The murmurs in the auction hall had turned into a low roar, as one by one, the figureheads and other high-powered bidders began to question Felix’s legitimacy.

Accusations flew from every direction, each one more pointed than the last. They were all coming to the same conclusion Felix couldn’t possibly afford the extravagant sums he had just bid. How could someone, seemingly a nobody, be capable of shelling out such an astronomical amount?

“Is he really going to pay for this?” Mark, one of the figureheads, sneered, his voice loud enough to be heard across the room.

His words struck a chord with many in the room. Doubts began to creep into the minds of those who had been silently observing the auction.

Was Felix just playing a game? Was he mocking them all? His behavior, his boldness, seemed to suggest that he had no real intentions of paying for the items, that he was just playing with the auction house as if it were some kind of game.
