"According to... the information we've gathered... it seems the people who were after your mother were looking for something... something she had," Blake hesitated.
"Something called... the Phoenix Ring?"
The Phoenix Ring?
Ethan’s expression shifted immediately.
Ethan was no stranger to the Phoenix Ring—he knew it all too well. It was the only heirloom his mother had left him.
But what he couldn’t fathom was the fact that his mother’s death seemed to be tied to this very ring.
Could it be... that this ring held some kind of dark secret?
Slowly, he turned around, his icy gaze sweeping over Blake and Dante.
"Alright, I understand the situation now."
"If there’s any new information regarding my mother, you make sure to inform me immediately. Got it?"
"Yes, sir!" Blake and Dante responded in unison.
Ethan didn’t wait for them to say more, turning to leave. Now that he knew about his mother’s connection to the Phoenix Ring, there was no reason for him to stay any longer.
He needed to get the Phoenix Ring back as soon as possible.
He had to know what secret it contained—what was so important that it had cost his mother her life?
Meanwhile, at the entrance of the restaurant, Serena and Victor were still anxiously waiting.
Having confirmed that a significant figure was inside, they weren’t about to miss the chance to meet this person—after all, someone whom Dante, and even the president of the Black Dragon Guild, Blake, had shown such respect, had to be someone extremely important.
If they could make a connection with this figure, Serena was certain it would elevate the Blackwell family’s position in Clouddale.
But just as she was waiting, her smile faded when a familiar face appeared before her.
"Ethan!"
Her expression immediately twisted into one of anger and annoyance.
Her gaze darkened as she glared at him, her voice dripping with disdain.
"Ethan, you just can't seem to leave me alone, can you? Following me all the way here—what exactly do you want?"
Serena looked down at him with an air of superiority, her eyes filled with contempt.
Ethan, seeing who it was, rolled his eyes, his patience wearing thin. He shot back with a cold, indifferent tone.
"Serena, you really think too highly of yourself. Following you? Are you kidding? I’m here to eat."
"And besides, we’re divorced. Why would I follow you around?"
His voice grew colder as he spoke. With everything going on with his mother, he was already in a foul mood, and Serena’s presence was only making it worse.
Serena, not missing the tone in his voice, sneered.
"Ha! So, you’re upset because I caught you in a lie? I don't care how you followed me here, but let me tell you something."
She raised her chin with a smug smile, taking out a platinum membership card that belonged to Victor, flashing it in front of Ethan’s face.
"This is a platinum membership card to the Golden Palace. Only people with real status and connections can come here and dine."
"Someone like you, though? You don’t even have the right to set foot in this place. You’d be lucky to even get in the lobby, let alone eat here."She laughed, her voice laced with scorn.
"Also, do you even know who's dining in there right now?"
With a mocking smile and a look of pure disdain, Serena turned her gaze toward Ethan and continued, "It’s none other than the CEO of the Black Gold Consortium and the president of the top business association in the city. They're hosting a even more distinguished VIP guest on the top floor!"
She smirked sarcastically, "And you—did you seriously just say you’re eating in there? That's beyond absurd. You wouldn't even be allowed in to clean the toilets here!"
Victor had been smiling the whole time, watching Ethan with disgust and amusement as Serena mocked him.
Then—
Ethan laughed.
It was a low, quiet chuckle, one that sent a chill down their spines before they could even process why.
Victor’s smirk faltered. "What’s so funny?"
Ethan’s gaze sharpened, the amusement in his eyes cutting like a blade.
"That ‘distinguished guest’ they were entertaining?"
He took a step forward, lowering his voice slightly.
"That was me."

Grandpa!”Ethan tensed. “What’s wrong, Avery?”“Henry’s not just our butler—he’s the one taking care of Grandpa’s daily needs!”“If Jaxon’s right and Henry’s out to get us... then what

Chapter 19
"Young Master!"At the same time, Dante and Blake quickly approached Ethan, their faces full of respect and solemnity."Mm."Ethan nodded, his expression calm as he looked at them, then said in a deep voice,"Dante, I need you to investigate someone.""You have my command, Young Master," Dante replied, his face serious."Avery's brother, Jaxon Mitchell. Find out where he is right now."Dante raised an eyebrow, looking at the Young Master with some doubt. He didn't understand why he was being asked to investigate someone, especially for no clear reason. However, being sharp, Dante didn't question further. He nodded immediately."Understood, Young Master. I'll handle it right away."With that, Dante left without hesitation. As Dante left, Blake seemed to think of something. He cautiously glanced at Ethan, then spoke in a lowered voice."By the way, Young Master, I saw a pair of phoenix rings in Serena's possession earlier. He turned and walked away.At that moment, he still couldn’t be sure if the Phoenix Rings Serena held were the same ones the Young Master had been looking for. After a moment of thought, he decided to consult with the Young Master to confirm.Watching Blake leave, Serena’s expression darkened, and she sneered to herself.“Hmph! Avery, don’t think that securing the Black Gold Consortium deal means you’re on top now! Let me tell you, as long as I’m here, there’s no way the Mitchell family will rise in Clouddale!”Her face grew even colder as the bitterness filled her thoughts. Why did Avery, with her failing company, get to secure a deal with the Black Gold Consortium, while she couldn’t?Serena was angry—deeply angry.Avery, you wait.
