VINCENT MILES: AND THE FIST OF FIRE

CHAPTER 6:UNEXPECTED VISITORS

Champ and Vincent were together as they walk down the Bravery Building when Sophia suddenly appeared in front of them. Champ said goodbye to Vincent but he insisted him to stay but Champ left since their dorms is separated anyway.

“What do you want, Sophia? “ Vincent asked.

Her sister looks awful, her eyes are as puffy as his and her necktie is also untidy, so much for a person who is obsessed with proper manners and clothing.

“Oh, I see. Your boyfriend just broke up with you. Sorry, sorry. Alright I’ll keep you company. “

Sophia sighed. Vincent has no idea how much Sophia had cried last night, she felt his brother’s pain and suffering. She can’t bring up the topic since it would only make Vincent angry. But there is something about to happen, someone Vincent has to see that might make his feelings worse.

“Come with me. Don’t ask questions just come. “ she says.

Then he pulled Vincent’s wrist and forced him to walk fast.

In just a minute, both of them arrived at the entrance gates of the school. They sat on a near bench and waited for someone whom Vincent doesn’t even know since Sophia ignored him along the way. After two minutes of waiting someone entered the gates. Sophia stood up and looked at the person who entered, Vincent followed but his attention is at the sky.

“Hey, Sophia. Am I going crazy because of our lessons or is there really a man falling from the sky? “ Vincent asked.

“You’re just going crazy. ” annoyingly replied by Sophia.

But Vincent knows this isn’t just his mind going crazy and a man is literally falling from the sky then in just mere seconds. The man landed on the ground, smoke and dust appeared because of his landing and with a strong gush of wind the smoke and dust were removed and it revealed a man wearing a jetpack, he has short blond hair, light skinned man and was wearing glasses like Vincent does and Vincent immediately recognized him.

“Romeo? “ says Sophia and Vincent simultaneously.

The man smiled. It was their older brother. The seventh one.

“Hey! Hey! Hey! How do you do my beloved siblings! Freddie, I missed you my brother so much! And Soso, still mean looking eh?! “ says their brother cheerfully and immediately hugged both of the annoyed sibling.

Romeo is a Division Commander of the Hero Squad, Mega Robotics. Bunch of scientists who commits heroism through their inventions that helps heroes, some are strong but almost all of them are just smart. Romeo is powerful, he has magnetic powers just like Sophia but he uses that for building machines not for fighting but he has something to show when it comes to fighting. He is considered as the smartest among all of the Miles siblings followed by Victor, Violet and Jennifer. Romeo finally let his two suffocating siblings go and laughed.

“Oh, yeah. He is also here. “ says Romeo. He then moved aside and behind showed a man with black and gray hair, he was tall, tanned skinned and handsome, he wore a business attire. Besides him, a beautiful red haired girl who was wearing a beautiful white dress.

“Father? ” Vincent exclaimed.

The man who is their father smiled at Vincent. He was so happy to see his son growing into a fine man but also felt sad because there is a terrible past that still haunts him and he knows that because he is his father. Their father approached Vincent and hugged him tightly, tears suddenly fell on the father’s face. Vincent looked at Sophia and Romeo who nodded at him to hug their father even just a little. Vincent hugged his father gently. His father finally let go of his son and wiped his tears.

“Tears of joy my son. I haven’t seen you for ten years so I’m just so happy to see you well. Now let’s get down to business “ says their father.

But before they could start, the three siblings approached the girl who was with their father and hugged her gently. It was their step-mother. She was carrying a briefcase and Vincent just noticed that.

“Here, Jameson. “ says the girl as she gave the briefcase to her husband.

“Thank you, Kristine. “ replied Jameson.

He then placed the briefcase on the nearest bench. The briefcase seemed to be heavy since it landed on the bench loudly. Jameson opened the briefcase and in there was money. Six stash of cash and six bags of coins.

“Money. Monthly allowance for both of you, Sophia, Vincent. “ says their father.

He then divided the money. Each received three stash of cash and three bags of coins.

“You both will receive three stash of cash which is worth a hundred thousand GAMs each and three bags of coins. The two bags contains gold coins and other contains silver coins. ” explained their father.

Vincent looked at his father. He complained about the money being too much, a hundred thousand is enough to buy a house if Vincent’s knowledge is correct and this much money is only for a month? Yes, it’s too much for Vincent.

“What are you an idiot? Have you seen the prices of foods, clothes and other essentials at the Central Campus Stores? “ asked Sophia.

Vincent definitely doesn’t know it so Sophia explained it to him. It turns out that the price there is too expensive that a single shirt price is about five gold and three silver coins. Foods are the most expensive ones since a kilo of meat ranges from 20 GAM to 100 GAM. It is very expensive.

“But a hundred thousand is still too much. I am a cheap person and not like an extravagant like you Sophia and Violet, you know. “ complained Vincent.

But their father insisted it so Vincent just forcibly accepted the money. Their father then called Romeo and he approached Vincent. He took out a measuring tape from his pocket and then measured Vincent’s wrist.

“Perfect! “ he says and he put back the tape in his pocket.

Vincent was very amazed because his brother is wearing their Silver Cape which is a symbol of their Hero squad and someday Vincent wants to wear one of those.

“Maybe a cape that is somehow fury or comfortable. That would be cool.” Vincent thought to himself.

Because of his daydreaming, Vincent didn’t realize that Romeo is now slapping him. When he is finally awake, Romeo gave Vincent a small box. He opened it and inside of it was a black shining watch. He asked Romeo on how much since the invention of the Mega Robotics are way too expensive and only rich people with great jobs can afford them. Romeo just laughed and said it was free. Vincent took it out of the box and quickly wear it. It was a perfect fit.

“Now. Press your index finger on the middle of it. “ says Romeo.

He did what he told him. Once he put his finger on the middle, it suddenly vibrated and it scanned his fingerprint. The watch beeped signaling the finish of the registering of identification.

“Tap the watch two times.” instructed Romeo.

Vincent tapped the watch and was surprised to see that it opened just like a phone. Actually, it was like a phone. Romeo then explained that this device is an Advanced Communicator. It’s too expensive so no one actually buys it except for the rich people out there. But all of their siblings has it, Sophia showed hers and now it was made clear for Vincent on how did she called Violet and Victor so fast. Romeo continued his explanation of instructions. The watch is resistant to fire, pressure and water, it is so durable that even if you throw it a thousand feet off the ground it would still be working. You can call, send text messages and even monitor the weather in this device. But the amazing thing about this is that it has a feature that it can contain ten materials such as clothes and weapons. Romeo asked Vincent to tap it three times then swipe down and Vincent did. Romeo then grabbed the box and threw it at the watch and it surprisingly sucked the box. Vincent grinned as he was amazed by the watch. He thanked Romeo for giving it.

“I will warn you, Freddie. Do not like not break it. It is hard to build that thing and almost impossible to fix. So please. ” begged Romeo.

“I promise.” says Vincent.

Their father then clapped his hands.

“Now that everything’s been given. We must leave now. It is getting dark and the school has rules. “ he says.

Romeo agreed as he only sneaked out of his work just to give the device to Vincent. Their father then took the briefcase and Vincent put his money in his watch and so did Sophia.

“Good luck you two. Sophia, please spend your money wisely because I can’t come here too often since our home is five hours away from here. And Vincent, don’t get too involved in fights. Actually, don’t be involved at all, okay?” warned their father.

Both of them agreed and Sophia is the only one annoyed.

Their father hugged the both of them tight then moved to Romeo to hug him too and it annoyed Romeo.

Their father said farewell then ran back to the car that is just in front of the entrance.

“Well, I have to go too. You two watch each others back, eh? Then, bye!” cheered Romeo.

Then his jetpack suddenly burst and he flew.

“Let’s get back to our dorms. ” says Sophia.

Vincent’s dorm was the nearest so it only took seconds to get there.

“See you tomorrow then, Vince. Bye. ” says Sophia.

Vincent waved goodbye. He then went inside his dorm and started to get some ingredients from his fridge and started to cook something for dinner. Once he was done cooking, he put his foods on a plate and sat down on the sofa and turned on the TV. The news was his target show since he has no interest in dramas or movies. The reporter in the news is reporting some suspicious activities and actions from criminals. Some of the wanted criminals in this city is disappearing one by one with no trace. What surprised Vincent is that in the news, the camera focused on a man with a beard, has a tanned skin tone, brown curly hair and wearing a very flashy hero costume and his hero cape which is something like fur of a lion. And Vincent recognized this man immediately, it was his older brother, Victor. He is being interviewed by reporters on the investigation of this case. But Victor is giving no comments at all and just saying “No comment.” and “Confidential.”

So the reason why Vincent's brother is so busy that he hung up the phone last night is because of this. And this also means that Victor is here in this city since their squad is the one assigned to investigate this case. That gives extra assurance to the citizens of this city since this city which is called the Central Empire is the largest city and is the most peaceful one with a crime rate of 5%. And this city is also known as the most protected one since a lot of hero squad headquarters are built here because of the fact that the President's palace is also built here, and the President himself lives in this large city. The news went on until Vincent finished his meal. He turned off the TV, washed his dishes in the sink, took a quick shower. Once he was done, he quickly went to his study table and answered his assignments. While he was answering, he felt weak. His vision is blurring, he feels dizzy. And even with the air-condition on, he is sweating like crazy. He stood up and that's when he suddenly passed out, his head hit the ground hard. And he stayed unconscious there on the ground, without anyone knowing.
