King’s body jerked with pain, blood crusting down his face as he lay on the floor—a pile of flesh barely resembling the man who once called himself untouchable. He trembled, chest heaving, his broken form twitching as his half-lidded eyes followed the calm monster who stood before him.

Kai didn’t even break a sweat.

“Y-You...” King wheezed, his voice cracked and hoarse. “How... How did you know I was lying...?”

Kai didn’t speak immediately. He simply tilted his head to the side, then raised one finger and pointed toward his eye. That eye—glowing faintly gold, ancient and unreadable—burned with quiet malevolence. The room itself seemed to contract under its presence.

“You really don’t get it, do you?” Kai finally said, crouching beside him again. “This isn’t some parlor trick or a little light show to impress rookies. This eye…” he leaned closer, letting the glow reflect on King’s battered face, “...was forged from the convergence of divine punishment and human wrath. It doesn’t just s

Kai leaned against the wall, arms folded across his chest, watching the woman as she practically bounced with joy, the way someone might if they’d just won the lottery. She was smiling too hard. Too quickly. And he didn’t like it.“Why are you so damn happy?” he muttered, arching a brow, voice flat. The lady looked at him, half-laughing. “Because we’re going to get the scrolls, duh. We move soon, right? No time to waste.”Kai didn’t answer immediately. He hummed low in his throat, as if chewing on a decision that refused to go down. He didn’t trust joy... it was always followed by chaos. And this woman? She was glowing like she’d already won. That alone was enough reason to mess with her.He shifted, rubbing his jaw lazily. “I don’t know. Now that I think about it… I don’t like how excited you are. Makes me suspicious.”She blinked. “Suspicious? Of what?”“Of you,” Kai said plainly. “You’re too happy. Either you’re hiding something, or you’re stupidly optimistic. And either one makes

Kai stood near the doorway, one hand resting lazily on the doorframe, the other stuffed deep in his pocket. He was watching her, not with the intensity of a man desperate for answers, but with that maddening, unreadable calm that made people question if he was even listening. The lady blinked in awe, she'd just dropped a bomb, one that could shake the foundation of the entire cultivation world. But all Kai did was blink and was watching her like she was a strange animal making noise in his bedroom.“…You done?” he asked, voice dry.The lady’s smirk deepened. “Let me make things clearer, what I meant is… I know where the Fragmented Scroll of the Celestial Gods is.”Kai scratched his neck like he hadn’t heard her right. “You sure it’s not under your pillow?”She rolled her eyes. “Funny. But I’m serious. This isn’t a joke.”“Neither was the nap you ruined.”The lady huffed. “Do you know how powerful that fragment is? Every cultivator dreams of it! Eternal life. God-tier essence. Realm-be

The woman blinked twice, stunned as a gentle pulse of her own energy rippled through her veins. She could feel it—her strength. Her core. Her cultivation had returned.Even if not at full capacity, it was back. She sat up straighter, not caring about her half nakedness again, eyes wide as she looked down at her hands, then back up toward the man who’d just walked out as if he hadn’t done something borderline miraculous. Her brows furrowed in disbelief. He had unsealed her cultivation. He'd restored her.Just like that?Who the fuck was this strange and definitely crazy man? Before she could gather her thoughts properly, the door creaked open again.Kai strode back in, this time with a wad of crumpled cash in one hand and moved towards the table he'd dropped a new set of clothes before, picking it up with the other hand. Without sparing her much of a glance, he dropped both items unceremoniously on the foot of the bed.“There. Clothes. Cash. Door’s over there,” he said, pointing with h

Kai was still staring.Like really staring. Not the subtle kind, not the creepy kind—just the kind that screamed, "I’ve got time and you’re entertainment."The woman shifted slightly under the weight of his gaze, raising a brow. “Why are you staring at me like that?”Kai let out a chuckle—low, amused, shameless.“Waiting for you to stop acting like a sealed-up drama queen and actually say something.” He leaned back with a yawn, stretching his limbs wide.“I’ve got a bit of free time today, so I figured... why not waste it listening to the bloody soap opera that got you nearly shredded in my training field?”He grinned lazily, voice dripping with sarcasm.“So, what’s your story? Lemme guess—you’re a runaway disciple from some overbearing sect who didn’t want to marry the old wrinkled elder in charge, so you dipped during your engagement ceremony? Or maybe you accidentally insulted a demigod’s favorite concubine and now they’ve sent all nine realms after your head?”The woman scoffed and

The room was still, dimly lit by the soft glow of the afternoon sun filtering through cream-colored curtains. The air smelled faintly of antiseptic and something faintly woodsy—pine maybe, or Kai’s cologne… not that she had a clue. She stirred under the thick blanket, groaning softly. Her body ached like she’d been trampled by an angry herd of minotaurs. Her head pounded. Her muscles screamed. And then—She froze. Why the hell was her skin touching the sheets? Was this how hell felt? Her eyes snapped open, and the first thing she registered was that she was lying on a large bed, dressed in nothing but her underwear and bandages. Her shirt was gone. Pants? Gone. Armor? What armor?“What in God's name—?!” she gasped, clutching the blanket to her chest like it was a shield against the perversion of the entire male species. She glanced down again. Her injuries were bandaged expertly. Someone had cleaned the blood, dressed her wounds. Okay. Fine. Great even. But—Who. Removed. Her. Clothes

  • 91: Trouble, Served Warm

The moment their attack shot toward Kai, powers combined in spiritual energy, something unexpected happened.A figure darted into view—a blur of red and blood—throwing herself in front of him with a trembling shield. The blast struck her barrier dead on, crackling with lightning and fire, and the force was enough to crackle the earth beneath her feet. Her body shook violently, knees buckling, but she remained standing, chest heaving and blood running down her lip.Kai blinked. She actually blocked it?That... that was new.He stared at her, puzzled. She was half-dead, clearly running on the last threads of energy, and yet she still stepped in to shield him?In Kai's mind, a dozen questions fired off like bullets. Was she stupid? Brave? Both? Who the hell risked themselves to protect a stranger who probably looked like he just rolled off a couch five minutes ago? Before he could process more, the woman turned to him sharply, voice urgent."Run! You're just a mortal... one hit from them
