of the building top. All of this didn't for once leave any ounce of sympathy on Rachel And Drake. They hated him, they were entertained by everything that was happening to him. Down the building hailed a massive horde of zombies that were sluggishly moving along the deserted location. Wayne picked Ethan up with a mixture of joy and hatred on his face, "And this is where you die!" Ethan's heart snapped before he knew it, he was already soaring down the building faster than he expected, He crashed upon a bus before rolling off it, his blood scent attracted the Zombies and they started to approach him. Ethan was partly dead, the fire that burned as a sign of reliance was already out. He couldn't live anymore, there was no reason, his only reason to live was his sister and she was already dead. The woman he loved, betrayed him. The man he called his friend, betrayed him. "I wish I could get... another... chance..." Ethan forced, the horde enclosing him. "So that I can make ... you all... pay!" A loud snarl emerged and Ethan was swallowed into the horde! ... Snap! Ethan pulses out of his bed. He appeared completely unharmed, it was as if never left his room in the first place. "How did I--" Ethan couldn't pick his words right. He was so perturbed by this sudden event. Just then, A blue screen panel surfaced above him. He shielded Mayka as the remaining attackers closed in, weapons drawn, their intentions clear: there would be no survivors."Cover me!" he barked at Fiona, who, through the strange abilities the fever had left her with, managed to hijack the gun from one of the armed men. The apocalypse had only just begun. The car hummed with a tense silence as Ethan slid back into the seat, his eyes still reflecting the shock of the recent events. Cars, twisted and mangled, lay scattered like discarded toys, their occupants long gone, devoured by the insatiable hunger of the undead. Fiona, Rachel, and Mayka huddled together in the back, their faces pale with fear. The world outside was a horrifying spectacle of chaos and decay, a stark reminder of the fragile nature of their existence. "We won't make it to the bunker before dawn," Fiona said, her voice barely a whisper. "We need to find somewhere safe to rest." Ethan nodded, his gaze never leaving the road. "I know," he said, his voice tight. "But we have to keep moving. The longer we stay in one place, the more likely we are to be found." The bus lurched to a halt, its engine sputtering to a stop. Ethan turned to the others. "Stay here," he instructed. "Lock the doors. I'll scout ahead." He opened the door and stepped out into the oppressive silen
